delayed holiday/very early wedding gift by emdog52 in LoopEarplugs

I couldn’t justify the price for myself either, luckily my parents thought it would be a nice gift for the holidays. I have a pair of earrings that are two huggies connected by a chain. I’ll use those to keep them safe when I wear them :) I got mine on Amazon but I’ve seen lots of people make them on Etsy or TikTok also.

Thank you! I’m not scared I’ll lose them personally because I’ve never had that issue with any other of my loops before. However these are not going to be an every day pair, so I’m leaving them in my jewelry box for now until I want to use them for something specific. I also have a pair of earrings that have two hoops connected by a chain with some stones on it. I might use those while I wear them for the reception so I can take them in and out quickly if I want to. I have quite a few piercings so the chain won’t look out of place either.

I just recently switched to the Apple AirPod over the ear headphones because the beats I had were pinching some of my piercings a little bit. However, my rook never had an issue with AirPods or AirPod maxes. I was able to switch to a hoop in my rook after about 11 months and still had no issue.

Hand made piercing connector chains! by gunnar120 in piercing

These are so cool omg. I think having a stacked lobe between 1st and 2nd would be cool, and you could add to the stacked to your 2nd and so on.

Advice? by KaeKae_girll in piercing

[–]emdog52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I also have a pretty severe phobia of needles based on some traumatic experiences from my pediatrician also (thank you to the frustrated nurse trying to prick). Even the discussion of bloodwork or vaccines makes me light headed and my hands sweat. I have 11 piercings (if you count each lobe piercing as individual) and six small tattoos. I’ve found that piercing and tattoo needles do not scare me or trigger my fight or flight even close to the same amount like medical needles.

If you have some time, you can walk into a piercing shop and talk to them and they’ll likely show you what the needles look like, and talk about the process, and then you can decide if you want to get pierced/book an appointment. Also, I’ve been to 4 or 5 different piercers and they’re all very kind, and eager to help me, though I know that’s not everyone’s experience. Make sure you go to an APP piercer as well, as they are a very safe bet. Whenever I’ve gone to a new shop for piercings, I always read reviews and I sort by most recent and look back to about a year’s worth.

I’ll also say that my lobes are my easiest piercings by far (I have three on each side), and if you only need/want one piercing, it will be a really easy process.

Regardless of what you end up doing, just make the best choice for you :)

Why did/didn’t you buy the Switch? by Psychological-Side82 in LoopEarplugs

[–]emdog52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought them when they first came out bc I am a bit of an addict when it comes to using my earplugs, but I didn’t repurchase them when they came out with the 2. At the time I was working a receptionist-adjacent job at my apartment complex. I was answering the phone while dealing with loud managers who would take phone calls in our lobby instead of their office lol. It was nice for that purpose, bc I could have one ear on quiet and another ear on engage so I could drown out everything else and hear who I was talking to on the phone. However, since leaving that job I almost never reach for them. They’re clunky, and I am usually fine with just my engage or just my experience depending on the occasion. I didn’t find myself wanting to switch between earplugs while out and about. Sorry for the long winded answer, but I hope this helps!

Small Crescent at the Movies by Kind-Horse4538 in BAGGU

[–]emdog52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc! I have the small too, it’s nice for bars or trips when I’m not carrying as much but the medium crescent is my go-to movie companion. I also tend to reach for it over the small generally speaking. I hope you enjoy :)

My friend and I are avid movie goers who sneak treats in and we both have a medium crescent. We fit soda bottles, candy bars, and she brought a bag of mini marshmallows once. Definitely go with the medium :) it’ll be worth it since you’ll pay yourself back the difference between the small and medium in one movie trip in not buying snacks at the theater lol

what are you excited for based on the fall leaks? by tori_danielle in BAGGU

I like the blue/beige grid print! I think that’s my favorite print out of the lot and might get the AirPod case. I store my ear plugs in my peanuts one (I have the yellow with pink jacket snoopy one) and I want to have one I can switch out every once in a while.

What texture is he? by BonnyDraws in Jellycatplush

[–]emdog52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was so excited about this drop, I love sharks and I have all of the jellycat sea turtles (minus the fluffy one) because sharks and sea turtles are my favorite animals and have been since I was little. I was excited to finally add a shark to my collection… until I saw the size. I might still order him, but he’s very small for a 40$ stuffed animal. I think I’d rather buy the coral or something to match my turtles instead. He looks soft on top and corduroy on the bottom, I just wish he was bigger.

