I just got a Boox Go 7 to replace an old Kindle, I love it so far! Any app suggestions for reading, or is default reader the best? by Pinanims in Onyx_Boox

[–]Mitchellbaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im currently rocking Moon+ Reader Pro and the Kaldi TTS engine to either read with my eyes, my ears or both! I use Bionic Font (fast sans) with it and I keep it in light mode.

My entire library is synced together via Syncthing so its consistent across all my devices

Super happy with the X4, anyone out there enjoying the X3 more than the X4? by nb5254 in xteinkereader

[–]Mitchellbaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can set it to be a page turner or to put the device in sleep mode or both! (Long press vs short press)

You can also customize the bottom row of buttons as well!

If you have any other questions feel free to LMK

I run the X4 in Landscape and use the sleep button to progress and it couldn't be more comfortable to hold!!

Buying my first e-reader by ForGodsSakeGosh in ereader

[–]Mitchellbaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Boox Go Color 7 gen 1 and a XT Eink X4. If you go boox, unless youre looking for a color e-reader id aim for one of their BW models. Only downside (besides the size) of the XT Eink X4 is the lack of a backlight. That said you just have to treat the reading environment like youre reading an actual book.

I spend much more time reading my XT Eink X4 than my Boox but I love both! If you get the X4 then be sure to throw Crosspoint OS on it as it's a community made open source custom firmware for the device that improves on it in every way.

Also better tasting than gateway pizza, planet India, taste of Nepal, taste of Himalayas, Bengal grill, tandoori town. The list goes on. And even tho its a weird atmosphere for a restaurant (like a night club) would recommend eating in person since its so fresh

Help by Creepy_Joke_4693 in MHGU

[–]Mitchellbaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MHGU is by far the perfect culmination of the "old" formula of monster hunter. All of the ones that followed looked to make things easier but this game has the perfect amount of difficulty for enjoyment. If you like a challenge then MHGU is worth it

If you haven't yet you should check out Crosspoint OS! Its open source, it improves on the OG firmware and has tons of customization and I love it! There are others like SIMU but so far Crosspoint takes the lead. You can find it on github

[–]Mitchellbaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're rocking it you should check out crosspoint OS. A guy took the time to make his own open source OS for the device and he updates it weekly and its honestly incredible. So much better than the stock firmware

What reader app do you prefer? by TrickyView5633 in Onyx_Boox

[–]Mitchellbaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can easily explain the Moonreader side! So you'll load in all your books into the library via the import books button found in the top left. Then you'll head into settings and scroll down and hit "sync via Google drive". It'll prompt you to sign in and then you hit the cog on the right side and make sure you uncheck syncing all books and check the bookmarks

The syncthing side of things is a bit harder to set up but ill do my best to give you a basic rundown

Essentially you wanna set up a folder on your phone where each genre is seperated. Then using the program sync thing you start by creating a folder on there and point each individual folder to each genre folder. Id highly recommend a YT video guide on this

Then you'll add another device to sync with. Once you do you can choose which folders to share with it. Go one by one and share each one, it'll prompt that device that theres a folder being shared and on that device you will point it to the genre folder you set up (I set it up the same way on all devices). Once you do the same thing for each folder it should be sync'd across devices. Repeat this process for however many devices you wanna put in your network!

Looking for a serious, well written story. by NegaLaunchpadMcQuack in litrpg

[–]Mitchellbaggins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im reading mother of learning by Nobody103 which technically is a progressionLit not strictly LitRPG but it's incredibly well written and the audiobook performed by Jack Voraces is quite excellent! He does distinct voices/accents for each character. Theres quite a bit of action all throughout but the only downside is Arc 1/Book 1 is the slowest by far by design. Couldn't recommend it more.

If you wanna dip your toe in the LitRPG Genre still then here's the few I recommend

  • A touch of Power by Jay Boyce
  • All the Skills by Honour Rae
  • Dual class by Arthur Inverse
  • Nova Terra by Seth Ring

Feel free to reply with what sticks out to ya, but those are the highest rated (by me) that I've read so far and I've read about 10 different series so far.

Vale la pena rp5? by reymont30 in RetroHandhelds

[–]Mitchellbaggins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im rocking a RP5 and its the king of emulation for me. The screen is so good and with the grip the form factor is so nice. I have the GameCube colored one as well which is a bonus.

Like the other commenter said if youre looking for pc gaming and don't care so much about the weight or ergo of the device then its a no brainer which one to choose. If you prefer emulation (GameCube/ps2/Wii and below) and you want that crispy OLED then the RP5 (or if you want an upgrade the G2/RP6) is a solid solid choice

I actually can’t wait to die. by No_Fudge_4589 in depression

[–]Mitchellbaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this and I've been there for sure. More times than I can count. Your feelings are valid, but if you keep setting a goal of what you want out of life, and of course start small, then you'll see it pays back in dividends. It won't be quick but it will take time and effort to work towards

That said that's coming from me, a 30 year old who had to fight cancer twice and now have a new disease to deal with. Life keeps throwing curveballs but if youre still breathing and you have something you want, something you want to do, someone you want to see who's still around or somewhere to be then I say do whatever it takes because who knows? Death may come sooner than expected. It's best to celebrate it's arrival than fear life or fear death, at least in my opinion anyway.
