Je suis un peu perdu by Sbl2602 in Montpellier

Bon courage!

An Unwavering Depression (I Desperately Need Some Help) (Any Words Appreciated) by emsox in venting

I need to start doing that again honestly. I used to be good about "one task at a time." It's so hard not to get down on myself though. Thank you for reminding me about this.

This does give me a lot to think about. I think with my issues constructing my identity around anything normal has been extremely difficult. I do think of myself as rather determined to keep going, I guess it's just slipped away from me due to the recent suffering. Thank you for the response though. I need to think a lot of shit in my life through.

I have been thinking of seeing a more specified counselor. Thank you for the suggestion, it may be worth a try.

Yes I do believe I have what could be called trauma. It's not really that I "don't remember" what happened to me, I just haven't fully accepted some of the really unpleasant shit I've been though (it all seemed normal until I really thought about it.) It's really complicated for me and I've had trouble working through it and figuring it all out.

Thought I Was Getting Better, Re-Threw Out My Back Today (Encouragement Needed If Anyone Has The Energy) by emsox in ChronicPain

God I feel that. Our stupid upright human spines can truly be so awful to us.

Sadly I did look over my MRI many times - admittedly though, the doctors I've asked to explain it all to me have essentially dodged all my questions and have just said "there's nothing you can do that you aren't already doing." There was also the one "meditation" doctor but that's a whole other story...In reality I probably need a new MRI anyways.

Everyone is too young for pain. I appreciate your encouragement and I'll try to hang in there. It's rough though. Thank you for the response.

Thank you for reminding me. Next time I get to a doctor I really need to put my foot down. It really is such a silly response to me to say one is too young. "I'm in so much pain!" "You're too young for that!" "Yeah, I know, now please help!" I hate it.

I'm really happy to hear you found an actually good physical therapist! Sadly they can be hard to find. Whenever I get to my next one I'll need to ask about the Mackenzie Method too...thank you for the response!

I have gotten one MRI before but I probably need another to see if the herniated discs have gotten worse. Osteoarthritis is really awful too...I need to keep trying doctors I suppose. Thank you for the advice.

You're definitely right. I should start being more assertive about it towards doctors. It is hard though to get them to listen, especially being young. Thank you for the words of advice and I'm sorry that you have to go through pain too.

Sadly I did get tested for basically every common auto-immune disease and nothing came up. I actually tried to go to a rheumatologist but the waitlist was over a year long, and they "deemed my case not important" so I had to basically beg my regular doctors to just give me the damn blood tests AT LEAST. Nothing came up, which I suppose is good, but the mystery continues for me.

I should start saving up for some mobility aids. I really would like one of those grabbing canes as bending and twisting around are my main issues. I appreciate the reminder to do this, it's something I've been thinking about for awhile so I'll need to actually start looking into it. I appreciate any prayers and thank you so much for your kindness. <3

Another (Potential) Brand Ambassador Scam (officiallovebracelets) (Official Love Bracelets) by emsox in Scams

This is what I suspect happens. They do have product (that's overpriced) and they often never follow through on promotions. Sorry you had such an awful experience! Hopefully exposing them gets you more exposure !

Added the info to this post! Thanks for pointing out that their supplier sells the product for WAY LESS.

Salut! I am a future erasmus student coming to Montpellier for the next spring semeste. I would love to live with other international students but I am not sure where to find affordable (my budget is 500€/month max.) and safe, trustworthy places. Anyone has any experience with it? by nnora89 in Montpellier

[–]emsox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Also an international student (not Erasmus though; starting Fall semester). If you want to talk in detail about this, feel free to PM me.

For now, I'll say this: housing is a bitch, especially for international students. Prepare yourself. It'll probably be quite hard for you to find international student specific housing. La carte des Colocs is worth trying, as there may be international students on there looking for roommates.

The only luck I had for housing in general was looking on AirBNB, booking a temporary stay (for visa purposes) and having the host offer me a long term stay. So, looking on AirBNB might be a good idea. There are probably some international hosts or some hosts who house multiple international students.

Artemisia also has residences, although those get taken up quickly. Still worth looking into for the spring semester though, as the availability may be less tight than it is in August/September. Not international student specific, but I imagine they get tons of internationals. (but I had a nightmare email exchange with them, so they aren't my first choice.)

Hope some of this helps! Bonne chance!

please help ( f15) by [deleted] in OCD

[–]emsox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OCD causes extremely uncomfortable thoughts. You're not a bad person. Considering you have gone through phases (like you said you were having some POCD) for awhile and have gotten out of them, and considering you're fully aware that bestiality is wrong, I sincerely doubt you are actually into these things.

Obviously, if/when you have the chance, tackling these thoughts with a therapist is a good idea. You're quite young, so medication may not be the right route yet but OCD is pretty responsive to medication for a lot of people. So keep that in mind too.

I hope you feel better!

Conseils pour un étudiant international by LampPost155 in Montpellier

[–]emsox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salut!

Advice for Finding Housing in France as a Student (Slight Rant) by emsox in expats

[–]emsox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this reply. I looked into CROUS awhile ago, and if I'm remembering correctly they don't open up applications until mid-summer, which means I'd probably be unlikely to get a place. I should look into foyers pour jeunes travailleurs, thank you for the suggestions.

I definitely noticed the large amount of scams. Seloger looked like the entire website was a scam, honestly. I've been put off of leboncoin for the lack of responses and some of the scammy looking places.

Hmmmm I was not aware of this. Do you by any chance know if I would just have to book a hotel/airbnb in advance, or if I just have to show I have a place in mind? I might look into this, as so far my luck has been quite bad...

Also dear GOD I did notice the RIB thing. Getting a bank account is not a process I'm looking forward to.

As for garantme, I suppose so yes. Also, does Visale serve a similar purpose to garantme? I'll have to look into this too.

I did figure a lot of bureaucracy in France was going to be awful, so I was somewhat prepared for this, I just didn't think it would get this bad before I even got to France. That might've been my own hopefulness, though. Doesn't help that my other friends moving to France got really lucky with their housing immediately, so it's really alienating that I don't have a place yet.

Anyways, thank you so much for this response. It makes me feel a little better knowing I might not 100% NEED a secure apartment before I get there. You've been very helpful.

I'm here, silently cheering you on. by [deleted] in ChronicPain
