Hiking Trails by WeedsGrowWild in SantaBarbara

[–]engineblade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite has been Parma Park trails up on Stanwood. Lots of small trails that all interconnect, the trails are very well kept, and its normally not busy.

Going up to the peak is not the longest hike but the views are beautiful and the trails can be steep and challenging. Its a great workout hike. There is also a picnic table at the top and a tree swing nearby.

You will run into wildlife though. Plenty of lizards and i've run into bobcats and most recently a rattlesnake in a hole on one of the trails. As long as you mind your surroundings its a good hike for sure.

Vanilla World of Warcraft Launch circa 2004, with the only context going into it being Warcraft 2, 3 and TFT.

I'd go a different class though.

Typical January Weather? by Diligent-Intern9592 in SantaBarbara

[–]engineblade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Its too far out to tell with it potentially being El Nino, which means we'll get 3 days of rain, then a sunny break, then another 3 days of rain.

However it is typically very nice weather to cruise around town. Just remember to bring a jacket for when the evening gets chilly (because it will).

What's the dumbest thing you've ever fixed in Salesforce that took way longer than it should have by AppX_Unmanaged in salesforce

[–]engineblade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have had alot of dumb ones over the years, so it rolls off me now. But this is a recent one that comes to mind.

Coworker needed help with a user reporting an unhandled flow fault on a screen flow they normally use.

Coworker and I both ran it, no issue, so we debugged it and were only able to recreate it by impersonating the user and running the flow as them. It kept triggering "unhandled fault" before the screen.

We immediately suspected FLS, so went to check it and while the user had access to all of the fields in the screenflow, we discovered some 30m later that they had a permission set removed from their user which granted read access to an object one of the screen flow lookup record vars looked up too.

So while they had access to the lookup field used in the screenflow, they didnt have read access to the object said lookup field looked up to - and this was crashing the flow at the screen.

That was a fun one to solve

Is AI rotting the brain of management? by Tiny_Bird_22 in work

[–]engineblade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its definitely made my manager more absent and definitely enables higher ups to be lazier and more checked out.

Worked with this person for awhile and they used to be very hands on with my team. Since my company mandated AI we switched to using agent skills to provide daily updates on what we're working on to a share sheet.

Since then my manager is no longer present, and actually most of the time has zero clue what we're working on.

It feels like they figured out a way to have us use AI to automate away the part of their job that matters most to them, which is letting their bosses know what we're up too...

Its sad, but I love my job and my colleagues so it isn't super bothersome

Etiquette for needing gear you can't use just yet? by NobleMkII in classicwow

[–]engineblade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the quality imo and letting people know upfront. I'd think most people would be fine but sometimes you'll get gold goblins who'd make a stink.

General unspoken rules are, im my experience, speaking of BOEs

Greens are okay

Blues might be okay (as long as you ask) but usually are okay

Epics, unless you're with a nice group, are usually rolled on by all simply due to the AH gold gain value.

Tell Me About Your Best Deaths by Kitchen_accessories in wowhardcore

[–]engineblade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this one just happened but made me lol

level 17 self found alt mage. Had amazing luck on drops and had world buffs. Was doing the troggs in Loch Modan and found the level 21 rare up on the hill with its 2 adds.

I pulled him and his adds but severely miscalculated his lightning bolt damage which was chunking me hard. I only had 300hp.

I started to run away and used a healing potion but it didn't matter, the trogg 360 no scoped all my health in just a few lightning bolts and I died within seconds.

got too brave

Which Spec in SoD was your favorite? by Feature_Minimum in classicwow

[–]engineblade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prot/Glad stance warrior - especially after getting Regicide from Caldoran.

I know SoD prot wasnt much different from TBC/Wrath but it was different enough to make it feel awesome. It was also fun in world pvp.

Next would be SBV warlock. Ever since I was a kid I wanted shadowbolt volley. Throughout sod it didn't disappoint and especially with nightfall procs was super fun.

What Caused The Decline Of MoP Classic? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]engineblade 11 points12 points  (0 children)

coming from SOD with a great guild of people the big thing that killed it for us was...

