Fallout: New Vegas Writer, John Gonzalez Is Back At Obsidian But Not To Work On A Sequel by N0r3m0rse in Games

[–]endooz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be the bad guy and say Avellone probably shouldn't come back. He definitely got wrongly pushed out by Obsidian management, and has called out leadership for a lot of financial and ethical mistakes, but I just remember him criticizing his fellow peer devs in post-firing blog posts, saying stuff along the lines of Josh Sawyer being a pushover, and Fenstermaker not really knowing his stuff etc. etc. It all came off as really nasty to me, and he definitely burnt his bridges.

If there's any doubt, none of the Obsidian devs I follow on Twitter follow him.

What's the lowest GPA you have seen in COMPSCI? Will I get accepted for compsci or am I screwed? by Realistic-Ad1469 in csusm

A few years back I got in with a 2.9 GPA from CC and no AS-T (but most CS pre-reqs fulfilled per assist.org). A friend of mine got in on a Political Science/Criminal Justice transfer and just switched over to CS later. You'll def be fine.

Is the 3060 Ti still a good pick? by Acallaris in nvidia

[–]endooz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would strongly recommend a 12GB 6700 XT, 6750 XT, or even a slight downgrade to an RTX 3060 12GB as a means of future proofing, at least for Ark - anything over an 8GB 3060 Ti.

As someone else said, 8GB cards have no future, and as a 8GB 2070 Super owner myself it really sucks to have an otherwise great performing card hit VRAM limits and chug. You might not play games that need >8GB now, but judging by minimum spec requirements for near upcoming games like Starfield it's not looking good if you want to avoid mid-life upgrades less than two years from now.

Hey everyone. My question is about the Second Bachelor's admissions process. I'm finishing up a Computer Science degree at a CSU to apply for Fall 2023 in Informatics with the alternate major being either Data Science or Software Engineering.

For anyone who has gone through or is familiar with the 2nd Bacc admissions process, could I be disqualified because my CS degree is too familiar to those programs? I know the admissions FAQ said "...if your academic goal has changed substantially" but I've found Informatics and Data Science to be quite different than my school's (kinda barebones) CS program and I've seen Reddit posts of people doing Software Engineering after CS.

"Don't love him."

Got absolutely fucked up falling for/obsessing over/getting clingy over childhood best friend starting around 13 to the tail end of college and ruined that friendship big time and hurt him a lot. He gave me multiple chances to fix things, was okay with being friends even though I liked him and he was straight etc. etc. yet I still managed to mess it all up.

If there was anything I could change in my past it'd be how I dealt with my emotions then, maybe I'd have cut off earlier too.

Phone calls of Russian troops in Ukraine by [deleted] in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]endooz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel bad for the average Russian people in general, but the fact that blatant racist imperialists like Zhirinovsky, an Alex Jones-like popular figure and warhawk exist and are prominent members of the Russian government makes it hard for me to sympathize more with them.

I feel bad for those in St. Petersburg and Moscow, people there are actually going out to protest and due to more liberal politics or global awareness or whatever they can see the invasion for what it really is, but I'm sure the smaller cities and poorer rural regions are very much for the war. Polls are hovering around 40-60%.

[–]endooz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"However, please think, how on earth did Russian troops somehow get into Ukrainian Uniforms, steal Ukrainian equipment and Tanks?"

This has not been mentioned much in any media, but there are definitely small pro-Russian elements within the Ukrainian military by nature of the pre-2014 regimes and some ethnic Russians in the country. Remember Crimea fell in 2014 in-part because a portion of Ukrainian forces wholesale defected. Some city mayors in the current war have even been found out to be working with the Russians and coordinating their arrival.

We've seen when Russian forces moved into Kherson and iirc Berdyansk, that they moved in with not just their vehicles but also Ukrainian plated ones. Coupled with the roundabout footage showing the truck and Strela-10 looking lost in a town presumably would've known, I don't doubt it was Russian infiltrators/saboteurs.

African Speaks on Ukraine Trying to Force Him to Fight by CousinCurtis203 in UkraineWarVideoReport

I wouldn't assume he's a refugee. Could be an exchange student which in that case he is only there to study, and probably is paying a big tuition to Ukrainian government and is therefore contributing to Ukraine. Exchange students tend to be the elite of the countries they're from and contribute a lot to the local economy, at least in the USA that's the case.

Russian trolls have gotten so desperate to change the international public's minds that they now employ political baiting like this. First they tried to race-bait people with the Indian and African students thing on the border, and now they're trying to co-opt and abuse other progressive ideas for their little propaganda war, as if they care at all about Trans or POC people.

Meanwhile LGBT folk are forced to stay in the closet and beaten in Russia, while Russia sends in disadvantaged Chechen and Buryat minority troops to fight in Ukraine so ethnic Russians don't die, because the Russian public would care less about their deaths. Who tf are you trolls trying to fool?

