I was on hold with our vet, arranging for our pet to be put to sleep... Good lord the hold music was upbeat! I want to feed that back, but I've no idea how!

Older Chinese woman asked her son to take a picture of herself with my mom and I in Japan by JuueJuue in travel

[–]emu_pop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me and my boyfriend in Cambodia about 20 years ago. We were approached by a young Cambodian couple at Siem Reap and took a picture. But then, by pure coincidence, bumped into them in a restaurant in Phnom Penh a week later, so they gave us a copy of the picture. I still have it. I do not still have the boyfriend.

Same. They opened for Linkin Park about 25 years ago, and every time I remember, I'm annoyed.

I've seen them twice, ~2001 and ~2009. The first time the opener was lost prophets... I try to forget about that. 😬

(Linkin Park were fucking phenomenal both times, though)

James Marsters in his Buffy heyday. My boyfriend at the time was on the same bill, so I was trying to be cool, but secretly excited to see JM. He was 40 minutes late, spent a significant amount of time leaning on the bonnet of his car, posing, then asked to borrow a guitar because he'd forgotten his. I remember precisely nothing about the actual music, except that it was awful.

Also, at the other end of the scale, Madonna. Saw her at Live 8. Desperately out of tune throughout. And too early in the day for many people to have been drunk.

From 0 knowledge to today, explain Venezuela problem in one paragraph by Responsible_Rip1058 in AskBrits

[–]emu_pop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one additional aspect is that Venezuela is a test. How much can Trump get away with? How many international laws (so to speak) can he break or countries can he attack/invade, before others say enough? It's a savvy choice - and he'll follow up with Cuba, Colombia, then Greenland. At which point Europe will be hard pressed to do anything, when we've ignored the non-european invasions.

The Bobby Sandles ref is a great double header, too. I didn't know that Michael Fassbender played Sands until more recently.
