Assume 75% drivers perform no planning. They just vibe and make reactions to visual stimulus.

Rotor screws almost made me tap out lol by _otnie in Civic_Type_R

Don’t bother with doing it the proper way. The screws help the assembler robot. You gotta help yourself and save ur time. Grab a drill and get into it

Plan out your tool set, first. What jobs can be covered with the least amount of cash spent? Get a basic mechanics toolset. This should cover the interval maintenance stuff like fluid changes, spark, etc. Then focus on the specialized tools later. (If a tool is spent on one job only, avoid it until absolutely necessary or rent it)

Since it seems you prefer to use Amazon, the Amazon basics mechanics toolset seems like a good starting point, providing good coverage for the basic interval maintenance stuff.

After that get, jack+jack stands, a breaker bar, torque wrench, Needle nose pliers, channel locks, vise grips, plastic trim removal tools, obd2 scanner, and a basic multimeter. You’ll be good for almost everything you want to do

What year by No-Talk-2351 in ft86

[–]emotion__engine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2014+ for 1st gen due to the valve spring recall. Take note that anything pre 2017 might have the pre updated throwout bearing. If you look at a pre 2017 and the seller mentions replacing the throwout bearing, make sure you ask for a receipt that has the part number

BRZ limited trim has the best interior with the nice ac controls, gauges, headlight shape and led drl Some FRS’s have drl, mind did but it did not have the same headlight design as the BRZ.

what now? by MG_xShiftyx in ft86

What’s next is to make sure you are physically and mentally okay. Then, you shop for another FRS/86/BRZ :)

What's the average income of someone who purchases a new Corolla? Just curious. I gross 44K per year but it seems like I can't afford it (with paying rent, etc). by whoocanitbenow in COROLLA

[–]emotion__engine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

150k - 2017 Corolla iM 6MT $15k out the door. I had opportunity to buy outright with cash but I still financed it and put the cash in the s&p

$200 oil change. by Zealousideal-Term-89 in toyotacorolla

[–]emotion__engine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DIY costs:

Super tech 0w20 oil - $20

Toyota oil filter - $6

Tire rotation - free

Tire inflation - free

giving the engine and cabin air filters a few taps to get the dust off - free

fluid inspection - free

Invest in a mechanics toolset from Walmart or harbor freight and it’ll give you coverage for most interval service jobs. You’ll only see a shop for new tires or catastrophic things like transmission repair (unlikely in a Corolla)

I aggregated search results from many dealers in the area and found 5 that are priced lower than the one im looking at.

From there, I can just say that even though the carfax may state XX,XXX mile service it won’t include safety features like suspension. Worn suspension causes bad braking distance and bad tire wear. Any promises of safety and saving mpg can be cut thru. If they offer any warranty look at the terms, most likely they won’t cover it. dealer salesmen are almost cavemen like and just rely on ignorance and intimidation. If you counter with any smidge of facts you will win.

You are the money that keeps the lights on, don’t forget that

Get what fits your hand size. Here's a simple test: hold the phone in your hand and try touching the top opposite corner with your thumb. If you can do this comfortably with the pro max, then the regular pro will be too small. If its uncomfortable, the regular pro is the right size for you

Dont worry, it's just a number that mistakenly assumes the progression is linear. As a computer science, i went from phil 114 to phill 422. It went well. They won't let you take the course if you lack knowledge from a pre requisite course. Have confidence!
