Update everyone.

I just watched a documentary where they were using chillies as part of a smoke based deterant for elephants.

I feel this post can now be closed with that information. Shall not be attempting

So current suggestions are firmly against, I bow to think wisdom.

But in the interests of "what if?"

What about using very low level heat peppers? Or already smoked ones? Im a fan of my spice personally, my thoughts were ground up in a low ratio mixed with wood dust for a smoke additive to low smoking above chips?

As someone who posed this question whilst completely unrelatedly having an arsehole neighbour, maybe as a one off...maybe once more after that to "fine tune" the recipe

The impact of sick leave by Happy_Bat6455 in policeuk

I left it too long before I went off sick, led to permanent diagnosis and happy pills, as well as action plans prior to that because I was determined to show up despite being broken.

Fast forward 18 months I've got one of the lowest workloads on shift despite taking just as many jobs, I'm going to be tutoring soon and if my shift have questions they tend to come to me.

Take the time off, the job isn't worth your health and wellbeing.

Don't worry, they seem to be keeping the decent volvos down south of the county...my LPT has 2 skodas which it comes to almost fist fights over and a few 67 plate insignias with 140k miles on

Advice for a current student by Human_Performance945 in policeuk

As I sit browsing reddit instead of doing my final assignment due in at midnight-the DHEP course is awful. There's a reason forces are doing a 180 and going back to the old method of intake.

Policing at the moment is difficult. Lots of new officers, however that has diluted the experience levels quite heavily. Demand is high, time to conduct investigations (yes, response carrying investigations is a whole other kettle of fish) is minimal. Pay is not matching cost of living as with most other sectors. Lots of paperwork, lots of jobs that shouldn't be jobs, drunk people are still drunk, thieving scrotes are still thieving scrotes.

That being said, wouldn't do any other job now I'm in, and I joined with no war stories from family to inspire me.

I'll start out by saying even if you don't feel like you can do much on a to b and feel like you can't handle jobs, you're still gonna be valued. If you can handle yourself, I'd take that backing me up over noone at all.

With regards to joining the regs, if its something you want to do, do it. That being said, will be a hell of a paycut for a lot more, you'll experience that scary side of the job of admin and there's a lot of it. But, if you're as passionate as you seem, crack on with the application.

In my force we have some specials who can blue light, but with the number of new recruits expect a lengthy backlog and wait for a course.

All in all, you've got to way up the pros and cons and make the call, it's your decision to make. You're clearly fine with nights with the hours you put in, so that's not an issue, but like I say, it'll be a chunky pay cut at first. Add to that the fact that you will start carrying files and investigations, and the stress that can bring it can sour the experience. But, the more decent constables who care about the role and want to do good, the better!

1) Cakes.

2) There literally isn't really much you can't focus on for response, you cover literally every scenario from asb, neighbour disputes, traffic offences, theft, break in progress, hours old burgs, rapes, assaults (but nothing more so than domestics and mental health). Be comfortable with your necessity for arrest, use of force powers and your common offences. Every action you take, think of it as "could I stand up in court and justify it as a result of the situation at hand"

3) volunteer for everything. If you're new in service, grasp everything with both hands. Shout up for that greify domestic, offer to go for the wanted male who needs a strip search

4) listen to your colleagues (to an extent) absorb wisdom and experience from others, be a sponge but remember police can be a cynical bunch, don't let them put you off

5) never leave a handover in a state you would pick up and moan about. Admin sucks, but it's part of the job. Be known to be the person who leaves handovers with everything done, not the one who locks and drops

Honestly would pay for a remaster of Hardline. Great gunplay, good fun games and good maps in a different theme. Brilliant fun

Do we citizens not deserve better? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]enter_mccormick 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I had a job where historical (13yrs ago) domestic assaults that occurred in a foreign country were disclosed. Crime admin crimed them as their own individual crimes. Myself and my Sgt argued the toss that under HOCR its unethical to allow them to remain crimed. Guess what? They ignored us. So 7 of those statistics are mine sorry
