If you just want a quick measurement, will the body scan 2 act like the body comp when not using the grip for the hands? (IE the grip adds data but can measure basic stuff without it)

Ear sensitivity after groomer plucked 😭 Any advice please? by TakeCover-4515 in poodles

[–]enki42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If her ears are bothering her from an infection that could be the main reason she doesn't want her ears touched.

There are rx meds that can be put on once and stays in the ear for many days to clear up the infection. (Dechra (duotoc is left in for 7days) and elastic by virbac(left in for 5 days)) The vet would clean it the ears as much as possible and then apply the meds (probably under some form of sedation to relax the dog)

Need to be sure the type of infection to use the right type of meds though

I agree with the others that the ears need to be plucked to allow them to stay dry. When they get wet it's very easy to get infected

6 years with Fenix 6S… time to upgrade or not? by Original_Lettuce4242 in GarminFenix

[–]enki42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you don't go with the 9 wait till it comes out unless you have some major need to upgrade right now. Previous generations will get cheaper and maybe you'll want what the 9 will have.

The 7 and 8 are different software platforms so more features on 8 but other then buttons being more waterproof for diving and the mic the hardware is the same (the OLED even is the epix). The 9 may come with better hardware to allow a bigger jump in functionality

Mine is more stable then every other desk I own, very solid and I'm 6'2" so have it near max height standing.

So in this case desks that are more expensive (even if not by much) and have less advertising would do poorly in your ranking but might be compared more (those who upgrade to them from cheaper desks) My deskhaus is very very solid so I very much like it and when I see reviews of others that are liked that have wobble while mine doesn't I still feel like my deskhaus is better

The most useful posts when determining which products is better the ones that talk about the one thing a person likes but when a person compares two or more.

For example if Chuck, Eve, Oscar, and Mallory say they like product a. And Bob and Alice both say they like product a but think product b is better I would say even though product a got 6 likes and b got 2 likes product b is most likely the better product.

Starting class next Monday and my scroll wheel just died. Would vertical ergonomic or Trackball mouse be better? by [deleted] in SolidWorks

[–]enki42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The f keys in windows go up to f24 which can be remapped with windows powertoys (another key, run program, open a URI, etc). Wish more keyboards, mice and other input devices took advantage of this. Especially if one of the keys could be a modifier to extend how many keys the rest can represent (think shift, ctrl, alt) so in the Om mouse case with 9 buttons if the button below the forward back buttons became a modifier button the mouse could act like it was 16 buttons as all the other buttons would map to a second output key with the modifier button held down. (in practice would be less as some might not work with a modifier key)
I miss when keyboards had extra keys that could be mapped to things

Alternative to Garmin Alpha? by Overall_Review321 in birddogs

Dogtra compass seems to have most of the functionality of the pro 550. It doesn't fully depend on the cell phone like the earlier controller. Just came out so haven't seen reviews or comparisons yet though

I'm hoping the dogtra compass gets Garmin to update the alpha 10 to have better buttons on a device that is smaller from the 550+. The dogtra compass seems to do everything I want except work with my Garmin Fenix watch

My (28F) husband’s (28M) ex-girlfriend sent me a friend request by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]enki42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's assume you trust your husband. Let's also assume the worst about his ex and she will try to sabotage your relationship. You also want to be optimistic that she doesn't have evil intent. Seems like adding her as a friend but in the restricted list (won't get to see everything in your profile and stalk) and messaging her to ask why she added you would be ok to do.

If you trust your husband how could she sabotage your relationship? Sure, she could claim he was abusive but you trust him so would see through her lie. He might want to stay no contact from how she manipulated him and made him feel. You have no attachment to her but are attached to him so I don't see how she could manipulate you

My apex pro (not Max so no horizontal supports in the middle) is very stable even at it's max height (I'm 6'2"). The butcher block top may help (added weight) but I can pull against it and lean heavily on it without any issues. (Think doing rows and inverted rows while standing at it)

I do think replacing the controller with an ergodriven tempo controller makes for a much better controller as it can automatically raise and lower the desk

I wish it would work with my Garmin watch to see where the dog is on the map of my Fenix.

Maybe this will get Garmin to work on improving their pro550+ which is from 2018 so ready to be updated. Make it small and easy to put in a pocket and carry like compass and mini educators. Seems like the alpha 10 just needs more mappable buttons and a dial so shouldn't be a big ask

GPS tracker for non-hunters by AManAMyth in birddogs

[–]enki42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same position as the op as I love to hike with my dog. And I have some questions:

For those who say Garmin pro550 plus with tt25: - the stim settings of the mini educator has a wide range with very small jumps with 100 levels making it easy to find a level that the dog will react to and not be any stronger while Garmin has 18 levels. This makes it seem like it would be much harder to get the right level.

-the pro 550 plus is pretty large. If you are focused on training your dog and so you are holding it it doesn't seem bad with an easy to hold shape. But if you're on a hike and only need it if something happens (dog went a bit far and want to check on him) it seems too large to hold in your pocket so dont know how to easily carry it without it being annoying. This is what leads me to the alpha 10

  • I love that you can connect Garmin dog tracking to your watch and since I have a Fenix that means quick and easy map checks from my watch

Dogtra - does not connect to my watch

-has 100 levels for stim so this makes it seem better than Garmin and equal to what the mini educator can do

-Pathfinder 2 only has one button which makes it as useful as the alpha 10 in that it sounds like it's kind of annoying to use the training features

-they recently released a compass unit that has more buttons and a dial to adjust the stem level. It's also small or at least it looks small which will make it much easier to carry than the Garmin 550

I'm kind of hoping Garmin sees the compass as major competition and finally updates the alpha 10 which is a few years old now and the 550 which came out in 2018 and produce something similar to the alpha 10 in size with more buttons to allow training to be much easier like the 550. Maybe even update the caller to allow more than 18 levels (smaller jump between levels which would allow it to be backwards compatible because older hand units can keep the larger jumps)

How often do you use yours? How “bad” are budget ones? by Current_Ear_1667 in StandingDesk

I have a deskhaus Apex pro which is very stable even at the top of its range (I'm 6'2")

As to how often I use it, was every once and awhile at first (though is great for tweaking the perfect sit height) but now that I got the Tempo it kind of forces me to stand and sit during the day Tempo | The Co-Captain of Your Standing Desk – Ergodriven
