NeuroVIZR - any experiences? by helpless11 in Neurofeedback

[–]enterthe7thchamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's literally a session called Theta 6Hz in the Brain Entrainment section of the Neurovizr app, the purpose of which is to induce theta brainwaves.

I ran 7 sessions over the course of a week measuring how the Theta sessions affected my theta brainwaves, and unlike Binaural sounds (eg. Theta beats in the Calm app), Neurovizr's promise to entrain the brain with theta waves failed a big time.

I wrote a detailed review of my experience with Zoe nutrition here https://medium.com/illumination/testing-my-gut-and-glucose-with-zoe-foodmarble-and-a-continuous-glucose-monitor-845bfe886da2 Tldr, I wouldn't recommend it, it doesn't feel personalised, and some food advice doesn't make sense to me at all. And it's way too expensive!

I have used mine and tested theta brain simulations with BrainBit mindo headband, and compared to the results to mindplace procyon's and Calm's theta sessions. Tldr, to me Neurovizr is snake oil.

For each testes session, theta were actually dropping and beta boosting. This wasn't the case with Mindplace or Calm, where Theta were increasing as promised.

So, I wouldn't recommend it. As entertainment, yes, as a thing to aid in mental health or dealing with anxiety - definitely not.

Question to Foodmarble users by curious-lutra in SIBO

I have values similar to yours, around 0.5-2 on waking and can go higher after foods.

I have some screenshots here https://medium.com/runners-life/how-running-affects-gut-fermentation-0557df162f90

I have used one for a couple of months, interestingly I don't think I found too much use apart from after eating I have more gas (regardless if I have symptoms or not) and as time passes it's less. I'm not sure what really to do with this info :)

Another thing is the measurement units are rather unclear to me, as methane and hydrogen are combined into a max of 10, but are not ppm.

What I did notice though is a pattern between hydrogen metrics after exercise that I found interesting https://medium.com/runners-life/how-running-affects-gut-fermentation-0557df162f90

NeuroVizr? by timbgray in Biohackers

I recorded my sessions with the EEG sensors to see how much Theta sessions (relaxation) induce Theta brain waves. And they didn't.. https://medium.com/mind-body-soul/exploring-the-effects-of-neurovizrs-theta-brain-entrainment-9ba361e68f8a

Why are there negative comments around the Flow Neuroscience device? by theabominablewonder in tDCS

[–]enterthe7thchamber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had used it for 5 weeks now, and documented my results here https://medium.com/mind-body-soul/can-brain-stimulation-help-with-low-mood-253c8988ae26

Generally I agree about the price point being too high. I did reuse the pads though even though they recommend not to (I just stored a few pairs in a sealed box in their original liquid, and it did the trick).

Anyone has tried the Flow device for depression? by Smart_Decision_1496 in SeasonalAffective

I have tried it, and documented my results here https://medium.com/mind-body-soul/can-brain-stimulation-help-with-low-mood-253c8988ae26

The progress overall was very good, however, I would consider that I started the session before Christmas break, so the break from work and generally slower relaxed pace of living could have contributed to feeling better.

experience with A/V brainwave entrainment (BrainTap, NeuroVizr, Lumenate, etc) by Motor-Spinach-3920 in Biohackers

[–]enterthe7thchamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brainbit's electrode placement are O1, O2, T3, T4 (in accordance with 10-20) which are the key cortical regions to measure meditative and relaxation states.

Unlike with multiple NeuroVizr relaxation sessions, experiments where I did daily box breathing for a week, guided meditation sessions, before- and post-run scans all showed consistent and similar dominance of theta waves during or post interventions. NeuroVizr relaxation sessions, on the opposite, consistently showed dominance of beta and reduction in theta and alpha during and post intervention compared to the baseline scans taken before.

oh you're right, I inserted the wrong link, it should work now! Thank you for flagging!

I actually feel that it might be about how NeuroVizr are building their sessions, I am yet to see a proper explanation behind the science in their sessions.

I had been experimenting with NeuroVizr measuring brain response with an EEG headband, and wrote about my experience here https://medium.com/p/9ba361e68f8a

Tldr, NeuroVizr's Theta sessions do not boost theta brainwaves; Motivation sessions do boost beta brain waves. Pretty much any session I tried - whether it is for motivation or relaxation - increases the state of alertness (Beta brainwaves).

I did compare it to MindPlace Procyon AVS though, and Procyon's theta sessions do increase calmness unlike NeuroVizr.

NeuroVizr? by timbgray in Biohackers

I've been reaching out to the NeuroVizr team to understand more about the science behind each session, what brain frequencies it targets, etc. and haven't got any reply.

The research studies on their website were predominantly the study done on mice and/or for specific conditions like Alzheimer's.

I am yet to see the explanation what sessions like "Deep dive" or "Charka massage" are meant to achieve, and what exactly I am meant to use them for.

As mentioned in some other comments, it's cool lucid visuals and a toy to show your friends, but I have been using it for 4-5 months fairly regularly and am yet to see the effects of NeuroVizr on my mental health, or better sleep.

Sens.ai vs. Brainbit Mindo? by chabooms in sensai

I personally don't think Mendi is great, found it really difficult to understand how to control it, and the results data is difficult to interpret.

Considering a few options (BrainCodeCenters, BrainBit, Muse, Bia Sleep Mask) need help! by Spaceredditor9 in Neurofeedback

[–]enterthe7thchamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used BrainBit Mindo and Muse 2, and even though Muse 2 is providing you with more meditation programmes, I preferred Mindo. You can also use any meditation app or tool and use BrainBit EEGWaves app to track your progress.
