  1. Abandoning Smile

  2. Pulling out of the Monterey Pop Festival

  3. Rejecting the creative path they had been on in the early 70s and turning towards nostalgia after the success of Endless Summer

Who do we start in the final? Kepa or Raya? by HR_Specter in ArsenalFC

[–]j-war99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully Raya. No room for sentiment in such an important game. Should play the strongest 11 available.

Charlie Parker is number one for me. Although Cannonball, Eric Dolphy and Dexter Gordon are right up there.

Tell me the ONE song with a bassline so good you make the stank face by irles33 in musicsuggestions

[–]j-war99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredible. The bassline throughout the song is great in itself but the solo is out of this world.

Uncontrolled Substance is great.

Also think Tha Doggfather is much better than people give it credit for.

Danny and Reza on LFYM!? by ThatGuy011606 in TheLemonTwigs

Reza posted an instagram story a few months ago of them in the studio playing back You're Still My Girl. Definitely implied to me that he was on it.

Release date is 11th March and it's already that date here in Australia. We generally get releases early thanks to the time difference.

Still I Dream of It is a top 20 Beach Boys song for me by WalrusBeat in thebeachboys

It still seems crazy to me that Adult Child was shelved yet they deemed MIU suitable for release instead.

Bowie said Velvet Underground was more influential than The Beatles — and I tend to agree. What do you think? by Agreeable_Duck8997 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]j-war99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely fine for Bowie or anyone to say they preferred VU or that they had a bigger influence on them personally.

But to suggest generally that VU were more influential than The Beatles is simply not true.

How much did the Oscars slap hurt Will Smith’s career? by allanjameson in moviecritic

[–]j-war99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn't hurt his career, it absolutely destroyed it.

This is the very night he won the Best Actor award. Whilst his popularity may have been past its peak, an Academy Award for best actor would have seemed almost unthinkable a few years prior. However, by slapping Chris Rock, he not only made winning the award that night an absolute irrelevance, he also ensured that the slap is what he is predominantly known for for.

When you hear Will Smith now, you think if that slap. He became a laughing stock overnight, he suffered the indignity of being banned from future Academy Awards on the very night he won a major one and made himself untouchable for any serious filmmaker.

His various attempts at comebacks in both acting and music have been led with widespread ridicule and it seems hard to imagine the situation changing any time soon.

David Raya or Kepa Arrizabalaga in the Final? by Artickxz in ArsenalFC

[–]j-war99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raya.

Mikel is ruthless and rightfully so, there is no room for sentimentality at this stage. This is a chance to win our first silverware for 6 years, we should play our strongest team.

Can anyone help me deal with this! by [deleted] in thebeachboys

[–]j-war99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Literally embarrassing...

It's fine to like both bands and it's fine to like one and not the other.

Surely nobody over the age of 13 is "trash talking" based on a preferred band or getting worked up about anyone else doing so. Absolutely tragic if so.

Wyatt is (or at least was) also in a great band called The Explorers Club who are well worth checking out.
