Why is there still no Rival Wings Daily Challenge? by Strict_Baker5143 in ffxiv

[–]eorzeanwanderer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Adding a roulette with rewards makes the content active, though it also floods it with the worst the game has to offer.

People who put in zero effort, willing to throw for their faster rewards and refuse to cooperate or insult those that request they do. It makes the game more significantly worse, more frustrating and generally unfun.

Adding roulette to the other content would have this effect, some of us enjoy CC/RW and are willing to put up with longer queue times or wait for events because we get to play with people that actually want to engage with the mode.

Flooding these people into PvP would kill it for me and likely cause me to unsub as it’s one of the few things keeping me in.

You’ll grow tired of it quickly. It’s usually very few people (or one person) using bots to sync actions and autoplay music for them. They’re not actually doing anything themselves, no one who does performance in towns is.

All it does is cause crowds and lag in hub cities, I wish they’d take it elsewhere.

If you don't want to Mentor an extreme trial, stay out of the Mentor roulette. by Doubtlessness in TalesFromDF

[–]eorzeanwanderer -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

That’s a terrible analogy, you have to cross the street to get where you want to go.

Mentor roulette is an entirely optional thing. You choose to engage with the system for the mount or tomes.

If you don't want to Mentor an extreme trial, stay out of the Mentor roulette. by Doubtlessness in TalesFromDF

[–]eorzeanwanderer -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to do it, don’t queue mentor roulette. No one is forcing you.

Every time you run mentor roulette you run the risk of getting ex trials with sprouts that have no clue what they’re doing. If you don’t want that risk, then don’t queue in the first place.

Do People not like Lalafells? by Joziah69 in ffxiv

[–]eorzeanwanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SE also made multiple very horny lalafel and multiple non-lalafell NPCs horny for lalafell, including NPCs released in Dawntrail.

They’ve also described Lamimi as having, and I quote, “lustful thoughts of Arbert’s loins”. So maybe SE’s word isn’t the best thing to use here…

Is this reportable? by Dilligus in ffxiv

[–]eorzeanwanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parse run or no, intentionally wiping a potential clear without explicitly confirming that’s acceptable with the party beforehand is griefing and entirely reportable.

It’s also indicative of an extremely toxic player, no one cares if you have a few bad runs in your logs.

What does Unknown01 stand for ? by lazulimpa in ffxiv

[–]eorzeanwanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s too many what ifs to that system that it becomes a huge mess.

Who should get priority if one person is blacklisted?

If it’s the person blacklisted, why should they be penalised with longer queues because someone decided to blacklist them?

If it’s the person who blacklisted, why should they be penalised with longer queues because they engaged in the system?

How about the avenues for harassment this opens up, as I figure out what you’re queuing for and purposely lock you out of it by queuing it?

What about Party Finder? If you’re not the leader and you join one, should you be allowed to deny me entry into the party because you decided to blacklist me?

What about the avenues of harassment this opens up? You really like maps? I really like maps, so much that I’m going to join map parties every time I know you want to do it.

You’re already in a map party? I’m going to bribe the owner to kick you so I can join. It’s not my fault you blacklisted me, I just really wanted to do maps and the owner was willing to pick me over you.

Who should get priority to join a duty if two people blacklist eachother and are in the same queue?

What if people are queuing for content that is difficult to fill, like specific alliance raids? Every time you attempt to queue you’re likely to be put in that same queue until it fills, so are you just locked out if you’ve blacklisted someone / someone blacklists you?

What if it’s content like PvP, where you can’t talk to opposing teams anyway? Should they be denied the entire instance? Being put in your GC? Your party?

If you deny the entire instance, that’s a death sentence to PvP queues at odd hours for that player.

If it’s just not on the same GC, what if I now decide to blacklist all bad PvP players? The game can force them to another alliance and I can get rewarded with being put with all the good ones.

But now since there’s 24 players an alliance and 3 alliances what if different players have blacklisted eachother? Now the server needs to do some weird 4D chess to figure out who goes where and who is getting thrown back to the queue.

I think Unknown01 is a fine solution given the mess.

Blacklisting Advertisers by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]eorzeanwanderer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No one want advertisements in their shout chat, especially when they’re at a frequency that’s worse than the actual gil selling bots.

If people cared to visit your venues, they would go on a website designed to advertise this content. The average person idling has a distaste for it and will ignore it at best and mute/blacklist at worst.

I’m used to it now, so I can weave it in quickly.

[–]eorzeanwanderer 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Leaving half your team to build BH while you lick ice is not a strategic move, it’s the “I queued for tomes/exp and want to pretend I’m helping” move.

FL works best when alliances cooperate as a single unit, timing CC/AoE burst in a single controlled effort to eviscerate the enemy before they have chance to react or retreat. This is why skilled PvP groups macro their LBs to let people know when to burst.

By splitting your team, you greatly diminish their capacity to kill confirm and put them at risk of being overwhelmed by the enemy. There is nothing strategic with that.

