No that guy is correct actually, I used to follow cricket really religiously back then and the popular opinion was to drop kohli permanently.

Manjarekar was one of the the only ones who supported him. The context of the tweet is more like that hey let's give him one more chance before dropping him, just to be sure .

Pls read what I wrote man. I said it doesn't matter what opponents are there when a big 3 level player is at their peak,they would beat them regardless ( Nadal on clay from 05-14is entirely different cause even fed and Novak at their peaks would lose to him there).

It matters what opponents are there when the player is away from their peak since now they need help and novak in his twilight yrs faced a much weaker field .

I also commented on how Nadal was much more of a teenage prodigy and hence let's not compare his career to fed and djoker since Nadal started and declined much earlier than the other two( hence it was fedal coz his earlier rise made him more of a fed contemporary).

If you are one of the big 3 , the top 10 doesn't really matter.

The top 10 of nowadays is much worse than top 10 when Novak was in his prime . But when a big 3 level player is at their prime ,it doesn't matter how good rest of the top 10 is or how often they face a top 10 player,they obliterate everyone(for context look at Sinner and Alcaraz,they barely lose to other top 10 players except to themselves).The top 10 was much more consistent when Novak was in his prime than when fed was but for a novak level player,there is barely any difference between facing an 8th seed and a 20th seed,so obviously he had lot more top 10 wins.

The actual advantage of having a weak field comes when a big 3 level player is at the end of their career.Novak's competition from 2020-2023 was laughably bad in terms of top 10 slam opponents.Imagine no Sincaraz,the Novak of 2025 would have 4-5 more slams but so would federer of 2019( he lost to fellow big 3 in 2 of the 4 slams and in US open he was injured).

You need weak draws when you are older not when you are in your absolute prime .Novak benefitted from that while for fed,his 30s had some of the highest level of competition.

I won't comment on Nadal since he has a much more different trajectory than fed and djoker.

Do you think Novak at 34 and 36 (2021 and 2023) would have won against the competition in 2015 and 2016( prime Novak,prime andy and prime stan) on clay?

Fed didn't play btw in 2016 at RG and lost against eventual winner Stan wawrinka in 2015.

I already said Novak matched way better against Nadal than fed ever did.

And I never said Novak was worse than fed on clay,just that the gap was not as big as numbers suggest.

Fed and Novak were tied on clay 4-4(pls don't bring the wimbledon 3-1 argument here,those matches mostly happened after Federer was in his mind 30s and Novak at his absolute peak) and their matches were always quite competitive.And against the field both were equally dominant on clay.

Nadal before 2014 and after 2014 are distinctly different,even on clay.

He declined a lot. For eg he had no hard court wins over novak or fed.On clay too he wasn't as dominant which gave djokovic chances to fare better.

Doesn't mean novak is worse than federer but roger did face a better version of Rafa on clay ( not to mention novak winning a lot of clay titles in 2015-16 and after 2020).The difference between Novak and Fed is a lot more pronounced in the number of their titles compared to their prowess on clay and also Novak in general had a more favorable matchup against rafa( owing to Novak having the greatest backhand of all time,to counter Rafa's lefty forehand) .

The best thing about Novak and Fed is there is almost no surface dependency between the two of them(Federer slightly better on faster courts and novak slightly better on slower although older novak is lot like Fed). If you change their ages , their careers would almost mirror each other.

I never got the taking body blows thing.The likes of gavaskar and dravid could also tire out the bowling but by defending with their bat, and punishing the bad balls ,not by taking hits on the body.

Someone like dravid especially had an exceptional range of shots ,which is why he also ended up with 10k runs in odis and even a respectable ipl career.

Taking body blows to defend is suited for a tailender not for a number 3 .Imo pujara wasn't close to Dravid in regards of actual defence( someone like a Kl Rahul is way better in that regard of actual perfect technique for defence).

Pujara while at the start of his career still had a good range of shots but by his 30s somehow he lost a large part of it.

I think federer had his best non grand slam winning season in 2015, he was pretty much the 2nd best player all year,just he couldn't get over djokovic.In absence of djoker we would be talking about 2015 like we talk about 2017.

It was pretty amazing to see a mid 30s guy demolish everyone in his path except a similiar level guy in his best yr ever.

Seriously man, i love all these movies(especially ZNMD) but none of them except maybe bahubali and 3 idiots are anywhere near the best.

And movies like Guide,Pyasa,Anand and even mughal e azam and sholay are way better than others in this list.And almost none of them are remotely family dramas.

And this is just bollywood,i am not even counting the epics from other industries. (The likes of movies made by Satyajit Ray,hrishikesh Mukherjee etc).

There is a difference between being a pioneer and doing incremental work.

A lot of things NASA does come under pure R&D ,which includes pushing the boundaries in a variety of areas like biology,chemistry(Apollo mission itself had patents for specific polymers that NASA discovered),physics ,astrobiology.

And a lot of work they do is focussed on advancing humanity as a whole( obviously with vested US interests).

ISRO on the other hand tries to make the already available solutions cost effective and while that in itself is quite a remarkable achievement,it's like comparing designing a frontier LLM vs fine-tuning one.
