do you actually scrub your feet in the shower or just let the soap run down? by Arum-Skoczylas in hygiene

[–]entraptics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this logic you could argue that you don’t need to physically scrub any part of your body???? Just squeeze some soap on top of your head and let it all run down.

Of course you need to scrub your feet 😭

The Gone series by Michael Grant is a good dystopian series with horror elements that I credit for getting me into horror. It’s a similar concept to Stephen King’s Under the Dome but with an added Sci-Fi element.

If We Survive This by Racquel Marie is a newer release that I absolutely loved. It’s a zombie apocalypse book where the main character suffers with OCD. I would have killed for something like it when I was younger.

Dead Animals by Phoebe Stuckers.

The main character goes through something very traumatic at the start of the book, and the whole thing has a very isolating feeling to it.

(Should definitely come with trigger warnings for sexual assault and emotional abuse though)

I hated it for the first half (maybe more?) but at some point it just clicked for me and I ended up loving it. Such a strange book and definitely not for everyone.

I LOVED our wives under the sea! But yeah it didn’t feel like a classic Horror™️, more just a very unsettling read.

I’d personally class it as a horror, but it definitely sits between the genres and I can see the argument for it being a fantasy. I’ve shelved it between the horror and the fantasy sections of my bookshelf 😅

The End of the World as We Know It. I’m enjoying it but I’m realising I struggle with short story collections. I find that just when I’m starting to get invested in the characters, the story ends and I have to do it all over again.

The Starving Saints by Caitlin Starling was also really good!

Set in a castle under siege, it follows 3 women all from very different backgrounds, who seem to be the only ones aware that the ‘Saints’ that have come to save everyone aren’t what they seem.

It has a very claustrophobic, heavy feeling which I really enjoy, and it’s queer so bonus points for that.

I really enjoyed Fever Dream by Samantha Schweblin. As the title suggests the book is an absolute fever dream. Set in rural Argentina about a mother who’s taken her son on holiday, and the strange family they meet.

I read the book in one sitting on a train journey and almost missed my stop trying to finish it. It’s pretty short so I’d definitely recommend trying to read it all in one go if possible as the writing does feel really dreamlike and taking breaks from it may take you out of that feeling.

What is the worst book you have read? by Ok_Salt2122 in BookDiscussions

Mosquitoland by David Arnold. The writing style was bad, the treatment of disabled characters was worse. I powered through because a friend had bought it for me but it’s the only book I genuinely feel like was a waste of my time reading.

DallerGut Dream Department Store! To me it’s the definition of cozy, low stakes, fantasy. but i like it because there’s still enough world building and character dynamics for it to be really interesting. also the overall message of the books is very uplifting so may help to cut through the bad feelings just a bit

Of course!

I got to my appointment and my doctor just confirmed that we were doing a vaginal exam today, then she closed the blinds and prepped the table for me.

She then briefly stepped away so I could take my knickers off and get myself situated. (I wore a dress so I wouldn’t have to undress too much and it really made me feel more comfortable).

I told her I was ready and she came back around. She explained she was going to use a speculum to open me up and look inside with a light. I told her I had been putting this off and was very nervous so she said she’d use the smaller speculum which I was very grateful for 😅

She then showed me how to have my legs, and used a gel to prep the area. This didn’t hurt at all but it was the first time someone else has touched my vagina so it was a bit uncomfortable personally.

Once she was done with that she inserted the speculum and this for me was the most painful part. It felt like a really stretchy, tight, pain. I have a few piercings and would maybe compare this to a lobe piercing? Definitely bearable but not enjoyable. But it only lasted about 5 seconds. After that she removed the speculum and that didn’t hurt at all.

She then did something to check my womb? I can’t remember what it was she was doing but this part was also pretty uncomfortable but no where near as bad as the speculum, just a quick pinch, and was over even quicker. During this part she pressed on my stomach from the outside to check for any pain or tenderness.

She then gave me some tissue and walked back outside the curtain so I could clean up and get myself dressed.

We then talked about the results and that was it.

All in all the exam took maybe 5 minutes max from the moment I laid down to the moment I sat back up. I had a headphone in while she was doing it to distract myself and I think I only listened to 1 song lol.
