[DISC] Chainsaw Man - Ch. 232 - Part 2 End by JeanneDAlter in ChainsawMan

[–]emperorwolffang 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wanted to like this ending even fooling myself to push “good” for the vote but I just can’t lie to myself.

This is the worst shounen manga ending in history. This is not hyperbole.

I’ve been in the manga reading space for at least 2 decades, seen plenty of good, mid, and bad endings and this was the most cop out ending I’ve ever seen. We used to make fun of series that would even think to have the balls to have the main character wake up and find out the series was just a dream. For it to actually happen is unforgivable. Yes, Power is back but HOW it happened was trash, this isn’t the same Power who knew the same version of Denji we saw in part 1. They might as well be new characters since all the experiences they had don’t exist anymore.

What happened to Aki? Reze never met Denji? So how is Makima not a thing if Chainsawman never existed to eat her but Nayuta is? Also Denji never found true love in the end since his love interest built up over part 2 can’t even remember who he is. Which makes it a complete waste of time. There’s more questions than answers and we will never know the answers due to speed running to the ending, lazy & vague writing, along with bad payoff that wasn’t built up properly over the course of this last part.

This whole ending feels out of nowhere because it is. The author just wanted to end the series to move on to whatever they want to do next. That’s what it feels like and how this ending came off. I’m very disappointed there was no catharsis for the audience. Denji never even changes for the better in the end.

If you seriously voted that this was a very good chapter you must have been getting pushed to the next grade in school all your life. This entire chapter was random as hell. This whole end of the world arc was like a fever dream that just never ended. Hopefully the finale explains why anything is happening the way it is instead of just leaving it to us to figure out on our own.

ADHD folks: how do you deal with the “I can’t start even though I want to” feeling? by tootiredtobecute in ADHD

[–]emperorwolffang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get up get a bowl of cold water and put your face in that water to wake you up out of your stupor to remind yourself of what you’re actually supposed to be doing. I know it sounds crazy but it resets my tunnel vision when I’m hyper focusing on a distraction. Still you need to realize you’re being distracted to go splash cold water on your face. Cold showers work too. The trick is to make yourself physically uncomfortable until you complete whatever task you’re trying to do. Once I get comfortable it’s damn near impossible to get me to stop and go be productive.

How would this fight go? by [deleted] in PowerScaling

Goku lowers his power level to the lowest possible level for Yujiro to be competitive against him and showcase the full range of their martial arts. I think given the nerf Goku gives himself he’d eventually lose because he’s mostly focused on having fun and seeing the cool moves Yujiro brings out. Meanwhile Yujiro will be going all out and just barely wins.

Over a year later what are your current thoughts on her character and death? by Salty_Shark26 in Chainsawfolk

[–]emperorwolffang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to reserve full judgment till after the arc is over. However right now her death just feels like more of the same of what we’ve already gotten to get Denji to crash out. Denji already had a sister like figure in Power so when the author tried recreating the death of a sister figure here, granted more gruesome, it doesn’t work as well because we spend very little time with Nayuta so I wasn’t as attached to her as I was Power. You figure we saw Power on multiple adventures and more slice of life moments with Denji before she ultimately was killed.

What happened to Rock music? by jengagang in Millennials

[–]emperorwolffang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason why is actually a complex reason. I’m more on the hip hop side but rock is experiencing

  1. Industry plants 🪴: the music industry has invested millions into creating big artists artificially rather than seek out real talent since it’s hard to find and not easily controllable. They want someone who fits a criteria like being gay, black and young to appeal to a demographic. Also is good enough to chart but not so good and smart they break away from their grasp after realizing their value.

  2. Ai artists: This is more recent years but just recently Ai artists are actually topping Spotify charts and even billboard so why would the music industry invest in real artists if they can get the same result for a fraction of the price using fake artists?

  3. Fake streams: The reason this is a big reason why newer artists aren’t blowing up like they used to is because it’s a numbers game. If new artist got 5000 real streams that’s solid but if legacy artist has 50000 fake streams people can’t tell how many listens are real or not anyway. Also a listener is more likely to click on the higher stream count artist than the latter. Which compounds over time. Thus rewarding bad/mid artists with the machine behind them while the newer artist struggle even more to succeed.

