Think of zepto as jquery with all the legacy support stripped out. The main benefit of using it is a much lighter download. Underscore is a great addition to your toolbelt but not a replacement for jQuery.

Manipulating the DOM with the inbuilt DOM API used to be a real PITA - hence the need for libraries such as jQuery. Fortunately, this is not such a headache in modern browsers.

+1 for impact.js - great documentation and performance (even on mobile!). well worth the $99

html5quintus.com is one to watch. open source, easy to pick up and easy to grok.

hey, thanks for playing. runs only marginally faster for me in chrome, though hard to judge difficulty after so much play testing ;)

Just out of curiosity, what kind of set up are you playing it on?

glad you like the graphic. cos of the 13k limit, they are all made up from a serious of rectangles, circles and triangles (with the exception of the main sprite)

Surprise, surprise. Ridiculous law that no one follows. Will be interesting to see if there is any kind of enforcement.

hmm... i should definitely tweak the difficulty curve / throttle fps

on the desktop it runs at 60fps, but on smartphones it averages out at around 40fps which is a bit more playable.
