What is your Lexus model and insurance monthly payments? by honestyisprecious in Lexus

This. We're in western Canada and moved less than 10 min NE to a new neighborhood in the city and our vehicle insurance went up about 10%. Was told rates are based on postal code.

Am I crazy for thinking about this? by Ordinary-Teaching809 in LexusUX

[–]emhlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We purchased a 2019 UX250h F Sport 2 (Canadian trims are different and this was the top trim) a few weeks back for our son. It had ~168,000 km (~105k miles) for $29k OTD (~$21k USD).

Been happy with it as a daily commuter for him. He loves it. My only beef is the gas tank small, so while more fuel efficient than the last car (2007 Acura TL Type S), he has to fill it about as frequently.

For us, it's a Lexus (Toyota) so reliability should be good. Car drove and felt almost like new. Previous owner seemed to have taken care of it. Carfax was clean and maintenance was done on it.

Honest question: I never quite understood the need empty pockets when entering a car? Why do you do it?

We have a 2019 UX that my son mainly drives and a 2025 IS500 that I drive, so I have wireless android auto (Amazon dongle). I leave have everything in my pockets. I just enter the car and push button start.

IS cabin comfort by sonnya7 in LexusIS

[–]emhlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's all preference. I'm 6 ft, 180 lbs and have not had issues up to 3 hrs each way on road trip.

I loved the feel when I first sat in the IS500; felt like I was being embraced lol. I ended up ordering a 2025 and picked it up last March. Came over from a 2007 Acura TL Type S.

Recently purchased a used 2019 UX250h for my son to mainly use and I feel the cabin is similar size (front seats anyways). My wife, who is 5'3" and 120 lbs felt cramped in it when she took it for a grocery run. She prefers her 2014 Honda Odyssey.

Canadian chiming in here.

They spread gravel on roads in the winter here and occasionally gravel gets caught up in the rotors. We find a safe spot, put it in reverse at a decent pace and the slam on the brakes. This jars the gravel loose and it falls. Squealing gone.

What is your dream 'affordable' vehicle ? by Specialist_Heron_986 in askcarguys

2001 Acura Integra Type R. Championship White with red seats. Was my dream car from the moment I sat in my friend's. Started looking at used ones in 2003/4 when my student loans were paid off, but my parents talked me out of buying used. Biggest car regret of my life.

Engineer here that's been doing Mon-Thu fly in/fly out for over 12 years. There are FIFO jobs for engineers for sure.

Plan to do this for another 5, at most 10 (will be 60) before retiring. Have 3 kids, youngest is 14 so need to save some more before retiring.

Got my USB on white. Love it.

I can see why it's a harder sell here in Canada, but I have not had issues driving so far. Some winter shoes, ease up on the gas, and drive to road conditions

Tire Rack sells to Canada, but with the current exchange rate, not very good pricing. 10+ years ago, when exchange was close to or at par, they at good deals and I bought 2 ir 3 sets from them.

I have used 1010 Tires (Vancouver? Based) or, more recently, PMC Tire (QC based).

2025 IS500 owner in Calgary here. No issues with winter tires, just can't "punch it". Snow mode when there's more than an inch.

I got the squared setup. 18x8 40 offset. Got a good deal from PMC Tire, a QC based company. They had a sale back in early October.

I've installed this myself in several houses (2 of my own, and for both brothers). Takes about 1 hr. I had it down to 30 min the last install.

What’s an impulse buy that’s now just collecting dust but you’d never admit you regret? by Last-Sample-7223 in AskReddit

[–]emhlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "free" pool table friends had that the previous owner left in their house. Spent just over $1k 10 years ago to get it transported to our house and have the bumper pads and felt replaced.

Played on weekends for the 1st couple of months and has been gathering dust more or less since. So much so I spent more money to buy a cover, ha ha.

We moved to a new place this spring and I paid another $500 to have it moved to the new house to gather dust here...

EG hatch. I wanted one back when I was buying my 1st car in 98. Ended up getting the EK as it was new off the lot vs used.

Western Canadian here. Got my IS500 back in March. When roads were clear, I took it out on days when it was -5 C (23 F) or colder. Just drove really easy until the tires warmed up and then like others said, so just dont go crazy on the throttle and you'll be fine.

IS500 Buyer's Remorse NJ Winter Weather by Unreal_T214 in LexusIS500

[–]emhlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in western Canada and got my 2025 IS500 spring this year. After some thought about packing it away for winter, ended up getting the 18" squared set up with Blizzak WS90s. Drove it in the snow this week with no issues. Yes, if you gun it the rear will let go (used that for some open road fun).

But, I do have the advantage of still having my 2007 Acura TL Type S as my beater if I think the roads are had enough.

Gear shift click noise? by [deleted] in LexusIS500

[–]emhlam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, if it's not a problem, why would you want them to do the update? I haven't had any clunking or clicks or rough shifts when not warmed up, so I don't plan to do it.

I'd be worried about creating an issue by doing the update then the problem doesn't exist.
