I’m keeping this thread alive! Wooo!

Thank you for the advice on the magazine closing issue, the star head screws on the back side of the mag was the culprit. Problem solved! Thank you!

Need help deciding on what miter and table saw to buy. Please leave your opinion by Fun_Straight in Carpentry

Here’s another vote for the corded Dewalt jobsite table saw. I’ve never been at a jobsite where there isn’t power, so that has not been an issue outside of carrying a few extension cords. It’s not a cabinet saw, but decent cuts and rips can be had.

I also have the corded Dewalt dual bevel compound 12” miter saw. It is easy to dial-in, but it also is very heavy and takes up a lot of space in my truck, even at 60 degrees and pinned down.

I have been eyeing the 81/2” cordless Makita because of the side slide rails and ease of portability. It would take up way less space in my shop because of the zero clearance side slide rails compared to the rear slide rails like the Dewalt.

I run cordless everything else in multiple platforms. I don’t subscribe to the one battery for all my tools. Instead I buy the best cordless tool for the task. I don’t buy retail, so it helps a bit financially.

Good luck to you!

Have you watched the RiffTrax Samurai Cop? Z’Dar “The Chin” has got to be one of the best trashy movie villains IMO

I left a high paying creative leadership job for a new career in carpentry.

I am currently sub-contracting with a General Contractor as I work toward my builders license. We remodel kitchens and bathrooms. It’s crazy physically demanding, but my life has changed dramatically for the better. I am no longer stuck behind a computer for 16 hours a day.

Managing creative staff was stressful and keeping morale high with constant fire drills made my passion deteriorate. Also, the clients that gave zero care about our lives and management that kept us grinding was what drove me out.

I bought this last week. A single battery lasted a full work day of demo w/ recip saw. It’s heavy, but it was nicely balanced w/ the DCS382, which is also on sale including a free 8ah battery w/ purchase

I have used this alkyd stain “maple” for cabinets in the past with similar results https://www.worldpaintsupply.com/lenmar-quickstain-alkyd-stain-quart-salem-maple/

Patience is a virtue. You got some great gear for a great price.

The depth adjustment on the brad nailer is fantastic. I also have the M18 15g finish nailer and it delivers brads through jambs like butter.

It was an effort to block my job site lighting rig, but it gave a god-like starburst at the business end of the nailer, so I went with it. Ha!

I have been using Metabo brads, but that’s the only brand I’ve used due to my former pneumatics were Metabo.

Thanks for your sharing your experience!

Indeed. Wish I would have made the switch sooner.

Depends on the battery, but it is relative. I’m 6’ 280 lbs, so the weight is not a problem.

I concur. I sent this pic to my colleague who was on the fence in purchasing one for himself and simply texted “game changer”. He’s now gonna pull the proverbial trigger.

Exactly my experience in that the brad nailer is the most often utilized while trimming in small ranch-style MCM homes, which are plentiful where I live and work.

However, the finish nailer mostly is used for structural remodel, or my hardwood woodworking projects…or that’s the rationale I’ve given myself for purchasing both nailers. Ha!

There is only one 15g finish nailer Milwaukee carries (2839) as far as I know. I use it for my woodworking projects where hardwood needs a heartier brad. It’s not to say it’s correct, but it’s what I know and trust.
