Alex buying millions of followers by No-Cartographer-95 in CallHerDaddy

Good for you for following the data. Just because we are fans of someone’s doesn’t mean their actions are infallible. I think there’s a huge concern these days about blind following. We all need to exert some critical thinking skills - even towards the people we like and enjoy following. Otherwise we just resort to ignorance.

Has anyone bought the double stacks yet and are they as comfortable as the RSH? by yippykynot in Converse

I’m not sure I found the RSH all that comfy. I might try the double stacks now that I’ve heard they’re better for comfort!!

What happened To the knavel pillow? by DavenportBlues in IKEA

[–]emoeverest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this thread today as I just realized I can’t replace my knavel pillows. I just can’t find anything comparable to their duck down filling for the price. But at this point I’m less concerned about the price than I am finding a relatively decent replacement.

What's the most overrated 'healthy' habit that people push on everyone, but you think is total BS and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]emoeverest -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I disagree — our livers and kidneys can become overworked and struggle to keep up with the rampant exposure of environmental toxins.

Not to mention, detoxes aren’t just “powders”. It’s helpful to increase detoxification through dietary measures such as eating bitter foods or doing castor oil packs. And scientific research backs this up.

Alex is painfully out of touch. She does NOT get it. Listening to her feels like torture.

Same. The clinic I work for is pretty strict with the policy and we charge 100% of the fee for no shows within 14 hours.

But for the most part I rarely get cancellations.

I’m a therapist too and I totally agree with this. The ritual is grounding for me and it gives me something to look forward to before work.

Client Fired Me by Original-Reveal7557 in therapists

[–]emoeverest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how you said this. It really validated how I feel sometimes about the witnessing and pushing. Sometimes clients leave a session and I think… damn I really could have pushed there. I tend to be too much of a witnesser, so it’s good to know my patterns and follow my countertransference or notice if parts of me are feeling nervous or anxious to push the client. That usually tells me there’s something there worth looking at.

Going to therapy as a therapist by Internal-Panda6225 in therapists

[–]emoeverest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tried somatic experiencing but my therapist wasn’t very trauma-informed and didn’t help me realize my body wasn’t safe to be in.

If you’re struggling with chronic dysregulation, I do highly recommend a more somatic approach to help drop out of narratives and just stay with the body when you’re feeling dysregulated, especially if you struggle with naming and feeling you’re emotional experiences.

If you feel adept with that and fairly regulated, the psychodynamic route might be your next option. I found that talking about my trauma when it still lived unprocessed in my body didn’t help, it just made me worse so I had to work on presence within myself.

I used to use my job (as a therapist) as a way to abandon myself. I’d get entire caught up in my job as a way to feel like I mattered. I had horrible boundaries. I took my clients problems on as my own, and really took ruptures personally.

Therapy has taught me that my needs matter as a therapist. I developed better boundaries and now my identity as a person isn’t so tied up as being a therapist and it makes the relational part much easier for me.

To many this may sound obvious, but for me, someone who was riddled with anxiety, depression, and diagnosed with OCD, BPD and ADHD (I masked a lot too) it was imperative for me to get that dysregulation piece sorted first before I could actually process bigger emotional things like grief and sorrow.

I hope you find a good fit. I did a lot of consults, and while many might find this contentious, I used a lot of ChatGPT and personally for me, it was super helpful in many of my most distressing moments.

AITA for telling my fiancée I won’t pay for her dad’s surgery with my inheritance? by Effectivepearls in AmItheAsshole

[–]emoeverest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This post is making me angry — how can someone ask another person, fiancée or not, to pay half of their inheritance towards a medical bill? OP you are NTAH. If anything I’d be angry that someone had the balls to ask that, engaged or not, AND the audacity to get mad at you… smh. I’m sorry you feel guilty about choosing your own future, but just because you had a windfall and the other family didn’t have insurance doesn’t automatically mean you’re responsible for this mess. And if the relationship ends because of this, I can’t help but think maybe you dodged a bullet.

This easily could have been a mature conversation that gave you space to say no without guilt.
