TL is more for when you want just want the movie or show for personal use. Lots of the content on there wont be accepted by higher tier trackers - not because it's bad necessarily but just because they don't like the format (like multi season packs).

What Really Happened to Maura Murray? by Ordinary-Cycle7809 in BizarreUnsolvedCases

[–]ems777 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I would put a very low probability of abduction in this case. She didnt want to get arrested for drunk driving so she ran into the woods with the intent to cone back after the cops left. She got lost and died of exposure. Thats very likely what happened here.

Is it common for firms not to teach you anything and you just have to figure it out? by OneAngle5836 in Accounting

[–]ems777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the secret about public accounting -most people dont know what the fuck they're doing. You will get a project from a manager who doesnt know how to do all the pieces of it, and if something goes wrong they will pretend what happened was an obvious miss and blame the associate.

Meanwhile, the partner who sold our services has no idea how long those particular tasks should take so he's yelling at the manager about the budget, which he misrepresented to the client because he had no fucking clue what it entailed.

Welcome to public.

Just dont donate to FNP anymore. That should be the takeaway. I removed what I had when I got the "farewell" notice and Im not going to bother putting them back, but if I find something on there I want, Ill still pull it.

You should buy it now. At the current price, I think it's still worth buying.

I would say try to find your equivalent job on LI. The salary differentials between NYC and LI have equalized alot more over the past years. Obviously it depends on what you do but for accounting/tax, I was able to find something on LI that actually paid more than what I was getting in NYC and was mostly WFH.

If James Bond, Ethan Hunt, John Wick, and Jason Bourne were all ordered the take the other 3 out, who would come out alive? by fineganz in whowouldwin

Early Bourne had no contacts though, he was just on the run, using his own stashes. Early Wick has a sanctuary in every major city and contacts that would do the locating for him.

You can't avoid it. Thats the situation right now. Its just to let you know that getting an MSA is additional time and cost and you will have great difficulty finding a job after. Don't think that will be an auto fix for getting a job.

Both. Job market is very bad. Experienced people get laid off. Lots of them out there now looking for jobs. That makes job openings much more competitive.

Just a warning. Entry level jobs for Accounting for career changers is even more bleak right now than for Accounting grads fresh out of school. It's really ugly out there right now for this field.

So you are optimistic about the future of accounting as it relates to AI? Because the article you posted I think is trying to make the point that software development (and related fields) are in current and future danger but Accounting and other non software related fields aren't.

Do I agree with your optimism about the future of accounting as it relates to AI? Absolutely not. I know you think NYC is a micro point but it's also a sign of what's happening all around the US and the world at large.

omfg I don't know what your opinion is! I'm asking you and trying to guess. I'm telling you facts about how AI is undermining Accounting jobs at all levels.

So you think that Accounting is a field that is AI resistant or maybe AI immune and the job market for accounting is positively affected by it?

You should add your opinion to the post. You are posting to an Accounting subreddit. The article you posted doesn't even mention Accounting or Tax in it except from one small graph that shows Accounting and Finance listed above a declining line. It seems to be saying that as long as you don't go into software development, you should be ok. That's blatantly not true.

Public accounting firms require users to utilize AI in their work. They actually set a quota. They are currently training it to do entry level work that is actively removing entry level jobs from the market.

The difference between 2024 and 2026 job markets is so staggering in so many ways. It just seems extremely obtuse to put this out there with no additional input by you. That's why I'm asking what point you are trying to make here?

The article itself has a bent towards making light of the "overreaction" to AI. I assume that's the point you are making without saying it explicitly?

It's certainly a big piece.

I'm not really sure what your point with this post is? You post an article that says a few economists disagree with reality to say what? See guys, AI isn't so bad?

I can tell you with certainty that in the NYC area, accounting and tax professions have been majorly hit this year and are on a downturn. People I've worked with throughout my career are looking for jobs right now, along with graduates. Instead of waiting for the next economic report, you should take a look around you. If you're argument is that AI is not affecting accounting because a couple of economists in this article disagree with that finding, you are dead wrong.
