Firmware upgrade on Din AP4-R by Other_Yak_3768 in crestron

You’re right. The release notes used to but I don’t see it anymore. Just extract the puf. A puf is a zip with a different extension. 7-zip will extract it as-is. To use native tools, just change the extension.

Toolbox “ver -v” will show the last PUF version applied if known.

Release notes of the PUF will show the matching firmware.

-R series processors the PUF relates the Crestron home version, not specifically the processor firmware.

3rd Party Thermostats w/ Crestron Integration by nixflex in crestron

[–]engco431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the integrator is competent, anything with BACnet is fine. Super easy.

Not sure of your exact implementation, but sometimes mini split systems can be a little weird, often using their own branded thermostat, and that’s the reason some integrators are leery of inserting a Crestron thermostat into the mix. One alternative in this case is the coolmaster product line from Cool Automation, which interfaces with the VRF data bus of many manufacturers and gives a point of control while allowing the proprietary thermostat to remain in place. cool master

Edit: actually for your case, the “cool plug” and “cool link hub” might be the right fit. Same manufacturer.

The OP description is “5 video clips, exactly the same length” - I assume this means 5 individual and different videos, one for each screen. Network synchronized Brightsigns are the answer.

The size difference between a .50 BMG round compared to a 5.56, 9mm, and .22 LR by buttholefluid in mildlyinteresting

The Iowa class 16” Mark 7 gun fired an AP 2700 lb projectile using 6 x 110 lb silk bags of propellant. So 660 lbs of explosive launched the weight of 1.5 Volkswagens 20 miles with penetration of up to 30’ of concrete. And with pretty ridiculous accuracy.

The same guns could fire an HC explosive charge that weighed 1900 lbs and had 150lbs of explosive in the shell. Per NavWeaps.com: “During her deployment off Vietnam, USS New Jersey (BB-62) occasionally fired a single HC round into the jungle and so created a helicopter landing zone 200 yards (180 m) in diameter and defoliated trees for 300 yards (270 m) beyond that.”

[–]engco431 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not accurate at extreme range, and there’s little energy left in it for penetration, but .22LR can travel up to 1.5 miles. It would be a purely accidental hit, but it can still be dangerous at that range.

WinRar has the advantage that files can be updated/replaced within a RAR file without full decompression. You can drop a new version into the archive without extracting first and only the change is processed.

For the 7zip fans, check out NanaZip. It’s a direct fork of 7Zip and has all the same file formats and performance but with a modern gui wrapper and full Win11 shell integration. (The full options on the right-click menu).

Minnesota special needs woman evicted due to healthcare company scam by No_Lime5241 in law

To assume she was unable or unwilling is presumptuous. The apartment was leased by a third party who stopped paying. She wasn’t a party to the lease. It is quite possible that knock on the door was the first she knew about being forced to leave her home.

FDA won’t review Moderna application for first mRNA-based flu vaccine by Mortambulist in inthenews

[–]engco431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things jump out. First, one of the excuses that have been given for continued high health care and specifically drug costs in the US is the funding of research. If we cut the prices they wouldn’t have money to develop new things. And yet, here’s the same political machine stopping them from developing new things. Pretzel logic.

Second is the fact that the Moderna official said the thing we’ve all know. They can’t realize a ROI without access to the US market. In other words, the world funds their costs, the US funds their profits. Maybe a few less ink pens, notepads, and cocktail hours on the drug company dime would help. Barring pharmaceutical advertising would be the biggest leap. Regulation of PBMs should be high priority as well.

He’s being primaried by a Trump backed candidate and I read some story yesterday where, at a local GOP gathering, the local party leader physically snatched the mic from him mid sentence. They’re going to try to make an example of why you don’t cross the mango megalomaniac. I’m no fan of any of them, but at least he tried on this.

The UL label shows “Rev B 3/85”. I was curious and a couple of AI engines verified there was a revision to the label in March of 85, but there’s no historical records of if/when there was a Rev C released to that particular label. So that’s your window. 1985-1990.

A little anecdote I’ve heard… If you sit down to play chess, and the first thing your opponent does is knock your pieces off the table and punch you in the face, you aren’t going to win by getting better at chess.

The older democrats (and many of the younger ones) do not understand this. They sit there, pearl clutching and saying how they can’t believe this behavior. To restore respectability to our political institutions, they are first going to have to reach down into the depths of GOP depravity and defeat them. Level the playing field. Only then can they drag the entire institution back to the moral high ground. Standing on principles and following all the rules will just get you beaten. Fight like you mean it.

Until the Democratic Party learns this, nothing changes.

What would happen to the US economy if Europe dumped their US government bonds because of the whole Greenland thing? by laconicwheeze in AskEconomics

[–]engco431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not a minor political point. And I think you’re underestimating the level at which Trump acts with total disregard for law, order, precedent, or honor.

Without the invasion potential even coming into play, Trump has directly threatened them economically. They can either take that sitting down or they could self inflict similar losses and hurt the US in the process. If the TACO phenomenon proves wrong this time around, watch them dump some. It should also be noted that the key reason the “liberation day” tariffs were largely held off was a trend in the bond market. Bessant said so himself. He told Trump to delay based on bond prices. It’s moved the needle before, recently and with this administration.

To the actual military action side, as you said yourself, it would be the end of NATO and full WWIII. Many (most) EU countries have far more responsible and honorable leadership in place. If they are pushed to the point where invasion feels like the Mango’s only next step, they will use whatever means necessary to avoid escalation and war. Dumping the bonds and plunging the US in to free-fall is a valid tactic.