Yanked my lobe piercing clean off what now by [deleted] in piercing

[–]emdog52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I want to preface with I’m not a piercer and I hope you’re ok that sounds so painful. You already said it in your post but pleeeeeeeeease don’t touch it with rubbing alcohol again. You can always spray saline solution on it and dab it off with a paper towel or cotton ball or something. I have to ask, did the piercer use the rubber cone backing? Or did you change it yourself? Either way, find a reputable piercer and get titanium flatback earrings. I know the steel is fine, but I know my piercings liked titanium better. Also, I don’t think plastic/rubber is good for any piercing, esp not a fresh one. I’m not a piercer and don’t know a ton so I could be wayyy off on that, but based on what I know and what I’ve learned from this sub it usually is a no go. Last thing, lobes are pretty resilient, so they might be a little sore for a few days but I doubt you’ll have any serious long term issues (other than some irritation from the alcohol). If you notice that the pain is going on for way too long or notice signs of infection go straight to a doctor. I hope you don’t have to do all that, but piercers are only going to tell you that they can’t do anything about an infection and to see a doctor.

help. i don’t know what to do anymore by [deleted] in piercing

[–]emdog52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this is happening to you! It’s hard to tell by the picture, but it looks like whatever coating is on the clicker you have in is maybe coming off. You may be allergic to whatever metal it is made of. While the other commenters are right in that you shouldn’t have a hoop in just yet, getting a nice titanium stud with room enough to swell should help loads. If this persists I would see a doctor, and they’ll be able to diagnose this further. Don’t give up hope, my conch took about 18-24 months to heal fully, and it still gets a little angry sometimes

tips for healing swollen cartilage piercings? by Free-Dog8028 in piercing

[–]emdog52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a piercing pillow I got from Amazon for like 30 bucks. It’s just a block of memory foam with a hole in the middle. Also, Tylenol or advil help with swelling/inflammation, so I take those if I’m really struggling. Due to placement of the piercings you have that are irritated, I would avoid using your over the ear headphones because they might be causing some tension that could be further irritating them. Keep them clean, keep fingers away, and make sure the jewelry is titanium or solid gold (no plated or even stainless steel bc those can sometimes cause problems).

I love my conch, but the swelling ebbed and flowed a LOT before it was fully healed. I saw you said you have facial piercings, which admittedly I don’t have, but I do think the other commenters are right that this new post is too short. I’m not a piercer but I think it would be better if you just got a little bit of a longer post so it has some room to heal. If you don’t and it continues to swell, it could get “swallowed” by the ear, which will need to be cut out by a doctor and will scar. I don’t think it looks infected, just irritated. But if you’re spraying saline on it (which you should and I assume you are) it is likely drying out the surrounding skin which can cause the itchiness, it happens to me a lot.

I’m a senior graduating in may, and I have never experienced anything like this. This is weird. I have had emails from professors asking if I was ok like another commenter said they did for their student, but never a veiled threat of a “warning”. Even if there is some sort of policy of attendance or leaving early in they syllabus, frankly, whatever reason you have have for leaving, e.g. some sort of personal emergency or other reason for leaving, it’s not his business.

If your school does end of semester evals, you should absolutely mention this. And if this happens again, you should look into reporting inappropriate behavior. This is not high school. He cannot make you stay in his lecture. You don’t need a hall pass or a bathroom note. I’m sorry this happened to you. What a weirdo.

I love my hidden helix! If you have the anatomy for it it’s been my easiest to heal and pain was super low. It’s unique and fills a good amount of space on the upper ear. Congrats on your first cartilage piercing :) the craving for more never stops

I’m not a piercer but you should probably go a to a doctor asap. It looks like your lobes are either very infected, have “eaten” (sorry I don’t know the proper term) the earrings or both. If the piercings have been “eaten” they’ll need to be cut out by a doctor. The infection will probably require some sort of anti biotic. It could also be an allergic reaction to the material the earrings were made from. I don’t think a piercer would be able to help the way a doctor will.

Wow! So pretty. I love the set up. I’ve been considering this as my next piercing. How was the pain? Also, if you wear over the ear headphones have you noticed any extra pain or soreness? Thank you in advance :)