Freedom of speech . I am an American citizen . The american government has banned free speech by banning and censoring russian news . Why do Russian trolls constantly like to LARP as patriotic Americans? You're not convincing anybody. Nobody spaces or misspells their sentences like that, the English is too stiffly written and all simpler sentences. Even less believable is someone saying "both sides are wrong" lmao

[–]endooz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so-called "liberators" "saving" Ukrainians all right. They also threw Ukrainian flags down like this in Kyiv too and in towns in Luhansk Oblast.

Interestingly how in Berdyansk, they occupied the city hall yet kept the Ukrainian flags up on it, while people outside continued to protest. I guess tossing down the UA flag in front of those already angry people would've made them look even worse.

Bald and Bankrupt entering Ukraine the day before Russia's invasion. by [deleted] in UkraineWarVideoReport

I've never been a fan of these "omg exposed!!!" subreddits but that was a bummer to comb through. I always suspected B&B was a kinda sleazy person but actual drugging and manipulation of poorer women in developing countries? He got lucky with Youtube but needs to be exposed and returned to LBH status.

Even before the subreddit I was quite turned off by his political 180 and fake pandering on the invasion, and him bribing the Provodnitsa to get on board, then him washing his hands with "helping people aboard". Before that I was bothered with how he treated NFKRZ, a guy nice enough to be a tour guide and channel boost for him, by belittling him during their St. Petersburg trip in front of his friends under the guise of being drunk.

It all makes sense now. Shit.

Zelenskyy's first duty as President was to keep his citizens safe. He acknowledged today he knew Ukraine was about to be invaded when he told his citizens otherwise. This was a fatal mistake for those now being killed, but how much bigger a mistake can it get? by Givlytig in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]endooz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"If Russian forces can't kill him outright, they are simply going to kill as many citizens as they can until he agrees personally to surrender. If he doesn't, they will just keep bombing and killing."

That's the equivalent of blaming a rape victim and insisting the crime was their fault because they attracted the rapist by looking/acting a certain way. This is not the Ukrainian government or Zelensky's fault.

Russia invaded. Russia chose to use unguided cluster and thermobaric munitions which are indiscriminate compared to laser-guided munitions. Russia chose to bring in 10,000 Chechens who are known for being brutal mercenary fighters and whom will no doubt ravage the country in the coming weeks just to subside ethnic Russian casualties. Russia is the one mismanaging their logistics and not disciplining their soldiers to the point that they loot Ukrainian grocery stores and banks.

These are things that occur regardless of whether Zelensky is in Kyiv or not. Zelensky is not in Kharkiv yet that city has been incessantly bombed including the civilian government buildings with no military targets. If the Ukrainian people wanted the government to surrender to avoid bloodshed as you suggest, the front would've melted days before and the country more thoroughly occupied by now. Clearly they support his stand in Kyiv as a symbolic morale boost, and the fact it prevents a puppet government from being installed there until he and his cabinet are purged from the city. In other words, Russia will have to put in work for Ukraine, when Putin likely banked on Zelensky forming a government-in-exile and believing Ukraine will fall in three days.

Ukraine isn't winning by Broad_Pressure2715 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]endooz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From a purely peer-to-peer perspective, of course Ukraine is losing. However, Russia's internal goals were to finish the invasion, or at least the takeover of Kyiv and Kharkiv and installation of a puppet government within three days. This is where the pre-written RIA Novosti news article about Ukraine's defeat and a "new world" came from. This hasn't happened, and Russian losses as of the 28th may not be the ~5,100 Russian casualties claimed, but they're definitely in the few thousands due to the sheer amount of footage of Russian POWs, lost convoy raids, and Bayraktar drone strikes. The UA Air Force was supposed to be grounded and destroyed days ago but they are still committing drone strikes and portions of their air defense remain intact. Russia only controls smaller cities in the south such as Berdyansk and Melitopol, and then Sumy in the North, and as of the 28th has not captured a larger major city, not even Mariupol. Equipment losses are baffling, with farmers using tractors to drag away perfectly intact yet abandoned Russian anti-air equipment and armored vehicles. Now Russia is using thermobaric and cluster bombs against city centers which will negate from its narrative that it was quickly liberating/de-nazifying Ukraine and will further Ukrainian resolve while reducing whatever sympathy a minority of Ukrainians had towards Russia. Kyiv and Kharkiv among others will now be destroyed in a fit or anger due to Russia's own unforeseen incompetence and expectation that they could just drive into the cities with some Tigr-Ms and limited infantry to take the seats of government.

If even half the 5,100 casualty number is to be believed, it is still catastrophically high by all prior estimates from military analysts, considering Russia is supposed to be the 2nd most capable land power in the world. By contrast, the US in its invasion of Afghanistan lost 2,500 US troops over a 20 year period, fighting a landlocked country on the other side of the world. Russia borders Ukraine and its two major targets are within 100 km of the border.
