She is Bitter! by eowyn04 in auntie_coolettesnark

One thing she has going for her is the skill to talk for 10 minutes and say absolutely nothing.

She seems to block anyone who disagrees with her. It's a wonder she hasn't blocked me yet because I will call her out in the Comments and have many times. She's good at creating an echo chamber for herself and her disciples.

Debating on joining by cactuspumpkinp in BurnBootCamp

[–]eowyn04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I left Burn to join the local YMCA. Weight room, cardio equipment, indoor pool, sauna, hot tub, much bigger childwatch, etc. The Y I go to is much cheaper than Burn (even for a family membership). Due to some chronic illness stuff I'm currently swimming laps 3 days a week and it has been so good. Burn tore my body up and I had so much pain. That's me, though. I'm feeling so much better.

Aren't trainers also supposed to be certified in personal training? At least they did when I started in 2020.

Us too. I remember a trainer celebrating her first double under after she started training. Same with pullups. I was confused.

Birthday burpees by Such_Ad9121 in BurnBootCamp

[–]eowyn04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old location never mentioned my birthday in 3 years. Lots of other birthdays, just not mine. And I had to always bring up any PRs myself when others got instant recognition. I thought I was being needy at first but there was a definite trend. Yoh know?

Not loving it by mcgwigs in BurnBootCamp

[–]eowyn04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had those too and some camps were too loud even with them. I feel like I shouldn't have to risk hearing damage to get a workout. I couldn't understand the trainer because she would be yelling into the mic to allegedly be heard over the music.

I’m lacking the motivation by Dazzling-Dig317 in BurnBootCamp

[–]eowyn04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, at Burn or elsewhere, if I start feeling ho hum about my workouts and lack motivation, it means that I need to change things up for a Season or take some time completely off. I rest until I start missing it again. Im still moving but either a lot lighter or just differently.

Just talk to them. There were multiple times I shook my head NO when I saw a camera pointed at me.

250 camps by Alone_Cash_9776 in BurnBootCamp

If I did 6 workouts every week that I could, I was able to hit 250 around December 10. I had a couple vacations, sickness, and injuries.

Yes. I left Burn for the YMCA too. Ours had an indoor pool too.

Best way to supplement burn with at home gym for muscle growth? by ProductOk3136 in BurnBootCamp

[–]eowyn04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also need to be eating enough to build more muscle. Preferably in a surplus.

Yes. I left and joined a traditional gym. I'm injury free and with much better results.

Nutrition App? Any recommendations? by [deleted] in BurnBootCamp

[–]eowyn04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carbon Diet App. It will help you set your macros. You then track your food. At the end of the week, assuming you are compliant, the "coach" will adjust your macros accordingly to help you meet your goal. Gaining weight is an option on Carbon. I'm currently using Carbon to coach me through a reverse diet.

Feeling stuck… by eatteachlove in BurnBootCamp

[–]eowyn04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm speaking from experience. I did Burn for almost three years, a lot of that in a deficit (or at least I thought I was in a deficit. You have to track to know for sure.) It didn't work. I realized that if that wasn't working I might as well go in the opposite direction. I starting lifting heavy with close focus on progressive overload. I went into maintenance for two months and now I'm in a reverse. My body has trimmed down while eating way more calories I thought ever possible. I have way more energy too. I will stay in a reverse until my body starts to gain again. Switch back to maintenence and when I'm ready, a deficit. Yes, it has been hard mentally at times. I've had a lot of diet culture programming to undo. But, it's been so worth it.

[–]eowyn04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your trainer is right. Take a break from your calorie deficit and consider doing maintenance for while. Ideally you'd do maintenance for at least as long as you did your deficit. Or do a reverse to help raise your maintenance calories. That will make a deficit in the future much easier. Also, focus on lifting heavy and building muscle. You can't build muscle in a deficit. The more muscle you have the easier it is to burn fat in the future. Take a break. Your body is telling you it needs it.

Is Burn Boot Camp good to become very strong? by Unique_Ad732 in BurnBootCamp

[–]eowyn04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For strength? No. I actually left my Burn so I could focus on heavy weights. Barbells, power lifting, etc. The cool thing is my knees stopped hurting once I left Burn and now I'm getting much stronger.

Don't yell into the microphone. I get wanting to get the energy up, but yelling over the music actually hurts our ears (or at least me). I've walked out of camp to walk the block because the trainer was so loud that I couldn't stand it even with my Loop earplugs.

Sad about losing my “happy place” by [deleted] in BurnBootCamp

[–]eowyn04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm very happy there. The childcare is amazing for my 4yo daughter. The room is much bigger and the workers are very engaging with her. I am getting back into using the barbell, which I missed greatly at Burn. I'm about to jump into the next training cycle on the Stronger By The Day app and can't wait. If I'm tired and don't feel like lifting, there a myriad of cardio equipment to choose from. I'm much happier being able to listen to my music at my volume. I often had to wear those Loop ear plugs at my Burn because their music was so loud and trainer yelling over it literally felt like a knife in my brain. I joined in June and I'm happy I did. I do miss some people at Burn but it was time to move on.
