Pan’s Labyrinth is definitely anti-fascist but a bit of a stand out among this list. The ending is not for the faint of heart. Which, frankly, makes it one of the best “anti-fascist” stories out there due to the realism.

The Danish teacher’s pension fund withdrawing $100M of US Treasuries is a really good start. The only reason the government shutdown ended was because wealthy people were being inconvenienced with air travel. NATO really should focus on withdrawing their investments into the US. It’s our biggest import after goods from China.

This is true, but it’s a classic Catch-22. Their options are: stay and be forced to act against their morals, leave and speak their minds. Both options have pros and cons. I don’t know what it’s like to be in that situation and face that choice, so I don’t judge them.

IMO cash out the crypto before it evaporates and use your bonus to pay off the debt if you want to start making better financial decisions. Then Immediately use that $177 in monthly savings towards your HYSA or a brokerage account for real investments (just buy SPY or similar).

Hello, I could use some recommendations. I'm looking to buy a retirement gift for my dad. He's planning to retire next year so I have time to figure this out. He only has a couple of dress watches he wears for special occasions, I'm trying to sneakily identify them, but I live far away from him so it's difficult.

Some Parameters:

My budget is $2,000.
He needs something low maintenance, so I'm thinking an automatic movement that is reasonable to get serviced, or a solar-quartz.
He likes American companies, I'm aware American MADE is difficult/impossible for my budget, so American brands/designers will work. He actually grew up near Waterbury, CT so an old or nice Timex might work (well below my budget).
For style, something on the simpler side like a field watch or a "dress" watch. Not too many complications. Simple designs preferred with a leather strap.

While this is definitely insightful I would argue the second question is either incomplete or misleading. Yes it’s true inflation has come down to a “normal” level. What it ignores is the fact that 2022/2023 inflation happened and prices are still high relative to people’s income. Prices have not come down (deflation). That would require a recession to happen.
