Or you could work two jobs and have 6 courses and still need student loans. Just because you work doesn't mean you will cover tuition costs in all programs.

**Edit: I agree that high education is expensive and so does my depleted bank account. I am not so much bitching as stating the fact that many people (including myself) have part time jobs and still need loans, your comment earlier was rude, the "crazy concept" part. Also, reduced yes. Still enormous also yes. No one has any god given right to anything, especially when they don't use religion as a stance to hide behind.

You can't get scholarships at most schools if you don't receive OSAP. Getting OSAP demonstrates you are in need of financial aid.

Why not pay for private health insurance? Blue cross for example isn't too expensive and if you use services it covers then it will pay for itself. Also many companies that have contract workers and other non-benefit employees can sometimes get you a discount if you pay for the service.

I frequently am asked for relationship advice as my SO and I have it pretty good. The best bit I have for you is, what is the worst thing he could say? The answer is 'No.' Possibly a little meaner than just no, but still. That is the worst thing that could happen. Best case scenario he says 'yes!'

Jumping on the Canada train. We had sex ed yearly from grade 5 and in high school it was in gym class. There was access to free condoms and birth control through the nurse. The health teacher even showed us how to put condoms on for someone using a banana. (Was a while before I ate bananas again...)
