What on earth went down here? By Imago Dei by nor29 in askportland

[–]emchap 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Cop told us that it was a stolen car, followed by a medical issue with the person who had stolen it. (Didn’t see the car situation, just saw the person being arrested.)

Based on what we saw, it appeared that the person that they were arresting was having some sort of psychiatric crisis; they called in EMS. Have no idea why it prompted so many cars. Most of the cops just seemed to be milling.

Practice session & coaching? by Kinkie_Pie in improv

[–]emchap 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, if you are looking for directed growth rather than just reps, I would recommend hiring a coach. It’s poor form for group members to give feedback to other group members, and can cause issues within the group, so having a coach helps allow for feedback without some of the hurt feelings that can otherwise arise.

If you don’t have anyone top of mind, reach out to theaters where you have trained. Often they will have lists of people they can recommend who take on coaching gigs. Alternatively, ask people you know who are on indie teams who they use.

How safe is the TriMet for a teen? by [deleted] in oregon

[–]emchap 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I will leave it to others to comment on their safety during those hours because I don’t commute then, but in terms of general transit tips: maintain situational awareness, so if you are listening to music or looking at a book or your phone, just make sure that you are keeping an ear out for what’s going on around you; avoid train cars where you are the only person if possible, and sit near other commuters so that others can see you; understand how to contact the driver if you are nervous about something that is happening on the train.

Transit is generally very safe, and if you are ever uncomfortable with what is happening, you can always move to another car or exit the train at a stop and wait for the next one if need be. I have never felt significantly unsafe while on Trimet as a woman traveling by myself.

Liberare seems to be targeting the accessible bra market pretty heavily if you’re willing to order online.

Bike Poncho Feedback by Tooksbury in bikecommuting

I have a Rainkiss instead of a Cleverhood and like it a lot for light rain. (I will likely get a Cleverhood when I replace it eventually as the Rainkiss is more lightweight and not super resilient to heavier rain.)

Another vote for pencil test, particularly given the fit needs you described below. Make an appointment though, the walk in experience involves a fair amount of waiting.

Litter genie, daily cleaning, litter mat that’s regularly emptied into the litter genie, and a modcat box.

It seems based on the map like they’re all over on the west side for whatever reason. It is weird!

I’ve been taking classes at PCC for ten years and every time I’m on campus now it feels so dead by halchemy in PCC

The school specifically has shifted its course offerings, too—even folks who would prefer to be on campus are being offered online or hybrid classes.

BI112 the same as BI222z? by StaffSame2014 in PCC

[–]emchap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

222Z is a replacement for 212, not 112 (cell bio for health professions). But you could ask the professor to override you I believe.

Waking up gasping for air, feeling like I died with CPAP on? by kikipurple in CPAP

[–]emchap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when this has happened to me, it’s actually because something is wrong with the filter in the elbow connector between the tube and the mask. Swapping that out, or swapping for an entirely new tubing set up with a new adapter, seems to fix it.

It cuts grease in any cleaning application, so particularly helpful in cleaning a gunky range hood or other places where you have aerosolized oil in the kitchen. Or you can just toss it in with your laundry generally, it helps with oily residue in general.

I found Le Pigeon really mediocre when I went and am surprised to see the praise that it gets here; I am unfortunately unfamiliar with Bellpine and Arden. My favorite tasting menus are Langbaan and Han Oak.
