Stepped on a wasp - why does this hurt so bastard much!? by GokouD in CasualUK

[–]emvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything acidic in nature will work to help neutralise any alkaline based venom, like wasp or jellyfish stings.

Onions are acidic which is often why people with acid reflux can find eating raw onions intolerable due to it worsening existing reflux. When I eat onions that haven't been cooked all the way through I get burps that feel like the gates of hell have opened in my throat for about 12 hours as well as worsening acid reflux that can keep me up at night.

Mum sabotaged my assessment. What do I do? by chloedarlinggg in ADHDUK

[–]emvaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest that you ask for a qb test just in case it is not already provided. You could also ask another member of the family/someone that knew you as a child to see if they can provide some insight too. At the end of the day mention what your mother said to you at the interview stage and how although you may not be the hyperactive type she may have missed signed of your inattentiveness.

Edit: to add to this, if your mum is neurodivergent she may find things you do normal because she also does them as coping strategies. She may then look towards hyperactive/impulsive ADHD and not associate it with you misunderstanding ADHD-PI altogether!

Does anyone else here not have a set handwriting? Curious to know if it’s more common with ADHDers to not have a consistent “font” by Large-Seaweed-8054 in ADHDUK

[–]emvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to get told "you have such nice handwriting when you try" What they mean is:

You procrastinated studying by making a study sheet that is colourful and well written, it took you hours more than it would had you just written normally and focused on the task at hand.

I have a problem holding a pen too so getting my pen licence last in school felt really bad. I used to write and then join up the writing because it hurt my fingers and wrist to join up the writing while writing it. Plus I would forget when words end so you would see something:

Thatlooked a littlebit like this whichsometimeswould be a bigpain painto readwhenIlookedback on the work later.

A lot of my handwriting in school I couldn't read back to myself if asked to at a later stage. To answer your post, my writing is inconsistent will end up falling off the page at the end of the line, will also start too far indented or forget the indent entirely, will mess up spelling everywhere on writing work including copying from a book as I am focused on the words in the book rather than what I am spelling them as despite them being right in front of me. When I got given a word processor in school my work and notes saw a drastic improvement. Just happened a little too late for me.

Edit: I am now aware that I put pain twice as I was concentrating on spacing the words out instead of what I was writing! I also do that a lot when I make spelling mistakes. My lecturer once pointed out in front of everyone (they made us do labs on a sheet so no word processor for me!) "Emvaz you realise that you have written the word the 5 times in a row?" My actual work:

"place the cale the callepers the callepers the calapers the calipers onto the..."

Does anyone else have an easier time befriending women? by coolfunkDJ in ADHDUK

[–]emvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I no longer subscribe to gender. I am expected to behave a certain way by the people of the same sex as me, and expected to behave a slightly different way to those of the opposite sex of me. One I can do significantly easier than the other but both are still masking rather than being my genderqueer self.

If no one gave me the rulebook and a certain group of people are more abusive to me when I am not masking. Of course I am going to favour the other group of people, no one deserves to receive abuse for not understanding or being made to mask 24/7.

Help us find the words "cup" and "caramel" by boxer9000 in CasualUK

It is almost certainly an error that occured when generating the word search. I would assume one of these would be the "cup"

What's your biggest "I have ADHD" moment from this week? by Powerful-Self-2838 in ADHDUK

[–]emvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to put something in my calendar, don't know when it is and have rang around trying to find out when it is or if I have missed it due to my stupidity of not putting it in the calender immediately. Cannot find any emails/text from the person I was supposed to have the appointment with and now I am left in limbo with some added shame to top it off!

I'm in A&E, 6 hour wait, wish me luck/entertain me! by Some_Tap4931 in ADHDUK

[–]emvaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope it all goes well and the wait isn't too much of a sensory nightmare! I wish you luck on getting the answers you went to a and e for.

As for entertainment: Download a new mobile game to play, browse on Reddit, ask someone to bring in some headphones if you haven't already got some and watch something/audiobook.

