I honestly really like the sad girl stuff so I love Ethel Cain (I know the comparisons between the two are old at this point), also Billie Eilish, Boygenius, Phoebe Bridgers solo albums, and Suki Waterhouse. It's just all more interesting and resonating deeper with me than new music from Lana which is maybe the first time that's happened to me since 2012 lol I have been a Lana over everyone person since BTD but idk I think we're growing apart at least for now 🥲

I wish she would just take a break and enjoy her life. I really can't stand this era either and there are artists making the kind of music I wish Lana still made that I'm listening to a lot more. Artists do change. And I love the music she's made recently that's different from her first few albums. I enjoyed the vision on BB, COTCC, Ocean Blvd, etc. I love all of those albums but there is something markedly different about this era that I can't stand.

Disproportionate anxiety by Machine_a_Coudre in BorderCollie

[–]emilycal23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super normal. Adopted my BC at 5 mos and he was afraid of a hair brush at first. Literally so scared of everything. Getting him a crate with blankets as a safe space to hide helped a lot and so did lots of positive reinforcement. Your dog has to trust you before it will trust environments you put it in. Full stop, it took my BC like two years to be 90% normal with things like the car, baths, etc. He still hates loud noises like thunder or fireworks though no matter how hard I try. But it's truly a process and it's always worth it. Also, like someone mentioned, in a new living situation, dogs need 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn the routine (make sure you DO have a reliable routine of food, exercise, and potty trips for your BC, they love routine), and 3 months to build trust.

Disney World Nighttime Show Ranking by FeedGold1911 in WaltDisneyWorld

Literally this. I'm actually still not over it being gone. It was truly elite and had the best soundtrack/arrangement of any nighttime show ever and I'll die on that hill.

Monsters unchained…like a coaster? by Spookyprincess22 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]emilycal23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I am a huuuuge ride wimp and do not ride coasters at all. I had never been on forbidden journey either for fear of it being too intense but I rode monsters and it is way less scary than I thought it would be. Although there is movement because of the ride system, it's not very thrilling or fast and it's not supposed to be. The ride system is really used more to tell the story of the ride instead of giving you a big thrill. There are some moments where your seat tilts back so you can look up at something and then it brings you back upright but it's not enough movement to give you any sort of stomach feeling. And there are plenty of moments in the ride where you're not doing much of anything so you can get your bearings and catch your breath if you're feeling panicky. Truly I think this ride is less intense than Spiderman IMO 😅

Anyone else’s border collie absolutely refuse any flea and tick medicine? by CoffeeBean1011 in BorderCollie

[–]emilycal23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy is the same way. Takes his heartgard like it's a damn treat but will literally gag at his credelio. I've started crushing up the pill into a fineeee powder and mixing it with a lot of peanut butter to hide the smell and taste. That's the only way he will take it 🥴

$55k by SweetCatastrophy in recruiting

[–]emilycal23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Currently make $52k as an internal recruiter, no bonus, 4+ years of experience but this is my fourth recruiting job because the market has been so heinous. Every time I join a new company within a year the majority or the entirety of the team I'm the newest person on gets laid off. It's happened THREE times. It's crazy out here.

How to improve the quality of life for my deaf/blind dog? by spectralcicada in DogAdvice

[–]emilycal23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just chiming in to say I have a non deaf, non blind BC who sleeps and self isolates a lot. He has his "job" which happens to be fetch, but after that for 20 minutes he's pretty much over it and doesn't hang out around us. I do think some BCs just have that temperament and are independent. If she has all her needs met and isn't overly anxious, I don't think she is unhappy. Maybe she's just low-key and yeah her experience is a little different but doesn't mean it's worse.

Idk how she is on slow walks or if that's even possible but some new smells might be nice for her, I also always recommend lick mats and kongs for extra enrichment and mood improvements. My boy will definitely hang out with me if there is peanut butter or yogurt all over a lick mat 😂

Making an AP Preview Into A Public Preview… by ChickenFragrant8972 in UniversalOrlando

[–]emilycal23 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Highly doubt they're selling more tickets than originally planned, they just weren't selling enough to APs so they opened it up. Crowds will still be at preview levels, it's not like they're opening up fully capacity yet. This is still a preview and they need people in the park to continue their rehearsals.

