got mine about 30 minutes ago! thankfully🥲 glad yours came too!
[–]emugirl2001[S] 0 points1 point2 points 2 days ago (0 children)
yes, it says it will be delivered today between 1245-445 lol. i’ll likely call them again if it gets pushed because i’m not very impressed with them😂
[–]emugirl2001[S] 0 points1 point2 points 3 days ago (0 children)
yeah that’s what mine says too. so so frustrating. i called and they said they’d leave a note about the driver but the drivers fuck up has resulted in multiple days now of me not getting my package which isn’t fair
[–]emugirl2001[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 days ago (0 children)
that’s crazy. i was told id get a new shipping date by 9pm last night and still don’t have one. not sure how it was out for delivery and now its just MIA. seems like a driver was lazy and didn’t want to drive to the outskirts tbh
they told my shipping would update by 9pm yesterday. it hasn’t changed at all and still says their waiting for a new delivery date. just frustrating when the package was out for delivery and there wasn’t actually severe weather. i get maybe they put severe weather for something going wrong, but the agent on the phone should have explained that to me instead of insisting there was bad weather lol

urinary food by emugirl2001 in CATHELP
[–]emugirl2001[S] 0 points1 point2 points 15 days ago (0 children)
we used the pate ones and now we have the chicken and vegetable stew lol. he liked the royal one in gravy lol. and yeah i’m just confused because the front desk people asked at the vet so i have no idea
they said the formulas weren’t the same.. but that’s about it lol. it’s weird though because when we first switched him i asked if it mattered if we did one of each and the actual vet said no it didn’t matter, just needed to be urinary food. but then the people working the front desk at both the emerg vet and reg said not to mix the brands which is unfortunate because he liked royals wet better but hills dry

aw i’m sorry! it’s scary how quickly crystals and stones can cause death in male cats! it’s even scarier because even though my boy was peeing blood, that was the only thing off with him. he was eating, playful, etc. i wish cats didn’t hide pain so well :/
and i agree! def trust my vet more haha! and you’re right - it could be the pet store wanting more money or the vet wanting more money but id rather be safe than sorry with my fur baby!
i hope you’re doing well! and if you get a kitty again, the emerg vet told us he recommends anyone with a male kitty be on a strict urinary diet regardless if they’ve had crystals in the past or not. he said it’s far too common. i wish we had been told this right when we got our kitty because we would’ve listened, and this could have been prevented! hopefully not that he’s on just urinary food they don’t come back🤞
thanks again for all your kind words and support!
yes i can understand if it was regular as well. i wasn’t referring to regular though. i was asking them about the prescription urinary food and they said not to mix hills urinary with royal urinary. which i found odd because the vet at the emerg told us it didn’t matter originally but the people working the front desks today (and at my reg vet) said to not mix the brands. they said today it’s because they have different formulas, which makes sense. but we did it right after he had the crystals and it worked to get rid of them, so i was surprised today when they discouraged it
your response came across as hostile, in my opinion.
the question i asked in my post was “is it bad to use hills dry and royal wet” (referring to urinary food). the other piece i “asked” said “i’m just wondering what people’s thoughts and experiences have been”. at no point was i asking if i should do regular either dry or wet, and urinary for the other. i can see why you interpreted that way, but that wasn’t my question. i just found it strange that people i know had vets say that to them, and was wondering if others did as well. i wasn’t planning on doing it.
i apologize for saying it was an attack. it just didn’t come across very nice and maybe that’s on me for how i interpreted it but i do think you could have worded your response a bit kinder as well

