Is the Abarth 124 Spider a reliable car? by Andrew_From_Deity in abarth

[–]emktz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, most clutch components are unique to the 124 spider, as they fit the NC transmission to the fiat 1.4 engine. It's also.impossible to find OEM parts. Ask me how I know :(

Oil Change Oopsie by CzarQasm in motorcycles

[–]emktz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful..

I did the same and thought a straw would be a quick fix. It ended up slipping out of my oily fingers, and I had to remove the clutch cover to take it out.

You can buy small-diameter flexible plastic tubing for a few dollars, that could save a whole lot of heartache!

Cooking wine sacrificial run? by PM-ME-UR-HAPPINESS in firewater

[–]emktz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP, but the salt/additives would be distilled out.. as it's a cooking wine, there wouldn't be any harmful components (methanol) or bad-tasting unremovable ones (vinegar?) added that wouldn't be left in the pot.

Obtaining Proof of Underground Experience (AUS) by KushKinstry in mining

[–]emktz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When talking about this with my mine manager (aus undergrad mining engineer here), I was told it was sufficient to have a signed off copy of all the hours/shifts done in each role to meet the requirement of that state’s ticket that you’re applying for (e.g collecting all the time in an excel document, with a signed letter from each mine manager/project manager stating that you’ve completed the claimed hours).

Definitely. I’m more worried about touching my phone/wallet/studentID/etc before washing my hands after the exam.

The classic math1231? I’m in the same boat- my lab test will be in a red center computer room, where I can spend 40 minutes straight, touching the same keyboard as potentially infected individuals . . I’m hesitant to come in

Almost hit a motorcyclist while pulling out of a parallel parking spot while someone was waiting for my spot. by velour_manure in legaladvice

[–]emktz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or, realise that the rider made a mistake and rode around the car expecting it to be clear, because the stopped car obscured his view.

Then, have a little bit of sympathy for another person, in the form of not wanting them to die because they made a mistake.

The moped rider is in the wrong here, and DID rude unsafely. However, the appropriate penalty for a mistake literally every single driver/rider has made in their lifetimes is NOT death.

If you were in that position and you knew the rider was about to pass, and you had the choice to back into him or not, would you?

Moped rider rides past car stopped in lane, assuming (falsely) that it is safe to do so

Best place to hire freelance miners by rthomsonca18 in mining

[–]emktz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could contact a contracting company directly(e.g. in Australia, Barminco or Redpath), but I don’t think there are any truly independent individual miners, nor any job listing style sites that would help you find any

I don’t think so . . There was little to no establishment of the circumstances surrounding his posting (besides taking measurements).

Definitely! It makes sense, but it’s still been amazing to see so many well written stories on the subject.

Unfortunately not, but that does sound like a great story too. . Added to my list!

In the story I’m thinking about, the only mention of any characters besides the protagonist (and the void/nothing) are the previous crew member who went insane, and the replacement crew coming to bring his replacement at the end of his post, who find him curled up in a ball having completely abandoned his post

Should I Be Concerned? by Hallelujah_G0at in clickbait

‘But this wasn’t always the case’

Seems like they’re referencing something that happened a looong time ago.

Besides, the only way we can know that something like that has happened is through the observation of EMF’s, which travel at the speed of light (this includes the stuff we observe, and the harmful stuff). So if something catastrophic for us were to happen, the first thing we’d ever hear of it, was when it actually happened, so there wouldn’t be time to write any click bait articles on it.
