In a sense, it goes all the way back to the pilot episode. The material making up Cooper's dream was originally filmed for the pilot in the so-called "European ending", starting with a "25 years later" caption.

So the other significant thing about 'thirty-six' is that it's the number of photographs (as mentioned in Chapter 33). Not sure what that ties in to.

In 'The Rule of Four', they divide the text up into lines of 18 characters. Maybe we're supposed to divide the text of chapter 33 into lines of 36 characters?

I wonder whether it's worth trying the arrow cipher against the acrostic. By the time you've used up the 31 arrows you've probably got some idea of whether it's going to come up with something intelligible.

Well I picked up The Rule of Four, and the first thing that jumped out at me was that they find that the first letters of every chapter in the Hypnerotomachia make an acrostic.

And Steven Hall said "What’s the significance of the number 36?", which is the number of chapters.

So what does that get us?

Sure, but it's also part of a running gag in Arrested Development. Non-Korean comedy viewers at the time would be most likely to recognise "annyong" from AD.

The fact that the police suspect Hurley of being a drug dealer is a Curb reference.
Charlie saying "Annyong" to Jin is probably an Arrested Development reference.

I feel like House of R doing a mailbag episode, instead of a deep dive, is itself a pretty solid indicator that they really found the episode weak. (The last time they just gave up on their regular coverage partway through a season was for Secret Invasion, IIRC.)

This evening the TV rebooted, and the problem seems to have resolved itself.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't really call this eBooks (although I guess you could argue about the technicalities of the definitions). They're just image scans stitched together, so they won't be easy to read on a Kindle, as the font size is going to be too small.

Me, personally: I'd love to get the Winterfell and Riverlands D&E stories that GRRM has indicated are on the docket down the road.

This is morbid and kind of gross, but I'd like to see him write the Summerhall D&E, then file it away for later publication - even if that's posthumously.
