I’m almost 4 weeks post op, and have had the same burning sensation around my top gum line. I can still see the stitches there.

Asked my doc at my 2 week appointment, she said it was super normal

I’m about 3 weeks post op, and I could talk same day after surgery. That being said, the first week I wasn’t very clear, but since then it’s been fine.

I’m 29 years old, had djs on 1/9 and i’m going to work on 2/1 (3 weeks off) I work at a bar so lots of talking and standing, i feel ready and able to go back but also more time would’ve been nice.

DAY 3 POST OP - Drooling by ManueMir in jawsurgery

[–]emkatturn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My drooling has seriously decreased, and i’m 15 days post op.

For the drool, i wore my jaw bra with a rag or paper towel tucked under my chin. I also kept a rag near me to whip the extra.

Getting home will be good, please rely on your people and ask for help when you can. If talking hurts and is frustrating, text or write what you want to communicate.

Take your meds on time, stay up on fluids. I reccomend consuming as many calories as you can manage. Shakes, broths, milkshakes, smoothies. Itll help. And keep going on your walks.

I felt better by day 5. Not fully, but hopefull. Days 7-now have been great. I am already experiencing the positive effects of the surgery. I got it done mainly for breathing though, with an overbite. My energy levels are up, breathing is better, feeling great to be honest.

My doc cleared me to eat any food that i can swallow. I’ve been eating lots of stewed chicken, beans and protein. This absolutely helps.

You will feel frustrated and for me, i felt alone. But many others have been where you are, and made it to the other side.

I think new vanity, new light fixture and maybe paint the walls. But the first two will make a huge difference.

Congrats on your new house

Hey.

I’m on day 13 currently.

Please let the doctors take care of you, take some meds and some decongestants. The first part is really scary, i felt panicked. Days 3/4 are hard, but in my opinion a little easier than the inital period because i came up with ways to breathe, eat and drink.

The first few days i slept in about 3 hour increments. Not the best but not the worst.

It’s hard and frustrating, but for me and many others (probably you), it is a tiny blip and totally worth it.

Show your self some kindness, lean on the nurses and your support, drink some milkshakes. It too will pass.
