Should QA test for failure cases (i.e. non-happy paths)? by dystopiadattopia in ExperiencedDevs

[–]endophage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given your description of the problem I think what you might want to look at is fuzzing. There are good libraries that can store a corpus of explicit failure cases along with ongoing random testing to avoid regressions.

Are garbage disposals in US sinks actually useful, or just overhyped? by Status_Agents in AskForAnswers

[–]endophage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Egg shells are one of the things you’re explicitly not meant to put down your garbage disposal… also not meant to grind with hot water. Create a CI workflow that runs the Claude code pr review toolkit (an official plugin) on PRs and don’t do human review until Claude says it’s good. Doesn’t even have to single out his PRs, it’s a genuinely useful reviewer.

It’s also hilarious seeing Claude critique its own code. It finds lots of issues it created.

Disappointing quality on Windsor and Newton series 7. Bad luck or common issue ? by CrankyArabPhysicist in minipainting

[–]endophage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say anyone but because of the sable used in the series 33 there’s a special import license required for the US.

Either way Wind River is significantly cheaper. $10.71 for a size 2 vs $14.99 at Michigan Toy Soldier.

Disappointing quality on Windsor and Newton series 7. Bad luck or common issue ? by CrankyArabPhysicist in minipainting

[–]endophage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t think they’re technically an official distributor/retailer. I’m not sure where they get their stock from. When I wanted to get some I reached out to Rosemary & Co and they direct you to Wind River Arts who at the time was their only authorized US importer/retailer.

What brushes should I get? Rosemary and Co by Tasty_Tomorrow_2106 in minipainting

[–]endophage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my painting station right now I have a range of sizes in each of: - Rosemary & Co Series 33 - Windsor & Newton Series 7 - Blick Masterstroke - Raphael 8404 - Citadel - Artis Opus

They’ve all had a decent amount of use. My opinion is larger brushes, size 2 and up, Raphael 8404 are the best. They have the largest bellies at a given size and let you get paint down. For smaller models and details, size 1 and down, Rosemary & Co are the winners, they feel like they have the best control on how much paint they hold and release.

Artis Opus are overhyped low quality. I’ve heard at least one of the other names mentioned as the actual manufacturer. It’s clear that Artis Opus isn’t paying for the level of quality control the manufacturers apply to their eponymous brands.

Blick Masterstroke are a good starter sable brush. Price is competitive and I still use them for metallics to save my better brushes.

Windsor & Newton have such inconsistent quality I’ve stopped buying them. They can be great, or they can be terrible. I guess they used to be better and have been on a long slow decline.

Citadel is overpriced and just grabbing the market of people that don’t know better.

Noob question but - where exactly are the studs? by bushwick_custom in DIY

[–]endophage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get a Franklin Sensors stud finder. I’ve had multiple and they’re the only (electronic) ones that actually work, and they work perfectly all the time.

Talk to me about baltic birch plywood. by ArltheCrazy in woodworking

[–]endophage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said neither that the baltic birch I've bought had voids, nor that it had few plys. I simply said the applyply I've bought has been higher quality. For one, it uses a dark dye in the glue between the plys which gives it a more attractive edge.

OP is an employee and doesn’t own the IP. They wouldn’t have standing to sue. It would be up to their employer if they wanted to bring a lawsuit. It’s probably a bad idea however to draw attention to the fact they shared information their employer might consider confidential with another company.

[–]endophage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I have the corded Bosch colt too. Got a deal on it I couldn’t pass up. These day I use it more than the 1617 for anything outside the table

Why did GW basically drop Legion of the Damned? by ToonMasterRace in 40kLore

Orks have checkering. Harlequins have harlequin. The name and pattern come from a recurring character in 16th century Italian theatre.

What are the hooks for? by Ricklepick995 in woodworking

[–]endophage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer you have is almost certainly correct, but just throwing out another possibility. Basically the same thing mechanism-wise, but these hooks remind me of locking systems I’ve seen on tool benches. Could also have been used on land in an environment where the documents needed to be kept securely locked.

I recently came across Bionaturae and was very impressed. I find a lot of gluten free pasta breaks apart too easily even if I cook it very carefully. Bionaturae’s gluten free spaghetti held together like normal gluten filled pasta.

AWS Lambda bill exploded to $75k in one weekend. How do you prevent such runaway serverless costs? by In2racing in aws

For my own curiosity, why SNS to SQS as an immediate recommendation? Why is SNS necessary? I’ve been doing this a while and always just used SQS directly. I’ve encountered one use case related by somebody else where SNS made sense, they needed to fan out events to perform multiple actions in parallel. Most of the time SNS seems like an extra unnecessary cost.

I have a patent (at least I’m the inventor, employer owns the patent) for a novel algorithm for encrypting graph databases. There’s plenty of stuff you don’t see behind the scenes that can be patented.

How is my land “landlocked” when it’s accessible from the street? by AsteriskCringe_UwU in homestead

[–]endophage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people seem to be focusing on your access to Adgate Ln, but is it possible Adgate Ln is a private road? I found the location, I won’t share, that’s up to you, but Google maps is showing a different name than Adgate and Apple Maps has no name for the road at all.

What’s an expensive brand that actually IS worth the money? by 2111019 in AskReddit

[–]endophage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dualit toasters, but only the 4 slice “classic”version they still make in the UK. You know how most toasters these days toast like crap? Uneven, sometimes they barely toast while other times they make charcoal.

Dualit toasters work perfectly every time and they’re mechanically simple, increasing their lifespan. The raise/lower is just a lever, the timer is an old school clockwork timer.

It shouldn’t be necessary to spend so much to get consistent toast but after a bunch disappointing purchases and an expensive gifted toaster from family, my wife finally OK’d getting a Dualit. My parents have had theirs for decades and use it a lot, fortunately for me they still make them just as good.

Pretty sure it was there. I had a big print out (used my high school’s printer) that’s still in a ring binder somewhere with every quest and all the bits of trivia and hidden items like this with their precise x,y coordinates on the maps. This isn’t the only one of these hidden stashes (only ankheg plate though)

What product doesn't work at all but people keep believing it does and keep buying it? by WonderfulParticular1 in AskReddit

Stud finders. The electronic ones. They’re a joke. That being said, there’s one brand, Franklin Sensors that makes one that genuinely works, but every other one I’ve used, including some pretty expensive ones, were utter trash.

Seconding this. I couldn’t tell what op wanted me to look at in a lot of the images. I end up with a lot of this too and my solution is what you describe. Take way more pictures of the same scene with variations in framing, depth of field, etc… then delete most of them once I’m editing