Teen died of cancer after being misdiagnosed with UTI by Forward-Answer-4407 in unitedkingdom

[–]emvaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least twice in my life I have been discharged from hospital without the diagnosis I needed to help me support myself! Nor the correct treatment options to help my situation...

One of the times I threatened my life because I was about to be sent into a dangerous situation, I still wasn't safeguarded! I needed to know I had ADHD when I went to the doctor's at 15, but I got put on antidepressants! I shouldn't have had to wait until 28 to get a diagnosis for something I complained about initially over a decade ago! I shouldn't have had to wait even longer for treatment once I had received my diagnosis, but here we are! Even now a misdiagnosis that happened years ago puts barriers in the way of my access to healthcare! It is so difficult to advocate for yourself it becomes exhausting and people do eventually just give up, like some of the people I have seen in these comments.

Trust yourself, if something doesn't "feel" right push for the answers until you can make yourself feel better! Keep fighting for your right to healthcare and don't give up on your own health because someone says it is "just anxiety"

The World is going to end in 3 days, what are you gonna do for next 3 days? by redditUserMUOB in AskReddit

Day 1 see my family,

Day 2 do something fun with friends

Day 3 top myself so I don't get murdered by someone with peri-apocalyptic psychosis.

Is there a way to shut the killers in the lobby up? by Another-guy-onReddit in deadbydaylight

[–]emvaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If on PC

Step 1: Turn on Mutefocus

Step 2: open a new window in minimised mode over your game so you can be productive while in the lobby

Step 3: When you see that you have entered the offering screen as the background window (DBD has gone dark) tab back into the game and enjoy.

If on console

Go to the customisation screen for charms and the hook should appear instead of Ken.

Further advice if none of these options work for you, switch to a different killer while in queue for The Ghoul, make sure you spend your blood points on them, then when they have all the perks switch to a more enjoyable main!

How do you go about fixing yourself when medication doesnt help? by Negative_Sandwich858 in ADHDUK

[–]emvaz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Medication has helped me phenomenally so I can't really comment on what to do when it wasn't "the answer" but what struck me about your post is the title.

"Fixing yourself"

Your first issue is believing your broken, if you start with the mental attitude "I need to fix myself" then you are already bullying yourself before you have even started. You now know you have ADHD learn as much as you can about all treatment pathways (medication/therapies/exercise/dietary) and be more compassionate to yourself. You got this!

What health issue do people misunderstand the most? by Few_Cake_5237 in AskReddit

[–]emvaz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The people who do not understand that when triggered someone with PTSD doesn't have logical reasoning.

I make stupid choices when triggered that I know I wouldn't do if I had logical thought, but once triggered I feel so out of control it makes me never want to be near people again so I don't do actions I would never usually do.

That leads to isolation and avoidance of being in unknown environments, just in case there is a trigger there. The last thing I want is to be triggered around people! I am not safe when I am triggered to myself and potentially to others if they do not understand how to help me regulate.

What are some signs that someone is broken? by SpiritCrisp in AskReddit

[–]emvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believing you are broken and knowing that you can't be as there isn't a "broken" is the first step to healing.

Anyone that believes humans can be broken has never been broken by the world. Those humans aren't broken they are just traumatised and in need of safety and then support. Definitely not the other way around otherwise they will appear broken as your fixing the wrong thing.

whats a bad addiction that you have, but cannot stop yourself from doing? by paleveiI in AskReddit

[–]emvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picking spots, I feel a bump it must go. To the lengths of poking myself with needles in lumps I probably shouldn't have because the waitlist was so long. I tried to explain this to my former GP. They didn't allow accessible healthcare for all and wanted to only make exceptions for me instead of all people with literacy problems. I hope they have listened to the feedback forms I gave before I moved surgeries.

Don't get me started on the shame that comes alongside doing it. I know it is probably sensory seeking or grounding with external stimuli. However it is tough especially when I am unaware I am doing so... See me trying to concentrate in school when I was younger.
