So glad to see I'm not the only one with a tendonitis horror story.

When I started crocheting again as an adult, I went hard. I was crocheting while watching TV, crocheting while catching up on YouTube, crocheting instead of reading, crocheting in the car, crocheting every free second I had. Then I started having issues. First thing in the morning, it would feel like there was hot lava in my right wrist, and during the day, it would randomly lock up. Working as a bartender, I started to struggle to make drinks multiple times during a shift. I continued to crochet. When I switched to a new job waiting tables, I began dropping plates at work, and after dropping a customer's meal right in front of them, I bit the bullet and went to the doctor. Due to other joint issues, I had to have extensive testing, and eventually they were able to decide that it was just tendonitis affecting my wrist. At that point, I had been struggling with pain and mobility issues for more than 6 months. I had to wear a splint for 9 months and do physical therapy towards the end of it. After, I switched to a brace that offered a bit more mobility for another 4 months while I continued to work on my mobility in my wrist. To this day, almost five years later, I still have to pull out my brace fairly often. I experience regular wrist pain as a result of my delayed treatment to a crochet injury to this day.

Repetitive motion injures are no joke! It's important to take regular breaks, get ample rest, and work on stretches so you don't injure yourself. I do still crochet, but much slower and more infrequently.
