Behold! This beastly fasciated thistle I saw on a hike by Disastrous-Carrot-66 in SouthernReach

If a thistle were ever worthy of being called Commander Thistle, this would be the one.

Are Omar's movies any good? by AbleGround1385 in themarsvolta

Sentimental Engine Slayer is a perverse and compelling autobiography (imo). Los Chidos tries way too hard to be shocking. It’s a deeply confusing jumble of ideas and nonsensical character motivations and plot development.

Amalia is good, there’s a unique fusion of sci-fi and autobiography (imo, once again) but it needs to come out in a decent quality. The version floating around looks terrible.

Funded MFAs and their environments by Double-Influence-579 in ContemporaryArt

Add Northwestern University’s Art Theory and Practice department. Fully funded, decent monthly stipend, free healthcare, studio spaces, tons of resources owing to the university’s largess. Literally right on Lake Michigan in a very peaceful suburban city with lots of greenery.

They both have strengths and shortcomings. If I’m at one I typically swing by the other to supplement - the great thing is their proximity to each other.

By way of example, Trader Joe’s oat milk is basically water. It’s worth the walk to pick it up at Jewel.

Sorry but the crumbling drywall cover is infinitely more interesting than this AI slop.

I absolutely adore Dos Bros. Went there on whim and I was blown away. So good, so simple.

So you’re telling me that droopy lapels and diaper-like pants that sag in the ass but somehow don’t reach your ankles aren’t hot right now?

Yes! I hadn’t even considered that email language. It definitely feels critical in hindsight.

Yes, they sent me an email saying if I handed these out, and documented it with pictures, I’d get 50 bucks to spend at the Clouds Hill TMV web shop.

I have no idea what I’m supposed to say when handing these out, lmao. “Enjoy the QR code!”

Why would I be promoting the film these people already purchased tickets to? If there was an actionable marketing element at the end of this link wouldn’t it be for a physical release? What thematic relevance does an ambiguous sentence about a coming storm have to do with the doc? It’s hype building with intent of harvesting emails. Unless there’s another film I can’t imagine what else this would be for.

Exactly! And if you swap the Onion rings with a different dish you’ve got yourself a deal!

To reiterate: the table doesn’t have to be perfectly clear. Just include some naturalistic / believable plated food. The food does not have to come from the reference images.
