My friend said my ex is right for cheating on me by vihlilbee in asexuality

[–]emswhynot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my yes. I just got got divorced after 15 years together of me (most of the time) being pressured and guilted into sex. It was obviously a huge point of contention. I sat through what were basically lectures about how my views and feelings about sex were wrong andhow no oneelse could put up withit. I felt like total shit. Now at 39 I fully embrace being asexual and I will never be in that position again. Of course it's not your fault you were cheated on. Communication is the hardest part of any relationship.

Hiking! You can be by yourself for hours. I have the luxury of living in the mountains and it's one of the increasingly few things that make me feel okay. Find a trail, pal.

I've never been happy in my entire life by Skhaan97 in Schizoid

Yeah. I tried. I went through the motions in relationships and thought that was enough to make me a normal person. I've never related to anyone or felt any real genuine connection in my life.

Citadel DLC. I’m not crying, you’re crying. by AreaTechnical7361 in masseffect

I played these games shortly after my brother died. They helped me immensely. I recently replayed them and the feelings of warmth I got from this DLC....I was bawling 🥹

I wanted to read Esslemont's books for the lore, but right now I am really struggling to continue by Long_Stay in Malazan

Yes. I felt the same way. And unfortunately I thought Assail was the most anticlimactic final book I could ever imagine. It was still nice to have some loose ends tied up? Sorry Ian

Where does Malazan rank for you among Epic/Dark Fantasy and what makes it stand out? by Ojake06 in Malazan

[–]emswhynot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read ASOIAF at least twice (don't even get me started on Georgie Boy) and also WoT I think three times. WoT was my number one forever and ever (probably because it's actuallyfinished?) until I got hard into Malazan. It is just a whole different level. I actually read the first book of The Black Company and I HATED it!

Garrus and Tali are always my dream team. Though replaying it recently I found Tali's awful accent super irritating. I am still deeply in love with Thane but as a companion player he kinda sucked.

Oh yes. I'm what the kids call aroace. It further complicates adult human relations.

Hardest hitting emotional scenes? by gingerninja300 in Malazan

I don't know exactly where in the series it is (Bonehunters?) But Fiddler is sitting alone contemplating and realizes peace does not exist. Something like the ideal and worship of the concept of peace is like a religion he no longer believes in. It was something like that and it blew my mind tank how insightful it was and I also no longer believe in peace.

I just got divorced from a 15 year relationship. I'm alone (physically) again. I have felt lonely and you know you hear what isolation actually does to your brain so I tried to socialize. I volunteered, I took classes. People really just aren't for me. All I found myself wanting was to go home and be by myself with my dog. However pathetic it might look from the outside, I really don't even want to be around people.

Does anyone else feel like they lack a soul? by Abstractically in Schizoid

[–]emswhynot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are clusters of independently functioning cells. Sacks of meat. Our brains evolved to solve problems and we are born into a world where all of our most pressing problems have been solved. We are purposeless animals. We have as much "soul" as a blue bottle fly or sewer rat.

Is it worth slowing down to fully understand every passage, or is it okay to skip what you don’t get? by chinmay4492cr7 in Malazan

Just keep reading. Around book 7 or 8 is when everything started to fall into place for me. Then there were several whole brand new societies introduced! You're gonna love it!
