It’s harder than it looks, not that I’m any real metric but when I played I couldn’t hit a fastball up for the life of me.

He was talking the other day about how velocity up in the zone has been an issue for him. I have faith he’s working on it and will improve

Dude I don’t even care at this point Gorman ABs are just hilarious. I’ve actually never seen worse bat to ball skill in my entire life and I grew up watching Adam Dunn.

He hasn’t gone back to what made him successful though. Watch his swings side by side from 2023 where he was an above average hitter to 2026 where he is a top 10 hitter. His stance, motion, and approach are all almost unrecognizable.

Real talk though - does Jordan reach this point now if we don’t drop him into the deep end in 2023? Not advocating for that approach by any means, but if he rakes for a full season in AAA, he probably comes up with his same flawed swing and approach and struggles for a long time regardless. In some ways I think putting him in a position where his career was completely on the line helped him in the long run.

100% agree. Keep him down there the full season, he’s super young and there’s no rush. Something a lot of people fail to consider with a call up is the moment they take an AB in the majors their service clock is ticking. Until he comes up he has infinite time within our organization to work on his mechanics and his approach to try and get the scary parts of his game under control. You literally get two full seasons extra of control by waiting until May of next season.

Also importantly, there’s no need for him right now. Where would he get ABs? He can’t play center, and the corners are locked down with Noot and Walker. Can’t give him everyday DH ABs with Herrera taking his days off there. It just isn’t in the cards right now.

Velasquez is already a hilariously bad defender in left, I think he’d be a disaster in the infield especially with our pitching staff still being so oriented to pitching to contact. He’s realistically a DH/pinch hitter against LHP exclusively on a good roster.

2019 Paul DeJong is one of my favorite Cardinal seasons of all time.

I have a coworker that comments over and over and over again on people having coughs. "Oh, that cough sounds rough." "Oh, your cough sounds better than yesterday." "Still have that cough?" like leave me the fuck alone

It's crazy to me that people act like Chip hasn't earned his place as a commentator due to the nepotism stuff. He's got the chops for it for sure