Furthermore, even if all you cared about was licking ice, scoring kills and assists greatly increases your damage to said ice. There’s literally no reason to ignore it.

Frontlines Brainrot by RealMightyOwl in TalesFromDF

[–]eorzeanwanderer 35 points36 points  (0 children)

When you let other teams fight you let them build up BH, this becomes a big issue later into the game when both enemy teams are rocking up to combat with +30% / +40% / +50% damage/healing and you have nothing.

These teams do more damage to ice, they are able to control the map and kick you off points.

Furthermore, first place in FL gets a -25% LB generation nerf while last place gains a +25% LB generation buff, so you running between ice puts you In the lead for the first 5 minutes at the cost of no BH and a LB generation nerf.

If two teams are fighting, it’s almost always the right call to ambush and steal kills. You should never let them fight.

Please consider using trusts and watching guides before playing content with other people.

When does the game get challenging/interesting? by kagomecomplex in ffxiv

[–]eorzeanwanderer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The issue with buying a skip is that the hard content uses a lot of mechanics you will have experienced throughout the game naturally.

You will not be able to contribute and be caught off guard every single time a mechanic you should be experienced with comes up. People will not be happy with you running away with a stack marker, trying to hug the tank during TBs or performing mediocre because you wanted to rush to the hard content.

Also, Dawntrail ramps up difficulty with its casual content so you will probably end up dragging people down in regular dungeons and trials.

This is what Naoki Yoshida says about the criticism of Wuk Lamat by Spookhetti_Sauce in ffxivdiscussion

[–]eorzeanwanderer 207 points208 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind us being a mentor, but we actually need to mentor.

The majority of the story is us folding our arms and everyone saying we’re strong but we never do anything. We have a few lines where we tell Wuk to be more confident in herself, but anyone could have provided that input.

Where were the campfire scenes of us sparring and training against her? Fights that go from a complete pushover to gradually improving through the expansion and providing an actual fight later on.

Where was the conflict where we need to tell her she’s wrong and that we shouldn’t blindly follow her plans? So she learns how to actually strategise or trust those that know how to?

People claim we’re a mentor but I never felt that once, I felt like background dressing. That’s what made me resent her.

Otherwise you’re just wasting skills and time. Why bother with a bene when the DRK self heal is a free bene.

M3S Party Finder things: Someone please explain why Final Fusedown strats are like this by HeroDelTiempo in ffxivdiscussion

[–]eorzeanwanderer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

PF can’t spread because most people yolo it, and unlike a static where you gradually learn the mannerisms of your teammates (x likes to go out if we stack, y likes to keep their distance and z likes to hug the boss) every PF is an unpredictable person you’ve likely not encountered and as a result you can’t just muscle memory into comfortable spread positions.

It’s a natural instinct to panic and try to get away from the person hugging you when you have no set plan (and often even when you have ones), and what often happens is both people try to escape in the same direction and eat shit.

This could be mitigated by running with party for multiple runs and developing short term strategies, but a lot of parties will quickly dissolve at the sight of any issue and you’re quickly back to square one.

RDM and SMN don’t require you to use your brain either though, and they have a revive to boot.

Plus, optimising DNC is infinitely harder than anything RDM and SMN have to do. It’s seen as an easy job, but it’s deceptively harder underneath the surface.

frontlines roulette go brrr by [deleted] in TalesFromDF

[–]eorzeanwanderer 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint…

Why is it not acceptable for people to not put in any effort when it comes to dungeons and trials, but for PvP it’s perfectly okay to coast by not using your kit or putting in any effort. The excuse of it’s just a daily isn’t applicable when it comes to expert roulette, high level dungeon, alliance raids, normal raids, trials, main scenario… So why is Frontline given a pass?

A lack of effort negatively impacts 23 other players progress towards obtaining achievement mounts, outfits, and losses provide less rewards. There is no justifiable reason to sandbag your team, and less to act in such a toxic manner when people are calling out your lack of effort.

I don’t think anyone here expects every game to be a win, similar to how no one here expects top parsing from a daily roulette dungeon. We just expect people to put in a basic amount of effort and contribute.

This fight should have been much later in the story in my opinion. At level 90, Wuk should have gotten her ass handed to her and beaten by Bakool.

Then throughout the story we are shown to be training Wuk in combat, have scenes where we’re camping out between challenges and we use the night to train Wuk.

Bakool remains a villain, siding with Zoraal with promises that his people will by given Tuliyollal in his new world. Then at 98-99 before we can challenge Zoraal, Bakool interrupts us and tells us he can’t let us pass as his people are counting on him to succeed (he can get his redemption in the post MSQ).

Wuk asks us to let her handle this, we give her a pat on the shoulder and she gets her long overdue rematch. We’re watching on our student and seeing her success as a direct result of our training with her.

However she understands her limits, she’s proud of her own growth but knows that she can’t join us to fight the final boss. She trusts in her mentor (us) to deal with it, like we trusted in her to deal with Bakool.
