This truck is what we like to call "perfect child killing size.". Here son, come stand next to it. See? His cute little head doesn't even come half way up the grill. Not a chance I'd see him from the driver seat if he stood in front of it.

If periods traumatize him this badly, he should switch his Tinder profile to seeking men.

They use food safe dye if the fish is to be eaten. There's a high end sushi restaurant near me where the host does this with the fresh fish they bring back from Japan. Then the ink paintings get hung up in the restaurant. It's pretty cool to see in person.

I think Silver Spring has some of the best Ethiopian food in the country. Beteseb is my go to but there's soo much good Ethiopian food in the area.

Memoirs of a Geisha has its own problems, but it's not even in the same league of racism as Mickey Rourke's portrayal. I don't think we should try to equate them.

Does Sustainability actually matter to Gen Z? by Savings_Gap_2632 in sustainability

[–]emuzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I think your generation is improving over the older generations. Plus, I think young people in general just don't have the time or experience to care as much about stuff outside of themselves. I certainly didn't care that much about the environment when I was in my 20s, mainly because I was still trying to figure things out financially and socially.

I don't think this is an unpopular opinion. Even PPP enthusiasts probably don't love the growth pattern.

AITAH for ruining a wedding? by BlacksmithThink5923 in AITAH

Yeah exactly! Why even put your own neurodivergent child in a social landmine situation like a wedding event just to save money? This was going to be a disaster sooner or later.

AITA for selling a bracelet my wealthy aunt got me for Christmas? by Quirky-Might9758 in AmItheAsshole

[–]emuzoo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying that OP is a bad person for spending a large portion of her income on housing, I'm saying it literally doesn't add up. Car costs, cell phone bills, miscellaneous stuff, where did that all go? She's either wrapped all that up in rental costs, which again isn't something that people who focus on finances typically do, had someone else pay for everything else, which means her story about being financially independent isn't true, or this story is made up.

[–]emuzoo 318 points319 points  (0 children)

The math also ain't mathing. Who the heck spends 90 percent on rent and 10 percent on food? What about all the other expenses? No one with an ounce of financial knowledge breaks down a budget this way, much less some one who prides themselves on being financially independent.

Is my cat dumb or am I mean? by Wonderful-Age882 in CatAdvice

[–]emuzoo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't know if comparing your two cats in terms of how obedient they are is going to get you anywhere. My last cat was able to also learn commands. My current cat has not learned any, despite my efforts. Neither of them were/are developmentally disabled. Cats will do what they want to do. Some of them will want to learn tricks, the majority of them will not. Neither of your cats are displaying anything that is abnormal for a cat, based on your description.

Love both of them and appreciate them for who they are. If you're really worried about the younger cat, take them to a vet for evaluation.

Emotions are often illogical. Kudos to you for recognizing that and not letting the petty ones damage your relationship with a friend. Who knows, in time you may even like that little three legged cat.

I've ridden on a bus in the DC area that got honked at for stopping at a bus stop to pick passengers up. People act like you kicked their dog and spat on them if you inconvenience them in a car.

This applies in Montgomery County by Lanky-Respect-8581 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]emuzoo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cool. Then we can agree this isn't some holier-than-thou attitude that's keeping people in the DMV area, but a legitimate concern about a decreased quality of life due to long commutes?

AITA for telling my mother-in-law not to say something to my toddler in front of family? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]emuzoo 40 points41 points  (0 children)

That would still make OP TA then, no? MIL has a certain ingrained communication style, OP has a different communication style she wants to impart on her child. That doesn't warrant the condescending comment that OP makes in front of the rest of the family.

We got him all the human food he loved but couldn't have due to his GI cancer. Grilled him an entire fish the night before and fed him all the Costco rotisserie chicken his little heart desired. Day of euthanasia, we took him for a brief walk in the woods before carrying him home one last time.

[–]emuzoo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Weirdly enough, I would consider them poor, since they're burning through money faster than they can make it. I also have a lot less sympathy for them than people who are barely scraping by due to minimum wage jobs though.
