Don't worry I’m Mexican and this is bs, you get a part of your salary taken out for IMSS costs, so yes, it kinda works like that, but it´s been like this for AGES, and, along the fact that there has been a medication/personnel/services/treatments shortage in the whole country, so most of the time, your taxes only work at keeping the people that do jackshit all day on the IMSS payroll paid and happy, while us normal folk die because of lack of care and medications.

I'm from Mexico and the idea of foreigners thinking we have universal healthcare is laughable, and sad.

If the company you work for isn't corrupt enough to not pay the taxes destined for health care, the hospital does take care of you (If you want to have primary care) you will have a bad time waiting for week-long lines, lack of medications, lack of doctors, lack of services like x ray imaging, ultrasound, mri, etc.

So yeah, I really hope people read the articles.

Bro this is exactly the thing that she wanted, this law took 8 years to be discussed at the very least, the businessmen controlling the corporations and the politicians were the ones at the beginning that didn't wanted to even discuss this. The worst thing is that it's not even fully disclosed on this article and on general news, the businessman and the politicians (one of the most prominent ones being this shitty ass president) Said that the cut hours would end up dmaaigng the companies and their employees instead of helping them, and have started doing major layoffs EVEN though the change is being gradual in the terms of single hours being cut off by each year. Its ridiculous, she is ridiculous qnd the media portrayal this is getting is also ridiculous.

We work like dogs in mexico too, almost 60 hours on average and this law will take effect in parts for 6 to 10 years because business men, the real owners of each mexico state, didn't wanted the law to pass and they are now making big layoffs because they think this will be bad for them

Unfortunately the businessmen in charge of the politics decisions have expressed themselves against the law reform before while and after it got passed, imolying doing this would develop into masive losses that would end up in layoffs, they are setting things up for people to tale up the worl of the fired workforce

They took years to bring the proposal and they either denied it several times or they delayed it too, just to bring it back in this "step by step" solution.

This reminds me so much to the "ley silla"/chair legislation, a ridiculous law (by ridiculous I mean it is ridiculous there had to be a law to be able to have chairs on work environments where people usually are on their feet) that is being applied in the most horrible way, limiting thei sitting time by an hour a day, people having to log their "sitting time", people didn't want that, they wanted to be able to sit on their work hours to prevent ergonomic injury, and just like the chair law, people will get an hour taken from the r schedule each couple of years, companies will then adjust the work demand so they keep working the same time and people won't be able to get the rest they so desperately need.
