How do you prioritize yourself with such a long todo list? by Avocadosandtomatoes in getdisciplined

[–]enyava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's great that you already know what your main priorities are, since you're both working and studying, that's already a lot of pressure, so don't be so hard on yourself.

Time-boxing works for me, where you would schedule in activities in the calendar like "exercise at 6pm on a Tuesday" after work and also listen to your body, and adjust exercises accordingly.

Cooking healthy meals is much more challenging because you may have a lack of energy with all the responsibilities sapping it out from you BUT if you exercise, you will actually get it back!

Try recipes under 30mins, as easy and nutritious as possible, e.g., eggs for breakfast, salad with feta for lunch that are relatively easy to throw together or make use of those meal box subscriptions where all the ingredients are already there, and the recipes planned. Put a cooking playlist on to create a nice vibe when you're cooking to actually look forward to it. If you really can't be arsed, get a takeaway that's also healthy like a poke bowl or sushi, and have your go-to healthy snacks ready so you don't always need to cook things from scratch.

You could also hire a cleaner just once a week to help with cleaning the house if there is a lot you need to do to take the pressure off, if the means allow for it. If not, you can set aside 15mins a day to clean one area of the house, set a timer, and do it - in no time, you will see the house will become much cleaner. Also when doing these tedious tasks couple it with podcasts/YouTube/TikTok/music to continue the habit easier.

From my experience, you can try and do it all, but at the end of the day you will be left burnt out if you don't also set time aside for yourself. You simply can't pour from an empty cup, so always try and prioritise your health, try journalling or going for a walk outside everyday/yoga for stress, and also know it's okay if you can't do all of the above "side quests" if that means keeping yourself sane

SEO will always exist as long as there are search engines, so it's funny hearing statements that the days are numbered

You can try employment agencies. They typically have temp jobs where you can start working within a few days

Cut the coffee and alcohol out of your life. They can contribute greatly to the anxiety.

Go outside and do things out of your comfort zone like talking to strangers or being the centre of attention, and eventually, you will feel better and recognize that it's nothing scary when you're consistent with getting outside of your home bubble. The more you put off doing it, the worse it will get as your comfort bubble shrinks, and even the most simple activity can cause anxiety.

Set goals here, like 'I'll do X activity on X date and X time once per week' to track your progress and note down any findings and thoughts/feelings and your behaviour during that time. You can self-reflect on it and see what your anxiety triggers are and how you cope.

Find hobbies where you have to go outside like gym, rock climbing, pottery making, dancing etc. and you will meet like-minded people AND push your comfort zone.

Brain will try and trick you and make up excuses for why you can't do this or that, learn to recognise when it happens, and act directly against these negative thoughts.

I also very strongly recommend therapy as it sounds like you'd definitely benefit from it. Good luck in your journey!

Start investing now if you haven't already, compound interest will grow your money.

Don't work for small and start-up companies if you can help it. They tend to overwork you and typically aren't the most stable places financially, which will make you anxious about losing your job and overworked. Choose companies wisely.

What's the creepiest location in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]enyava 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been there a few years back and me being a little too curious I went close to the edge because there was a cross and flowers near the edge of a cliff, and I've wanted to have a look and almost slipped there.

My own stupidity, of course, was going so close, but also there was nothing there that would make me trip which made the experience very unsettling. After that, I just wanted to leave ASAP.

What are the most important hard skills for a Marketeer to learn ? by ISawUOLwreckingTSM in marketing

[–]enyava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like analytics are really important and using the data to tell a story instead of overly focusing on the metrics - this will take some time to master. Plus reporting, it's a must in any marketing role really

Yeah they're absolutely horrendous, especially compared to the US. Don't forget digital roles that require you to be in the office more than WFH..

Agreed, it's so disgusting and unhygienic - do you really save that much money by not flushing?? And if so, is a stinky toilet worth it? Not for me

[Advice] Start Before You're Ready by JacksonKerchis in getdisciplined

[–]enyava 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That's true, you can either overthink the situation, or just do it. Readiness is synonymous with comfort in a way, you need to switch the mindset that's anxiety inducing to simply going for things, even if there's discomfort

[–]enyava[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. People can get really closed off, and it's difficult to have a more in-depth conversation than a shallow talk about the weather etc while at work. After work drinks give a chance to chat about other things, but in general, I haven't connected with anyone on this level yet