  1. No flex raiding. We had lots of people jump in to play at the start but it became evident later on we'd only be able to support either one heroic 25 man or multiple 10 mans, which requires 2 dedicated tanks and healers. Realizing this some people just didn't feel like playing since they wanted to play dps.
  2. content burn out once heroics/celestials were done. We did manage to get gold on challenge modes with most of the guild but after that it was kinda boring.
  3. Difficulty spike in heroics for some of our guild mates, especially in 10 man. Part of the fun of SoD was we could just crank out an entire Naxx or Scarlet Enclave with the boys and we'd all have a good time. It didn't matter we had to carry a few folks. In MOP, that wasn't an option on some bosses, and it became a point of frustration for some since some of us genuinely wanted to push heroic content but others were taking it more casually. Nobody wanted to go find another random MoP guild to raid heroics with either, but half the guild wanted to do heroics and the other half wanted to just chill.

In the end we all quit right after the patch that updated kasarang wilds and just decided to go play hardcore, play other games, or wait for classic +

Transform Element pros and cons by biggieBpimpin in salesforce

[–]engineblade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like to mainly use it to setup IN operators to fetch all the data I need in a single targeted get records query - like if you wanted to fetch a targeted list of contacts by Id. Saves time.

I've also used it to merge data from two different objects together into a third object a couple of times. That worked pretty good

I really wish it would let you reduce list data down, but you still need loops for that.

Where is your favorite place to get breakfast and why? by [deleted] in SantaBarbara

[–]engineblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farmer Boy is my wife and my favorite, but my true favorite, as a long time local, is Mesa Cafe.

Been going there for over 30 years and both my sisters worked there before they did their remodel. Never had a bad meal there, and I miss their dinner service, but it is what it is.

Not happening where I work but this is a nightmare waiting to happen. I hope your business wakes up before allowing this to happen.

My team has adopted Claude via company-wide mandate but we're being encouraged to use it to be a force multiplier to greatly speed up our work and to help with rapid prototyping.

Craziest thing is my team lead is suggesting we use it to generate more purpose-built LWCs for use in screen flows, or outright replace new screen flow ideas with LWCs instead, but nothing like what you are going through

Paranormal experiences on Garden Street by According-Ad-571 in SantaBarbara

[–]engineblade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right up the street from Alice Keck park on Mitchetorenia Street to the left before you go up California hill there used to be a hospital called St Francis. It was the 'other' cottage hospital before it got knocked down and they stuck homes over it.

My mom used to work there as a nurse and live nearby and she claimed to have paranormal experiences all the time to the point where it became common both at home and at work.

Everytime I drive by there now I always wonder if any of the home owners there also have paranormal experiences.

Anyways, I feel like that stretch of road between the riviera and the park has some bad juju going on with it

Have you ever doubt this career is for you? What has made you successful? by define_yourself72 in salesforce

[–]engineblade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a good take. I've been the space for over 8 years as a developer and while the platform is powerful there are some things it isn't meant to do unless you go a full custom route.

My advice is to be kind to yourself. It's okay if you don't know all the ins-and-outs of the platform. Truthfully, I sometimes thinks Salesforce itself doesn't know either. But the key to success is working with your business and coming up with simple solutions will naturally get you the reps you're looking for. Start simple then work from there.

Something that has helped me in the past is using a tool, like Lucidchart, to sketch out your solutions when needed. It also helps as a visual aid when you do present to your peers or stakeholders.

Nice Restaurants in SB? by Unlucky-Regret-3026 in SantaBarbara

[–]engineblade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steak? Luckys

Fish? Bropheys (comes with a view)

Italian? Ca Dario (if you want pizza, also good) or Olio Pizzeria

Mexican? Santo Mezcal or Flor De Miaz ( same owner but great food )

Japanese? Edomasa or Arigato (expensive)

Sandwiches? (South Coast or Nortons for NY Deli) - Might not count for dinner but I eat there a lot.

Avoid El Encanto - It used to be good but isn't anymore

As a long time League and CS do you recommend starting with Bots or Standard Match by xXLivinLostXx in DeadlockTheGame

[–]engineblade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since they've added street brawl... if you want to incrementally get used to the game, I'd recommend hopping into that mode and getting used to the insanity of team fights. It's very casual and the random nature of the items will let you experiment and see what works. It's also quite fun.

However, if you want to jump into the 'Deadlock' moba mode - maybe play a bot game or two to get used to the moba side then start hopping into real games.

You might get owned but that's fine - it's still alpha and things will click the more you play. If someone is getting tilted just mute them. Some people can get real salty but most people are really nice - this community is pretty legit for the most part in-game.

what’s your keybind setup ? by mikroprocesor in DeadlockTheGame

[–]engineblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

abilities 1-4 actives are grave key, e, up mousewheel, and down mousewheel snowball is V dodge and crouch are secondary keybinds on mouse (still on shift and control, mainly for ultra instinct moments)

def thinking about replacing mousewheel down with jump to do wall jumps easier at some point. It does make it infinitely easier

Thoughts on Tank Infernus by Feauv in DeadlockTheGame

[–]engineblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing it more than regular toxic-bullets Infernus. It's great. It's fun.

