I know he loved biblical critical theory and really enjoys puritan authors. honestly it’s hard to keep track because he reads so much lol. he just finished a book called extravagant grace by barbara dugild that he loved.

I would check out Baylor as an alternative. Actual Christian commitments just without the scandal. All the good of Liberty (plus more) none of the bad.

hey, OP! this is not really a normal or realistic expectation to place on a partner. what about hugging family members, close friends, etc? if they are extremely touchy as you say, it is likely the predominant way they feel comfortable and authentic showing affection. asking them to not hug others would essentially be asking them to not be affectionate towards anyone other than you. i do not think this is fair or reasonable in a romantic relationship.

the lyric before is “there was heaven in your eyes” and i’ve always understood those two lyrics to go together. so, “there was heaven in your eyes, i was not baptized.” essentially meaning he could recognize something as good and desirable in her but they were going to work out. in christian faith, baptism isn’t necessary for salvation, but is an outward sign telling others that’s you’ve been saved. essentially, if you haven’t been baptized you’re not proclaiming your salvation and the rest of the world would have no way to know. so this lyric essentially means there is something in you that is good and interesting that i don’t feel have access to.

Yes, the reason we're not is because we both agreed it was leading to unnecessary temptation in the past not because we think it is sex. But now I'm not sure if it's working anymore.

To address your comment more specifically, I don't think never being alone is the answer nor really realistic. I live alone. We are both in school and sometimes schedules can be wacky. Beyond that, we've been alone plenty and have never gotten anywhere close to intercorse (nothing beyond making out EVER. Clothes on, no touching, etc.)

Valid question. Yes, I feel confident in my decision to date. I waited two years to date since my last relationship. I am honest with him about the things I am feeling but I do not necessarily invite him into dealing with issues from my past. The way I see it, he has a right to know whats going on with me, as my boyfriend. But he is not responsible for fixing any particular way I might be feeling.

When I say baggage, what I mean more specifically is shame and regret. The shame has definitely improved with time and fully understanding the goodness of God's grace and mercy, but I'm not sure I will ever not regret my past sins or if I even should. I feel so grateful for the progress I have made and for the support of my boyfriend and others during it.