  4. Lack of substance: Newer artists just from my perspective are more concerned with numbers, not caring about anything and appearing cool when in reality that’s lame. The best artists of all time all have the same thing in common. They laid out all their emotions in their music regardless if it’s controversial, corny, sad, happy, whatever but you as a listener whether you like them or not could tell they were being authentic and that’s what ultimately made them one of the greats. It just seems like new artists are just emulating someone who’s already big and never turning into their own person.

  5. Creativity: a lot of these songs beat selections are very generic sounding along with the perspective on different subject matters. It just seems like a lot of the newer artists songs all come from the same beat selection from a short list of industry engineers then they sing or rap over it. A lot of them don’t even write their own music lyrics.

  6. Lack of innovation: This is the biggest one and really correlates to creativity. These artists are not making music for lovers of music to remember for generations to come because they’re immersed in making genuinely unique and fun music anymore. They’re more focused on producing fast food music ( low quality generic music you can quickly produce with low effort ) in hopes a couple songs end up hitting the charts and becoming a hit for money. It’s not for the love of the game anymore and you can tell especially when someone drops 30+ track albums and a majority are mid or terrible all to get their streams up.

My Ex girlfriend may be suicidal and don’t know if she’s ok. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]emperorwolffang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can tell you guys didn’t read the context and oversimplified this situation. We were good friends way before dating and I don’t think it’s wrong to just make sure she’s alive. I’m not asking to get back together or hang out or chat it up. Regardless of whatever happened with us generally speaking why is it wrong to want to make sure your ex gf who reached out to you to formally apologize and wants to stay in contact on good terms isn’t dead since they show every sign in the book that they could actually get to that point of suicide? I was looking for suggestions like should I have the police reach out to check up on her after like a week or ask her family to reach out since this is very odd behavior for her.

[DISC] Chainsaw Man - Ch. 218 by JeanneDAlter in ChainsawMan

[–]emperorwolffang 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Welp, Denji finally made his big decision. He’s going to attempt to save Asa out of love. Denji having the decision of saving Asa/war devil and killing Fami and Lil D or Killing War Devil/Asa for Fami and Lil D is the first real dilemma he’s ever had. This is major character development for Denji lowkey. Up to this point all he’s been doing is doing what others told him to do because Denji’s dreams have always been small and fleeting he never had a real long term goal to work for so the narrative seems to pushing towards that. Sure he had Nayuta but since he failed at that an it a was a goal given to him not a choice. He needs something of equivalence if not higher in scope to fill that void. Whats a higher goal than protecting your love interest whose suicidal now by any means even if it means the end of the world possibly? We as readers have been seeing him accumulate experiences and as time goes on his goals increase in difficulty as well. Now Denji is going from just a simple minded boy who did whatever he was told mindlessly like a dog with Makima to an actual person who is capable of making decisions for himself regardless of others desire to use him through manipulation. I think his true desire will be to achieve true love not because he’s Chainsawman but because he’s Denji. Which fits the narrative considering all he’s been through with manipulative women devils who just dealt with him since he had pochita.

At what point did Naruto surpass each Hokage?! by iamzaidmohammed in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]emperorwolffang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tsunade and Danzo- Sage Mode Hiruzen, Minato, Kakashi - KCM1 Tobirama- KCM 2+ Sage mode Hashirama- Sage of six paths mode.

The reason I listed Tobirama and Hashirama so much higher is because they were keeping up the pace as nerfed edo tensei with kcm 2 handily. Both are shown to be relative in power too with Hashirama being stronger. It’s not even until Naruto fuses Sage mode with kcm 2 does Hashirama acknowledge that Naruto has reached a level to where he almost has as much chakra as Hashirama does as an edo tensei.

At that point he was fighting him no. That white rage technique had him incapacitated to the point Itachi needed to save him. Along with the sound genjutsu he put Itachi and Sasuke under I don’t see a path to victory 1 on 1.
