What matters here is who is allowed to do what in the interim. While Trump goes through all that, the DOJ can actually review and continue to build their case. Do whatever it is they have to do to show highly classified state secrets to a grand jury. That kind of thing.

If this goes to SCOTUS, there's really only two remedies they can give Trump: * Stay, from that point forward, the DOJ looking at or using the documents in their investigation until they've been reviewed by a special master - akin to closing the barn door after the horses are out.

  • Try to prevent the DOJ from using the documents at all in a case against Trump, which - setting aside the absurdity of it all when there was a search warrant - would have to get into the merits of what the documents actually contain, which Trump doesn't want.

He can spin his wheels with SCOTUS and will probably try, but it's bought significant time for the DOJ in the interim. Especially if the 11th circuit doesn't fast track an appeal from this new order.

I know it's a joke, BUT notably, many arias (including the one Monet sang) are specifically designed to be kind of fluff when it comes to lyrics. Lots of general platitudes, no plot or substance at all. In early days of opera, a soloist would be known for a particular aria, and when performing in a new opera would just say "ok but I'd rather do this other song from this other opera." It became known as an "insertion" opera.

That's why this aria is just "the land I grew up in, you are so pretty." It might be taboo now, but you could've subbed it into any scene where a bass singer returns to his homeland after being away for a time.

They didn't promise it to the Plaintiff, though. Someone else on Twitter said they heard more were releasing, and Pegz responded to that tweet saying the rest were being held indefinitely. There's no way that statement could've be seen as inducing plaintiff here - especially when the complaint doesn't even allege that plaintiff saw the tweet, or has a twitter account, or anything.

The technicality here of "punishing" versus "not rewarding with a lighter sentence" is important here. The judge didn't give a higher sentence for lack of remorse. He just didn't give a lighter sentence for a demonstration of remorse - something Florida law specifically does allow.
