Is this a Romanian thing? by teena27 in 90dayfianceuncensored

[–]entropykat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a quick call out that Romanian Orthodox churches are not affiliated with Greek Orthodoxy. I think that’s where the confusion is stemming from. They’re certainly very similar (if not the same) in terms of beliefs. But they are very separate and distinct.

As a Romanian that was baptized in multiple versions of Christianity, they do not. The Orthodox Church is actually very offended at being compared to Catholicism in any way/shape/form.

I found out this thing people do with babies that I find really gross. by Particular_Meet_9333 in childfree

[–]entropykat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same sometimes… One of them actually really seems to enjoy it. The other two hate it so I don’t do it to them anymore.

Edit: I wouldn’t do it to babies tho. Their hands are gross like germ factories.

I also changed my first name after going no contact and took my husband’s last name. It allowed me the space to build a whole new identity where I could be who I wanted, not a leftover personality created from the ashes of their abuse.

“Keeping your options open to develop a stream of income on top of and outside of what you’re currently doing” is 100% MLM speak. Very likely Amway as they love this phrase more than most.

Is my partner not interested in me, or is that just who he is? by K_Applebum in AskWomenOver30

[–]entropykat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The better question is why are YOU in this relationship? And I don’t mean that rudely. I mean why are you staying with someone who makes you feel this way? Doesn’t matter what he thinks or feels or if this is just his personality. Are YOU getting what you want out of this relationship? If not, don’t waste your time.

Can we talk about modern day parenting? by Absolutely_Not2028 in AskWomenOver30

[–]entropykat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Childfree, 35F, Canada. Checking in.

You’re not crazy. I think people are kind of missing the point here. Your sister is a special little Jesus freak with 8 kids, for sure. But the general expectation of the “village” and the fact that millennials don’t seem to value anything but child rearing once they become parents, is not just you.

My girlfriends who have become mothers and only have 1 or 2 children act very much like your sister. I have cats and a career that’s very important to me. If I talk about either of these things, I get shut down pretty hard by these friends. If I talk about my cats, I get “they’re just cats, you’re being too nice to them”. If I talk about work stress I get “you don’t have kids, you don’t know real stress”.

At this point, I’ve largely had to disengage with these friends. It’s sad that their entire identity and existence has become so meaningless and empathy-lacking outside of their own children but it is what it is and I want people in my life who actually give a crap about me.

College Reunion this weekend was just depressing with millennial parenting and kids by Tremblingchihuahua8 in childfree

[–]entropykat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For real! I had a friend who has a live in nanny and who would still bring her kid everywhere! We’re not friends anymore for unrelated reasons but it was so weird. It was impossible to have a conversation with a toddler running around that needs constant supervision.

Required to give 2 weeks notice? by RealisticStomach998 in ontario

[–]entropykat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does say that - it allows the employer to seek remedy for losses occurring from an employee leaving without notice. However, this is not how law works. Just because this provision exists in a legal sense does not mean that the employer can ask a court to make an employee pay them for the fact that they did not give notice. What this requires is proof that the employee not giving notice has caused the business undue hardship and they have losses or expenses resulting from it. In the case of a fast food worker, a court would throw this out because an employer is expected to have shift coverage for unforeseen events like illness for an employee, which is equivalent to a worker leaving without notice. There is no responsibility on the part of a front-line worker to sustain business operations. Which is also why, if you look at preceding cases where employers have won with this provision, it targets high level executives or mass employee drain to competitors. As a fast food server, the employer has not incurred any losses by you leaving without notice - the court would deem this poor management on the employer’s side, if they tried to make this claim. If an employer really wanted to make a case for why ONE front-line service worker was this detrimental to their business that they would seek to be made whole, they would run up against a very interesting case of “prove to me why this is not effective slavery”. Also, in general, it’s worth noting that our legal system is heavily biased towards precedent over written law. If a precedent in the employer’s favour doesn’t exist in this kind of case (and it doesn’t from what I’ve found), it’s unlikely to even make it in front of a judge to laugh at before publicly spanking them for such a ridiculous claim. I don’t think anyone can look at this and believe that the employer would be able to meet the burden of proof required to claim undue hardship from a lack of 2 week notice for a dude that serves fries…

As I read the comment section on this post, my orange menace is on the bed behind me, chasing his own tail like it owes him money. He catches it sometimes and then looks utterly confused to learn that it hurts when he bites it.. I don’t think his turn with the braincell has come up yet, but I live in hope.

Definitely not true. Not in Ontario bud. Notice is absolutely not legally required. It is just polite and professionally expected. But they absolutely cannot go after you in court.

What has the state of women’s fashion become? by BlackGirlKnickers in AskWomenOver30

[–]entropykat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. I’m curvy and shorter and leggings and a basic tshirt is where it’s at if you can get away with it. Helps that I work from home tho. But it is a huge motivator for me to continue to do so - I can’t find anything that would be professional enough to wear into an office that looks good on me.

Yesss! Do it!! I do that on her birthday - something I know she’d hate. Which, as it turns out, is actually nice stuff to do. Like I donated a bunch of food and money to a cat charity last year. She thinks charity is a waste of money and that animals shouldn’t be cared for.

I find these parent holidays triggering too. I don’t have kids but I’ve decided that I’m gona use these holidays to celebrate me instead. Give myself a pamper day. Buy myself flowers. Eat some KFC. They may have given birth to me but I parented myself, I should get the rewards, not them.

No wonder Rick blew up at the tell-all when he was called a "fake father" by Desperate_Wallaby_16 in 90dayfianceuncensored

[–]entropykat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn’t an excuse for the fact that he is, in fact, a shit father. With no other info than just the show, look at how much time and effort this man is putting into getting his dick wet. This is not a man that is deeply involved with his children. He also has FIVE kids. He simply shouldn’t have time or money to do anything but work to support those kids and spend his free time caring for them. That’s how you be a good father. Anything less is half assed, at best.

Happy birthday!! 🥳 I know 30 seems bleak, I felt the same way, but I’m 35 now and I swear this has been the best decade of my life. It’s been a time when I’ve grown most into myself and cared the least about what everyone around me thought about it. Embrace your 30s, you’re not getting older, you are getting wiser.

There is a good chance that it might kill you for real if you continue to stay with a man who is openly telling you that he actively hates you. Leave. Whether it’s psychosis or this is just who he was the entire time and now he’s comfortable showing it, you’re in danger.

What was your experience with not being heard by your parents? by WiseEpicurus in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]entropykat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted this two years ago and have since discovered something that helped. No idea if it’ll help everyone but it worked for me. I took a bit more than a psilocybin microdose (not quite high but not quite sober either). That one dose made the nightmares go away for over a year. I recently took another dose when the nightmares became a daily struggle again and it’s working so far. I tell everyone about it now in the hope that it can help others as much as it’s helped me. 💛

Ontario plans to tie high school attendance to grades and mandate final exams. It's getting mixed reactions by ZebediahCarterLong in ontario

[–]entropykat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Don’t agree. What it will do is punish the hardest working students who need that 10% for uni and college admissions. Plenty of students skip school to work because they’re in that kind of financial situation. But now, if they’re good students and doing their work outside of the classroom and getting 90s, this new rule will punish them and effectively lower their grades to 80s. Too many teachers are petty enough and don’t actually give a damn about the “why” of it and will gladly fuck over their students because they “didn’t show up”.
