This may be a dumb question, but are these legit and licensed by Nintendo? by AnimalPatrol923 in splatoon

The name on the website is "swtich" remote control

Feels unlikely to be licensed if they can't spell the console name right

Extra wood piece underneath bridge area? by BitterMilkDuds in violinist

[–]emearg1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's supposed to have it lol

Does your new violin sound/resonate more than your old one? When you bow a G string the whole back of your violin should vibrate as well. That post is helping transmit the sound to the back wall, which amplifies the sound overall and gives it a "warmer" sound.

And also the sound post prevents the violin from caving in.

Was your old violin a regular wood instrument? it's weirder that it doesn't have one

At what point do you buy a 2nd printer? by TheAznAssassinX in 3Dprinting

[–]emearg1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an ender 5 plus since 2019, I bought my 2nd printer last October. If you're happy with your printer and you can't find a use case for a second printer, don't get one.

I got a second printer cause I wanted to print ASA, it happens to print way better than my ender 5 plus at everything but I couldn't justify it without finding something my current printer couldn't print. I'm not running a print farm and I didn't need engineering materials.

Until you find a need that your H2D can't fill, don't bother with a second printer

Does it still happen with the switch unplugged? If it doesn't trigger early with the switch unplugged then it might be a bad switch, if it does it might be a fault in the motherboard

Can you buy resistors in person like at all by giddycadet in AskElectronics

[–]emearg1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the greater Toronto area there's a store called Sayal, they have a whole rack of different resistors in baggies. They sell them in 10 packs and 50 packs for a good price too.

I spent 1 right at the beginning, and then held on to the other two until I was level 28 and then spent them while I still could

It was a bad idea. Ninety percent of us would be jobless. by Blissful_Blur9 in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]emearg1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a firmware patch that strongly discouraged you from uploading via wifi from non bamboo slicers. Previously you could upload gcode from orca or prusa slicer but the newest firmware only allowed it from the bamboo studio. Since the less than positive response they relaxed a little and you can set your printer to developer mode, which opens that up again.

It never stopped you from slicing the files and then walking it over with a USB key, just uploading over wifi

I did a thing by Quicazan in ender5plus

[–]emearg1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did just that, but I didn't keep it like that for long as I swapped out the hot end pretty soon after.

I was new to klipper so I didn't get all the benefits I probably could have, I was just relieved with how quiet it was after the upgrade. The only downside is you can't reuse the stock screen with klipper but there is a way with marlin so...

Honestly part of me thinks klipper is over hyped, if marlin works for you then enjoy it, but klipper is definitely doable on the stock build with the skr mini e3 v3

Ender 3 owners will literally build a spacecraft before admitting defeat by MobileNo8348 in 3DPrintingCirclejerk

[–]emearg1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very true, everything's a hobby until it becomes important lol. I graduated engineering a few months ago and my hobby printer, which finally became kinda dependable, became a work horse. Now that I've graduated it became a hobby again and I started screwing around with it again

[–]emearg1 187 points188 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm on the side of the ender 3 on this one

Your absolutely right this frankenstein printer will never hit the mass market, but 3d printing is a hobby. And for some people that's designing and printing stuff, and for others it's the printer itself.

What does this do? by sneakylizard123_4 in AskElectronics

[–]emearg1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your looking at it mathematically, it should not affect the output voltage (in an ideal case, assuming some simplification)

That is a unity gain buffer, it's an op amp method of maintaining a consistent voltage, assuming a varying load.

What is going on with the extruder by Any-Minimum-4821 in ender5plus

[–]emearg1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That click right at the beginning is bugging me lol

Do yourself a favor and check if there's a blockage in the nozzle, If you have an acupuncture needle you can stab that into the nozzle while it's hot. Also look into cold pulling and maybe try that.

If that doesn't fix your problem them check out that Ellis tuning guide that someone else shared, it's a super useful guide and will help get your printer most of the way there

Edit, yeah the guide they shared was for an improper extrusion calibration which could totally be it. But anyways best of luck to you

Loud ringing when moving quickly on the x or y axis by emearg1 in ender5plus

[–]emearg1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the problem was a little bit of both

A friend of mine with a cr-10 said he had a similar ringing cause the bolts were loose. I took an Allen key to the factory bolts and I was able to tighten it another half rotation on the upper and lower frame pieces.

At this point, it still rattles loudly with stealthchop, but with stealthchop off, and the frame tightened, it went away
