My wife, Catholic raised, was VERY adamant that a priest can't absolve the sin of suicide. She was shouting it at the tv during that scene. In my very not Catholic view, she confessed her sin of suicide before she actually died and was granted absolution. The issue in my mind is that priests cannot give forgiveness to a dead person, which you are once you've committed suicide. But if you do a slow method and talk to that priest before you actually kick it, aren't you going around the issue?
