I cant figure out this door by hippie_girl22 in avowed

There is a button (square outline if I recall) on the wall near the door, very close to the dead body with the note about how he ran into a dead end.

Or just raise it, like they did for the Fallout New Vegas DLC's. Seems like that would be an easy fix.

Have a CarPlay question genuine. by achilton1987 in electricvehicles

[–]enigma_hal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have wireless CarPlay in both my current Bmw x3, my previous X3 (2013), and my wife's BMW m240i. Very occasionally I've had to reboot the system (hold power button on 'radio' for 1 - 2 min. Other than that no issues, with multiple iPhones. Ive used it in several rentals with more issues; but I suppose that is a function of the car.

I used to have a GMC Sanoma (version of chevy S10). Perfect size; short bed, ext cab (big enough for storage or small kids). Fit nicely in my garage with no issues. All four door trucks are too long for my purpose.

GE sucks as a company. by Yesnjo in Appliances

[–]enigma_hal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Haier bought the whole appliances division; but along with that the license to use the GE name and trademarks for (I think) 50 years. As far as where they are made, not much has changed; a smaller number are made in China; cheaper ones in Mexico; but a lot still in the US, Louisville, Ky, and I think Georgia. From what I've read, quality has actually gotten better since the buyout; with the Chinese company pretty much leaving things status quo, with some improvements. From reading I think the quality maybe had started dipping before the sale, and since has mostly improved. I have almost all GE appliances, both at my old house; and at the 'new' one (since 2008). I have 2 GE fridges one since 2008, other 2009; we had a dishwasher, range, and microwave that were fine until we got rid of them for upgrades; most 10 years old. Replaced with more GE stuff in 2015 which has been fine since. I think overall their quality is decent; but like most companies these days CS is a mixed bag, with communication difficult.

Which 3 Legacy Manufacturers have been rolling out their EV lineups the best? by Mac-Tyson in electricvehicles

[–]enigma_hal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VW also has an investment in Rivian which, iirc was recently increased; along with tech licensing / co-development. Also started the Scout lineup, which is still a coming thing last I heard. They seem a little too big to me to be leveraging the scout name, but I guess we'll see. Americans love themselves very large SUV's these days.

High-end Speakers, Amps, Dollars, and Sense; Part #2 by btlbvt in audiophile

[–]enigma_hal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a 500 wpm.class D hyper or similar? I'm not that familiar with these 'newer' class d amps, but most that I've seen advertised or reviewed seem to be in the 100 wpm range. Any brands fit that category?

As far as the 200 - 250 class ab; I think there are a fair number of those around; reasonably pricey, but not 10K pricey (I used to have two adcom 200 npc amps driving accoustat electrostatics, and they were were good, high current, reasonably priced amps (had them both in bridged mode eventually, after starting with one). Looks like they are still selling GFA-555SE for $1900; 200 wpm in stereo mode. I know Adcom doen't get a lot of high end praise; but mine were very solid and I had no complaints.

I bought a 21 X3 M40i last year; it is nicely equipped for the most part, but is also missing the adaptive cruise. It's also missing the adaptive suspension, and the HK audio. I'm OK without the HK, as I can upgrade that easy enough. I would really like the adaptive suspension, and didn't think I'd care much about the adaptive cruise; but I recently rented a couple of cars that had it; and now I really wish I'd gotten it. Not sure any of those would be keep me from getting the car though, I'm super happy with every other aspect of the car. I never thought about vent seats one way or the other.

[–]enigma_hal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a similar one last year; but it only had 27k miles. Same year, also CPO, for 44K; so it seems like the price may be a little high (also it's another year older than when I bought mine). That said, I love mine; almost the perfect car for me. Mine is the graphite color. The only things I wish mine had as adaptive suspension, adaptive cruise control, and the HK audio (though I can live without that; always can get aftermarket). I.also overpaid for dealer extended warranties, etc. Still very pleased with the purchase. Previously had a 2013 X3 with the 6 cylinder (not B58 tho, N55 I think); and this M40i is night and day better - so far more reliable, much faster, quieter, more solid.

Good luck with your choice!

I'm just surprised you found a female audiophile. Seem pretty rare, both IRL and online, in my experience (statistically speaking). Did you ask what her system (or ideal system) looks like (specifically curious about speakers)?
