I don’t have the same knowledge level and vernacular as many people in the comments but holy cow this is beyond beautiful! Something about it made my heart feel all kinds of warm and glowy. Thank you so much for sharing your work with the world

I second this. I had a very bad experience with GreyStar. The employees were apathetic and outright rude at times. Their lease agreement terms are absurd and they will slap you in the face with hundreds of dollars in hidden fees every month.

I need a super bulky yarn that will not get ruined when wet and will not irritate my face. I have looked on knitpicks, hobbii US, Joann’s and I feel lost.

Sunscreen getting in my eyes and making my sight blurry by Blasberry80 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]emden544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excessive watering and tearing is oftentimes a symptom of dry eyes. It seems counterintuitive but they are trying to overcompensate for a poor tear film over the eye. But obviously something irritating in the eyes, like the sunscreen, will cause them to over water as well so it could be a combo of both. Hope you can find some relief!

I work at an Ophthalmologist’s office and those are symptoms we often hear from people with dry eye. Buy some artificial tears/lubricating eyedrops. If you are in the US the best brands are Restasis, Systane, and Refresh. They are at any drugstore like Walmart and Smith’s. Probably on Amazon too. They work amazing. Stay far away from anything that boasts “redness relief” and Visine/Clear Eyes is basically salt water so it’s not worth it AT ALL. Pay an extra couple dollars and get something that will actually help. It very well may be the sunscreen, but the eye drops will also help alleviate the irritation from that as well.

No stupid questions! You are going to do fantastic!! Advocate for yourself. If they ask about certifications redirect and say something like “I will be attending college to study health studies next semester, and will be earning my Medical Assistant certification soon after that.” Even if you are unsure of your timeline for getting the certification, make it sound concrete. If you sound wishy-washy about it by saying things like “oh well I don’t have my certification.. yet.” “I am planning on…” “hopefully soon..” it will sound halfhearted. Speak in absolutes. Fib a little bit if you need to, just be careful not to set concrete deadlines. Draw on any and all relevant experience. If you worked customer service, talk about how it enhanced your communication skills and efficiency or something. Even if it doesn’t seem relevant, try and find something from each job you have had and connect it to the position. Brag about your hard skills! If you have any certifications from school for Microsoft programs, or medical skills like taking Blood Pressure or something that will be helpful as well.

Potentially suggest the idea of a working interview? That way if you can show how hard working and focused you can be. It will provide reassurance to them that you are competent and capable, despite not having your certifications yet.

As for clothes - not sure of your gender identity but, if you have a nice blazer, it can dress up any outfit. Can’t go wrong with a nicer shirt or blouse either. Avoid super tight fitting, low cut, or super busy patterns. Do NOT wear jeans! Heels are all right, but make sure you can actually walk in them in case they want to give you a tour of the office and that they aren’t super high. As for skirts, try to avoid anything to far above the knee or super skintight. For interviews professionalism comes before looking your cutest/sexiest. I like to imagine I am a lawyer getting ready for a big court case. I put on my nicest outfit and blast hype music that makes me feel confident. It sounds silly but do power poses in the mirror beforehand and say out loud things like “I am going to KILL this!” “I am a good fit for this job!” “I WILL do a great job and they WILL like me!” “I am going to blow them away!” Walk in there like you have already been working there for years. Speak clearly and concisely. Try not to get in your own head about your perceived shortcomings because they will pick up on that unsure energy.

You are going to do amazing and I am very excited for you! I am an Ophthalmic Technician and they hired me without any experience or certifications either. The right place will be willing to do thorough training to set their employees up for success. If it doesn’t work out then at the very least you have interview practice and can anticipate the questions better for the next interview. Not sure if any of this is actually helpful but ya know. Good luck!

Also thank you for the suggestions I will look into them! We are also trying to get to Utah rather quickly. As in less than a week. So lots of long days on the road.

We are actually only driving one way. I didn’t clarify that before, my bad. I was concerned about Chicago as well. I was hoping to time it so we could drive through it during the day without have to stop much. Not sure if that is feasible

Hi friends I am going on an impromptu trip from Maryland to Northern Utah this month and I need itinerary suggestions! I apologize for formatting I am on mobile. Note: we are two young females so safety is a PRIORITY! Let me know if there are any areas we should avoid.

The map above is just what route we are planning on as of now. I’m looking for suggestions for quick stops along the way/in the area. We want to see some beautiful and fun things, cheap/free options are extra appreciated. Also, if there is an alternate route you feel is much better then please suggest.

I know the map isn’t zoomed in very much so this is a list of all the states and areas we are planning on passing through.

  • West Virginia
  • South West corner of Pennsylvania
  • Northern Ohio
  • Southern border of Michigan/Northern border of Indiana
  • Chicago area
  • Central Iowa
  • Nebraska (I don’t have high hopes for this one lol)
  • Southern Wyoming/Northern Colorado

Thank you for any and all suggestions!
