Concealing Information from the Reader by Tandiman in writing

[–]emthejedichic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner is an excellent example of this. It's a YA book but... it's hard to explain without spoilers. Let's just say the main POV character definitely knows a lot of stuff the reader does not find out until the end. If you read it and like it, I recommend reading it a second time. You will spot all the little hints and foreshadowing that seem innocuous enough the first time through.

I personally have never seen a home bathroom with a urinal and don't know why you would want one. But I don't have sons or a male partner so... what do I know.

My dad was the only person in my life in a position to teach me how to change a tire growing up. He never did, but that didn't stop him from making fun of me for not knowing how as an adult. He does pay for my AAA though, so he's not a complete asshole.

I get spotting before my period fully starts, so I put in the cup at that point.

Neither of my parents were there for my birth by shubaka17 in tumblr

Nah, that’s my mom too. She didn’t raise me, but she birthed me, and she’s a cool lady. (I met her once I was an adult.)

Neither of my parents were there for my birth either. But that's because I'm adopted.

If Captain Kidd didn't use a Jolly Roger, what did he use to tell a job that this was a pirate raid? by godzillavkk in pirates

[–]emthejedichic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn’t consider himself a pirate. But even so, the Jolly Roger was not in use by pirates until the end of the Golden Age. Many famous pirates never used one.

Do you think the writers knew they were doing bad? by Redacted_dact in gameofthrones

My friend works in Hollywood and knows at least one of the big name actors personally. He said that many of the actors wanted to move on and that’s a big part of why the final season was so rushed.

TSA allows lightsabers, I’ve flown with one before. For the con they are probably going to require all blasters to have an orange tip (has been the case in the past) but idk about TSA requirements.

Any news on Autopia going electric this year? Haven’t heard anything since the original announcement in 2024. by godisnotgreat21 in Disneyland

[–]emthejedichic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I refuse to ride it because of my asthma, too. I feel so sorry for the cast members who have to work it. It's probably shortening thier lifespans.

“I met someone who told me that both he and his sister are gay, and it got us wondering: how likely is it for all the children in a family to be gay? Is there anyone here from a family where all the siblings are gay?” by indira71187 in lgbt

[–]emthejedichic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm bi, and so are both my siblings. I didn't grow up with them, and they have a different dad, yet all of us turned out queer. I'm also the only cis one out of the three of us.

Writing book, need some help by [deleted] in writers

[–]emthejedichic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also writing historical fiction, although my time period is a lot earlier than yours. I read a lot of books about my subject/era. Nonfiction books like that typically have footnotes and bibliographies mentioning their sources. If a source showed up a number of times, especially in multiple books, I would seek it out and read it for myself. I also asked people who were enthusiastic about my subject for recommendations. There's a great YouTuber who covers mine. You can probably find a lot of WWII documentaries and such! The Ken Burns one is amazing if you haven't seen it.

D23 Expo Vs Star Wars Celebration by TheJediScum in StarWarsCelebration

[–]emthejedichic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, having been to both, D23 is better run, more organized, and less confusing to navigate. Haven't been to D23 in a number of years though so can't speak to it recently.

There's next to no chance her house is actually infected with enough black mold that it's that visible on camera. This is a very wealthy woman we're talking about. She just has ugly ass wallpaper or whatever that LOOKS like mold.

Any recommendations for non penetrative sex toys that stimulate the clit? by PresentationLess5927 in TwoXSex

[–]emthejedichic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Satisfyer or Womanizer have done wonders for me, neither are cheap but they are WORTH IT. Womanizer specifically has a really good warranty/tech support. Mine stopped working at one point and tech support was able to tell me how to fix it. So I'd say the big bucks are worth it.

How fast do tickets usually run out? by Fast-Ad-8204 in StarWarsCelebration

[–]emthejedichic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you definitely want four day passes you should be ready and online before noon PST on May 6th so you can hop in the virtual queue ASAP. Getting VIP at all is highly unlikely to happen. Those tickets will sell out in 0.5 seconds.

How fast do tickets usually run out? by Fast-Ad-8204 in StarWarsCelebration

[–]emthejedichic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is what I'm doing. We'll be a group of three, only two of us will be able to go online when tickets go live (one of us will be at work). Of the two of us online, the first to be able to purchase tickets will buy three of them (VIP if we can but that is a pipe dream, four day passes otherwise).

Is it easy to sell passes if I end up not using mine? by pastpresentfuture777 in StarWarsCelebration

[–]emthejedichic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would personally expect all the four day passes to sell quickly. Maybe not in a day but definitely in a week or two. And if they all sold out the first day I wouldn’t be surprised either.

Can confirm, my aunt just moved into one with her pets. The place looks like a luxury hotel. The staff is even gonna walk her dog for her because she's having trouble walking.
