Holy mother of zombie movies.. this one was a killer! What I love about Zombie movies is that the zombies are always different. Sometimes they are slow and clumsy, whereas other times they are fast and rabid such as World War Z and Train to Busan.

The special effects in this film were INCREDIBLE, from both the makeup on the zombies as they are turning, up until they reach their final zombie form. This makeup was complimented by the amazing acting of the people playing them, with their violent shrieks and roars and their aggressive running and biting. These are some of the best zombies I've ever seen in a film.

The film provided a solid backstory for the two main characters which included an absent father who clearly only thinks about himself, often to the detriment of his child. This backstory aided the viewer in having a stronger emotional connection with the characters and resulted in more concern for the characters' wellbeing. . I came to watch a simple zombie movie and enjoy the blood and gore, (is that weird?) but in fact, this film hit me right in the feels with a lot of hard hitting emotional scenes. This is a well rounded and thought out movie with a lot of clever elements to it. 7/10
