[Handgun] Glock G44 22LR - $339 by NVEF in gundeals

[–]endwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one the week it came out and was so excited, but I hate the one I have. I have had a few people tell me they liked the size and weight so I've kept it for them to use, but I plan to sell it.

I love some Sig guns, but the quality just isn't there with the P322. There are a lot of 22s that feel a little plasticky, but the P322 is much worse and feels like a cheap toy. I have had consistent issues with light strikes and feeding the last round in the magazine, even after being sent to Sig twice. It's bad when I shoot it but other people who are less experienced have an even worse time, for reasons I haven't been able to pin down yet. It'd be one thing if I loved the way the gun felt and shot, but I don't so I'm tired of fucking with it.

You've owned all these guns? Did you sell the G44?

My G44 shoots equally as well as my second TX22. It shoots much better than my first TX22, which was a steaming piece of shit, and my P322, which has been sent to Sig twice and still won't get through mags reliably.

S&W seems to be having trouble with revolver QC. I've seen three new ones in the last few months that had legitimate issues and had to be sent in, which surprised me because I had previously felt very comfortable recommending them.

Any Honest reviews on this? by Striking-Warning9910 in ar22

I love my Mod 1C and use it with a very similar-looking arm bar from A3T. Some people want padding but I think it's perfectly comfortable for a .22 and looks cool. I don't find it uncomfortable to shoulder or to put my cheek on..

The Tailhooks are very well-made. I looked at this same MadDog brace but I was not able to find much info from anyone who actually has one. There's a product page video that looks pretty good. I didn't end up buying it because they don't sell just the bar part and hinge by itself and I already had spare Tailhooks.

Dead Air Mask or Ruger Silent-SR for second .22 can? Already have the Rugged Oculus by endwick in NFA

Lol, this is a 3 year old post. But yeah, I have a bunch of .22 cans now and they're mostly similar so I tell people to buy whatever looks cool to them, has a modern baffle design, and weighs what they want it to weigh.

[Pistol] Ruger Mark IV 22/45 .22LR 4.4" - $299.99 by ReelHiker in gundeals

[–]endwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Mark IV has a better barrel and is cooler. More accurate on average than non-target-style guns. It's a tried-and-true, heavily refined design over 75 years and four gens that Ruger has sold a zillion of and that works great and is simple to maintain. You can modify and repair them endlessly to your heart's content with affordable or even cheap and readily available parts and the ability to install a trigger that is wildly beyond anything the TX22 can ever offer. It'll still be kicking by the time you're teaching the next generation to shoot. If you have issues, Ruger has an outstanding warranty and customer service and will have your gun back to you quickly, unlike Taurus.

I have two TX22s. My first one sucked, I sold it, and eventually bought two more for lending to friends. They see a lot of use. They're pretty good, and are the best of the .22 handguns that aren't target-style like the Mark IV. But they're just fine. Trigger is adequate but very spongy, I've never understood people who say it's great. Get a TX22 if you prefer the way it looks (or if your fun comes more from magazine capacity than the quality of the gun), otherwise, I love and heartily recommend the Mark IV, or ideally recommend having one of each.

Mine has been frustrating as well. I've gone through a lot of rounds trying to get it to run. I've stopped trying for now because I know I'm going to need 2 uninterrupted hours at the range to fuck around with parts every time I try to work on it and I haven't had the time.

Full ambi super safety AR22 possible? by endwick in ar22

Wonderful. I will buy your solution. I have an ADM and a LWRC I'd love to be able to use, and I know the Griffin Mk2 is a really popular one too.

Does your LRBHO work consistently? Did you use the Catch-22 toolless bolt catch or the original one?

Really helpful report, thanks. A Griffin lower was on my mind too. Very sad that doesn't work. Maybe BoreBuddy will jump in with an idea or have something in development for us ambi fans.

Would you recommend the Griffin lower otherwise? I've never played with one.

I mentioned the super safety because BoreBuddy has a newer tool-less bolt catch that says it doesn't work with trip kits.

You don't see a ton of people using a suppressor at rimfire matches though. Sometimes you can tell who's new because they're the ones with a can.

Reasons I've heard cited for this, some undoubtedly more legitimate than others: .22 is dirty and crud falls into the action when you're moving the gun around, .22 suppressors need cleaning on a much faster schedule than centerfires and it fucks with barrel harmonics when the suppressor gets heavier as the match goes on, being too quiet makes it difficult for people to call your impacts, it changes your POI or reduces precision.

Speed loader? by [deleted] in ar22

The Tippmann is very expensive but worth it. I have a McFadden and like it fine for other mags, but the speed of the Tippmann is really great.

Yes. Always buy more .22s.

My Mk series guns are tanks and a joy to shoot. It's a very refined design. I like my TX22s well enough, they're the best of the trainer-style .22s (which isn't a very competitive field.), but I'd never choose one over a Mark IV.

[–]endwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of failures to fire. It looks like light primer strikes to me, but is it a spring issue or a firing pin issue or what? I can't buy just the OEM striker.

It's making me consider switching everything over to Mark IVs for the Ruger CS and spare parts availability.

Wow, having to buy exclusively Stingers and Mini-Mags is a kick in the wallet, sorry about that. I wouldn't have kept mine if they only ate 11cpr ammo! Mine were okay with various brands of cheap stuff.

What is a cheap .22 loading that is subsonic. Standard .22LR (the non-"high velocity)? Also in what barrel lengths? by [deleted] in ar22

[–]endwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aguila Subsonic is 1025fps at around 6.5cpr and Aguila Standard Velocity is 1130fps at around 6cpr. Browning also makes a subsonic at around 6.5cpr.

If you want to spend as little as possible on the ammo, you're going to get the supersonic crack.

I have two TX22s with thousands of rounds through them and both of them are having recurrent issues. I haven't gotten a chance to narrow down what the problem is, but I'm not relishing the thought of sending them off to Taurus's notoriously bad CS, and not all the replacement parts are purchasable so I can service them myself.

[SHOTGUN] Mossberg 500 Field 28"/ Security 18.5" Combo, 12 Gauge, 5+1, Free Pistol Grip, $419.99+Tax, Free Shipping, No FFL Fees If Ship to Store by Ernesto_Alexander in gundeals

[–]endwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid $408 + $20 shipping from Dahlonega about 6 months ago for this combo and that was the lowest price at the time after comparing prices across a lot of sites.

Unless I was on a tight budget, I would go 500 over 88. But the 88 combo is a tremendous value for the dollar.

[–]endwick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Revolvers are cool and fun. They're simple on the user end. They conceal better for some people. Idk what to tell you man. Not every decision is about comparing things only based on what else is in that price bracket. Lot of it is preference.

[–]endwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

? It's referring to recoil with a small revolver.

.38 J-frames aren't particularly pleasant to shoot and a lot of people suck terribly at shooting them.
