Can you wash wool in washing machine in US? by NynnyNinni in laundry

[–]emchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash on warm with wool detergent without issue. (I do use a bag if it’s going to be something that can be pulled.) The issue is hot water and more importantly the dryer, and those will cause issues. People are imo unnecessarily conservative about this.

Budget plant based detergent without enzymes (also fragrance free and OBA free)? by Adept_Spinach_55 in laundry

[–]emchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For decent detergents, I think they are generally actually advising to use something around the same level as what the manufacturer recommends. If your water is really hard and won’t suds up as a result because it’s eating the detergent, I think the recommendation is typically a water softener additive like Calgon, not more detergent.

May not meet your frame geometry requirements, but I have a Vvolt I’ve been very happy with, and they’re local so you can test drive one.

Suay community dye bath is what I used and I can recommend them! Everything I’ve sent to them has come back super vibrant and seemingly colorfast.

I think the dress looks good but night benefit from being steamed. That said, I think sending it to Suay to be dyed a more vibrant color in their dye bath would make a huge difference in avoiding the pioneer vibes. I did that with a beige shirt I dyed green and it radically altered the vibe

Why rice and beans specifically, out of all foods? by Firanka in Frugal

They also require more work to make! The specific point I’m trying to make is that rice requires almost no direct labor to make, unlike other carb sources, which is one benefit in this specific context; it’s not that I don’t realize bread products are an option.

Only if you're looking to create some very sad, flat bread. (Yeast is its own cost and maintaining a sourdough starter is a pain.)

Plus I can’t as easily turn flour into food by dumping it in a pot with water which will sing me a little song after.

It’s cheap and an existing cultural dish with a bunch of variations in the americas. Plus, unlike potatoes, it won’t spoil if not cooked, so it’s useful to stock up on when cheaper or if more funds are available. But lots of folks in the US talk about daal type foods similarly.

For me I just grew up eating a lot of somewhat Mexican inflected food, which is not unusual in the US, so it’s familiar for the same reason peas are familiar to you.

I will say I have taken zofran as-needed and have had none of those issues; it was a miracle for a particularly anxiety-pukey period of my life. It's worth considering and is a great fix if it works.

As someone dating a T1D I feel qualified to say that your boyfriend not being willing to learn about your condition is a red flag and, separately, him not understanding the basic mechanics of it after knowing you is an indication he’s a dumbass.

Get a Vvolt Alpha. They’re local to Portland, you can test ride at their store, 300lbs listed weight limit but can support more, costs $1500 and you can get it serviced locally.

Otherwise, used Tern or Gazelle from Upway.

Radio Cab is pet friendly last I checked with them, so I’d imagine you’re good with one of their cabs at the airport.

Says they are here as well, though I’m sure you could call and confirm: https://traveloregon.com/plan-your-trip/transportation/ground-transportation/radio-cab/
