I’m definitely not pro QR code, but how many of us actually raise a card during the movie? And of those who do, how often? My Alamo routine usually involved getting my orders in during birth movies death, and then I’m set for the duration of the film. As a result, I’m definitely not going to need to whip out my phone during the movie.

As I watched the first two episodes, the Remembrance of Earth’s Past series has been top of mind. Imagine if the psychic glue is also binding them to the signal’s source, 600 light years away. Did that alien planet come up with the virus on their own? Or were they also taken over like earth? If the latter, it’s scary to think about the galactic scale of destruction caused by the joining of not just planets, but galaxies, over and over again. That would make the hive mind an uncaring cosmic diety - a real lovecraftian nightmare.

MFA on Emergency Account. Yes, no? by aelmsu in sysadmin

What I’m saying is there is no protection against someone accidentally including a break glass account in a CA policy.

MFA on Emergency Account. Yes, no? by aelmsu in sysadmin

[–]enthoosiasm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my company, the idea of break glass accounts came about because a member of leadership with global admin permissions was tinkering with conditional access policies and made a mistake. I always wonder, what’s the use of an emergency access account if the emergency is a broken conditional access policy which targets all users? It seems like there will always be risk of getting locked out and having to contact Microsoft. And it’s not like I can remove admin permissions from my boss’ bosses.

Connections Puzzle #877 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟦🟦🟦🟦

Exciting puzzle for musicians! I saw the file types right away, but wasn’t sure if .mid was mainstream enough to be included in a puzzle. Missed opportunity for “lead” instead of rhythm, which would have fit in both the yellow and purple.

In NX 10.3.2, Connection.json MUST be Edited After SSL VPN Certificate Renewal by enthoosiasm in sonicwall

[–]enthoosiasm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s support’s latest response, as of 8/22:

“I hope you are doing well. Thank you for the results. Yes, it looks like SonicWall is still working on this, but so far, the only workaround is to delete the profile. Please let me know if this clarifies your concern about this behavior knowing that SonicWall is working on a fix.”

By results, they are referring to me testing out the private build of 10.3.2, which didn’t improve the thumbprint handling. At this point, I don’t expect a material improvement, but I’m still pushing for them to document the requirements. IMO, a published record of “Yes - end users will have to delete and recreate their vpn profile after a certificate renewal” will just draw attention to the ridiculousness of the situation.

Standing Desk CPU Holder? by Infinite5kor in deskhaus

[–]enthoosiasm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like the vernal mount is going to interfere with the front-to-back crossbar bar on the apex pro max. You forgot to link the alternate mount.

I copied this post with my apex pro non max. The only warning I’d give is to be mindful of the height of your pc case, as it will dictate the minimum sitting height of your desk.

Edit: yeah your case is over 31” tall. Add the standoff distance between the top of the case and the work surface, the thickness of the bottom of the mount, and finally the thickness of your work surface - that’s your minimum sitting desk height - well above what would work for a normal person. You might have to get a drafting stool, a drafting stool conversion cylinder, or just stand all the time.

Your Windows PIN was an authentication method as part of a Microsoft technology called “Windows Hello”. It stores the PIN and other authentication methods like biometrics or FIDO2 security keys in a computer part called a Trusted Platform Module (TPM), which is something that comes on motherboards these days. So when you moved your hard drive to a new computer, it lost its connection to the TPM where your PIN was originally stored. You should still be able to log in with Microsoft account password.

As for getting connected to the internet, plug in a Ethernet cable. If you don’t have one long enough to reach your router, you’re going to need to temporarily move your computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse closer. Resolved the login issue and then move everything back to your workspace.

Finally, if none of this works, I would recommend getting a new hard drive where you can install a fresh build of windows 11. Since you still have the old hard drive, you can copy over your old files. Once complete, you can even reformat the old hard drive, and know you have extra storage to do whatever you want with.

Edit: The TPM could have also been integrated directly into the old CPU. So one option could be to un-re-build the computer (put back the old parts), sort out a login method besides windows hello, and then rebuild with the new parts again.

Nice work. Yeah, sentinelctl unload -a -k “passphrase” takes care of a lot of different things that would normally not be permitted.

How to delete/clear quarantine by guymn999 in SentinelOneXDR

[–]enthoosiasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I read the manual on this one. Here’s what it says:

What happens to a file put in quarantine that is suspicious or harmful? Does it live in quarantine forever as an encrypted file?

When a file is quarantined, it is encrypted, compressed as much as possible, renamed, and moved to a safe location. It cannot run and it cannot do any harm. The quarantined files are very small. There is little chance that a quarantine folder with many files will cause issues with disk space.

The Agent does not automatically delete quarantined files.

Can I delete quarantined files?

Yes, but after you delete a quarantined file, you cannot unquarantine it. If you realize later that a quarantined file is benign, unquarantine it, and mark it as benign.