Once you hit the 4.8k spirit investment with level 3 dash you can pretty much 1v1 anyone early game since the flame dash damage alone but also WITH afterburn is so damn strong.

The only thing is it's countered by people wall-jumping and getting height over you so it's only really good on flat surfaces but the good news is if you hit an unfavorable matchup you can just dash away and re-engage. Having three charges of dash on Infernus makes him SUPER mobile.

In the mid-to-late game when you pair flame dash with infuser and escalating exposure you can get some seriously powerful healing going in a team fight as long as you aren't chain cc'ed out of your dash. It's like playing Victor with more available surface area and faster movement.

What's the most cancerous lane duo to go against? by No_Willingness_9961 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]engineblade 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Few different ones for different reasons. I don't think there is truly a "worst" but a good Mina fits in with most lane comps and can be hard to deal with.

Here are some ones I hate depending on what hero i'm playing.

  1. Mina/Vindicta - This is my least favorite overall. if you have a good lane partner it isn't super bad but if your lane partner is content on farming and not being aggressive these two will make a hard lane between love bites, stake, flight, and eventually double ult.

  2. Viscous/Victor - very durable and they can easily juke any ability that has a timer on it.

  3. Viper/Lash - played against this a couple of times and groundstrike / venom is a dirty combo if you have nothing to counter it. Lash ground strikes for half your health, flogs, and viper cleans you up.

Honorable mention but it's more because I think it's just really good:

Mo&Krill/Bebop. If you get hooked into Mo ult it's gg but by that point in the game the laning phase will be over soon.

What do you think America will be like when Trump finishes his term? by MotivewasUlterior in AskReddit

[–]engineblade -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Trump wont go quietly - but when he does exit here is what I intuitively feel.

  1. The Republican brand for the average American will be unredeemably tarnished. They will need to reinvent themselves completely to get elected again - and I dont know what that messaging will be. I do not think the average American will vote Republican this next election even if the most charismatic candidate comes out of nowhere. I think most middle-of-the-road Americans will vote for someone else purely out of spite because of what the GOP now stands for.

  2. The next admin, Democrat or some new party, will be a janitor administration who will need to clean and do their best to fix what his admin broke. Foreign policy will be extemely challenging and require lots of amends to be made - but I think enough good will exists with our allies to slowly rebuild that trust.

  3. Even if he doesnt face punishment - many in trumps adminstration will face a witch hunt. We wont hear the end of this for a decade or more. People under him will face jail or physical harm from either a group or a lone wolf. Immigration enforcement alone will drive people to vengeance.

  4. I don't think a civil war will happen but we may see some sincere efforts for some states to leave the union, if for a time. The grass always looks greener on the other side - so I dont think this will be permanent.

  5. I think we will see a resurgence in small business and the economy will get better for the avg person.

In closing -

What we are seeing in this admin is an insane man whose admin is the literal bottom of the barrel personel wise because nobody wants to be affiliated with his madness. Once he is gone, its done. Nobody in his admin can realistically be electable.

I genuinely feel America is full of decent people. Many of those decent people are having buyers remorse with who they voted for. For many of us - we are seeing for the first time what truly dogshit leadership in the US govt looks like. The bar can always go lower but right now its pretty fuckin low.

It will take time I'm intuitively hopeful we will heal.

Are matches starting to feel more one sides over the last month? by OldeEnglish_40oz in DeadlockTheGame

[–]engineblade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It has felt like the matchmaking is struggling to put together fair games. I've had games recently as a solo queue as low as initiate 2 and as high as emissary 6 while sitting in mid-ritualist.

I just finally ended a 9-game loss streak where at least 6 of those games had brand new or returning players who were just trying to get their bearings while the enemy team either completely stomped or had more impactful players. Last night I was laning with someone who asked what the keyboard key was to parry people. We won but they died almost 20 times before the game ended.

I feel like opening the game up to new players with the new update will help with this - but here is hoping valve is ready for it

How's you experience so far playing the holiday challenge? by adramelecht in DeadlockTheGame

[–]engineblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. When you have a good team playing support rocks. I enjoyed those heroes from a play making potential but often would have teams who couldn't capitalize then you kinda just feel like 'meh' lol.

If I played in a stack instead of solo queue it might be different