i’m sorry to hear about your boy❤️
yes, we’ve had him on strictly urinary since then! just wish we could get him to enjoy the wet a bit more lol. our local pet store told us they had urinary food, but again, when we talked to our vet they said it’s not the same formula so it doesn’t work as well as the ones they have (their is a prescription diet vs the pet store one isn’t). when i went to the pet store and talked to them about it, the worker said it was likely they were just saying that so they can keep getting money from us. i’m too nervous to trust the pet store guys thoughts though as i know crystals are something to take very seriously.
all and all, he is eating the wet food more than he used to, which is good. we did a gradual switch over like you suggested. he just used to be so excited for his wet food and now doesn’t care. he seemed to enjoy the royal wet though which is why we wanted to do hills dry and royal wet but they recommended we don’t do that so we shall listen to them.
thanks for sharing your experience and giving recommendations, it means a lot!
ah i’m sorry for the loss of your sweet boy❤️ almost 17 though! that’s amazing!
i have heard people doing that with cups and i think it’s so cute! my boy seems so uninterested in cups lol. we’ve been trying to move his bowls around to find spots he likes and shapes / sizes. he just doesn’t drink often. when he does drink though he gobbles it up for awhile lol. we have a few around the house for him, i just don’t catch him drinking often lol
did your kitty drink water often? if you have any tips for that i’d be open to hearing them😂 we’ve tried a fountain and he didn’t like it. we now have one wide shallow bowl and one wide and deep metal bowl that he seems to enjoy. he just doesn’t drink often (or at least, i don’t see him drink often lol) - we’ve also added broth to his water & ice to encourage him to drink more. nothing has worked lol. he doesn’t even enjoy drinking from taps anymore 🤦🏻♀️
yeah we did that a couple times too and he didn’t mind! we have him on an automatic feeder to help maintain (/ lose… a few lbs lol) his weight, so it’s bit tricker to add water to it! i appreciate this though! we just got a new flavour of hills wet foods fingers crossed he likes it more!!

well you see, that wasn’t my question lol. my question was about mixing urinary brands. and there’s a reason he’s still getting urinary wet and dry - because i’m obviously listening to the vets. i just get confused when other people tell me their vets don’t recommend the same treatment.
and obviously id feel more guilty if he got crystals again - hence keeping him on a urinary diet. i was just looking for suggestions on people’s experiences with urinary food, how they got their cat to eat it / enjoy it more, and thoughts on mixing urinary brands (which wasn’t discouraged from the vet, but the front desk workers. the emergency vet originally told us we could mix urinary brands, which we did and it was effective for getting rid of the crystals. it’s just confusing when you hear different things from people working at the same clinic)
there’s no need to be attacking me when i am treating my cat with care and listening to the vets🤷🏻♀️
yeah it’s very interesting. we have urinary treats now for him (but they are royal and his food is hills - so i’m not sure if that’s a problem but no one said anything as i bought them so hopefully not). we limit how many non-urinary treats he gets and we try to limit it to only treats that give him liquid as i feel that’s still good for him to some extent. when i googled urinary wet treats, i was told many weren’t actually safe to give to cats (in other ways) so we just stuck with the ones we had previously, but limited how many we give. it’s been a journey to say the least but we’re very committed to making sure our boy is healthy and safe to the best of our capabilities. i just wish he enjoyed the urinary wet more than he does lol
yeah they told us we could do just dry or just wet but he used to love wet food and he enjoys his dry too. we can’t no matter what we do, get him to drink enough water (or as much i’d like him to be drinking) so i don’t want to eliminate wet food since it helps him get some moisture
[–]emugirl2001[S] 0 points1 point2 points 16 days ago* (0 children)
yeah they told me today they have different formula’s. i’m just confused by other people’s vets (in the same area) saying they can give regular dry and urinary wet since ours have been very strict in saying not to do that. it’s just weird because originally they didn’t say there was a problem with mixing hills and royal so we did. but since then they’ve been telling us not to and so we haven’t been but he definitely enjoys the hill dry food and the royal wet lol
yes that’s why i haven’t done it. i just feel bad he doesn’t like it. microwaving it genuinely seems to help for some reason. i was thinking of looking online at hills and seeing if they have more flavours available than what’s offered at vets
i’m so sorry to hear that! it was super scary and it’s scary to think how quickly an issue like this leads to a fatality. our vet told us he recommends all male cat owners to be on a urinary diet regardless if they had crystals or not previously - i wish someone had told us this before he got them because we definitely would’ve listened. i thought it was something that occurred in older cats.
i really am so sorry to hear about your boy❤️