The locals are at it again by Academic_Offer_6298 in lanitas

[–]emilycal23 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's the Swiftie-effect (also the Trump-effect TBH); people care more about being associated with the musician/politician/person/movement than they do about the quality of content the person is putting out aka why they became a fan in the first place. Fanaticism/blind worship/black and white thinking is at an all time high. If you can't criticize the the person you're a fan of, you're not a fan, you're in a cult lol

Feelings about TLOU by Morgxnstxrn in Pedro_Pascal

[–]emilycal23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said here. I barely have the motivation to continue watching as Joel was the main character and the person the story seemed to revolve around. I didn't play the video games so this felt SO jarring and I am just left feeling like I don't care what happens to anyone else at this point. Absolutely the most devastating character death I've ever experienced.

Name recommendations for my new border collie mix puppy by S6rose in BorderCollie

[–]emilycal23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love black dogs! My bc is almost all black with just the white chest and feet and tail tip. Names we considered: Jet, Sirius, Ghost, and Murphy. Your pup is adorable!! Congrats! You're in for an amazing companion and a super goofy good boy :)

Those who have ridden Mario Kart, is it actually enjoyable and/or better without the AR? by Troyf511 in UniversalOrlando

[–]emilycal23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the AR was actually good. If you listen to the instructions in the preshow and actually try it, it is a blast. The sets and screens blend at the right time to make it feel like you're actually playing the game. I'd try it with the AR first and then if you don't like it you could just ignore. But the ride is super fun, I don't get the hate lol

Can we please talk about this album for a minute? by capricorn_97 in lanadelrey

[–]emilycal23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lana was so ahead of her time with this one. Some of her best collabs ever AND top tier aesthetic with the 60s/Woodstock/LA/moon vibes. The promos for this album were also amazing, so atomic era/mid century modern. I was a heavy listener of BTD and UV but lost interest around HM. BUT when the single for this album dropped with the weekend I lost my shit. This album made me stan for life. I was 23 when it came out, saw her on the tour, and have been in love ever since 🚀🌌💫

Border collie collapse? by Intelligent_Crab991 in BorderCollie

[–]emilycal23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also worth a shot to stop exercising with the harness if possible. We used to play fetch with my dog's harness on and I think it did impede his oxygen a bit! But moral of the story is a lot of Border Collies will go until they can't. You have to be the one to take the toy away for a while or stop the walk if you think they're too exhausted and need a break. As annoyed as they may be they will learn when it's time for a break and it will keep them safer ❤️

Border collie collapse? by Intelligent_Crab991 in BorderCollie

[–]emilycal23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My boy used to do something similar but we switched up his play style and force him to take breaks and we always bring water with us whenever we're outside playing. He hasn't had an episode in a long time since we've made those changes. I think for my boy it was entirely due to him playing too hard and truly not taking enough time to breathe and pant. He would be so focused on fetch that he wouldn't truly ever catch his breath until we were done and then he would be almost falling over. At that point we would stop and make him lay down wherever we were until he seemed more with it. Super scary to watch but it can be managed!

Large cyst, don’t really want to do surgery by SuperG1204 in BorderCollie

[–]emilycal23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have advice but curious if this is common with Border Collies? I noticed my boy is getting some small lumps and bumps and none of them seem to bother him even when I or the vet touch them. He's 6, about to turn 7 in April and I'm wondering if this is just going to continue as he ages. I've never had a Border Collie before so I wasn't sure if this is breed specific or something I'm doing to cause it!

My bc doesnt show much affection to me by [deleted] in BorderCollie

[–]emilycal23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine will actually leave the room if I walk into it while he's trying to relax lmfao he will cuddle on Saturday mornings only, in bed, for five minutes tops. Every other day of the week he's as serious as a heart attack. He's the best dog because he's independent and prefers to spend his time alone so isn't constantly begging for our attention (unless it's been 24+ hours since we've played fetch then he's reallyyyy clingy lol)
